Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
It's your security team AND whichever team is on that platform. So R&D staff if they invade the R&D platform

So, basically Direct Contract ALL the teams besides the Security Team to get around Invasions. Got it.

It's still stupid that they FORCE you to play it when they said it was optional.

Just bought this... skipping GZ though, hope I don't miss out on much.

I'd say MGSV's story relies heavily on GZ, but you get a brief cutscene showing the end of GZ... For a triple A title it relies an awful lot of existing knowledge for its characters.

The more I play this game the more I realize it's not MGS5, it's Peace Walker 2. It's funny that it references obscure tapes from that game (the, uh, sunscreen one was just brought up) but it feels like it's assuming you never played MGS3. HEY SNAKE DO YOU KNOW HOW TO FIGHT SNIPERS?

You can only have a limited amount of direct contracts. Also, combat teams that are direct contracted can't go out on operations.

I've heard that you can get an.... ummm.... unique cut-scene with
Quiet
if you do something right.

Anyone can tell me what exactly am I suppose to do without spoiling anything? My friend said
to take her with me and do lots of side missions without coming to base and then come back to base and see what happens.
I did it but nothing.

I don't know what actually the cut-scene is so I would really appreciate it if someone could point me to the right direction without spoiling anything. Thanks.

Would definitely like to know the same.

Also, are there any cutscenes or events that cannot be triggered after you finish chapter 1? Just want to make sure I do everything I can before I hit that point.
So no one knows about this?

I'm hitting a bit of a wall when it comes to base development. Don't have enough fuel resources, and fuel crates are kinda hard to find...

Oh it is?

Are all the harder missions optional?
Yes.
the way chapter 2 works is that after a number of missions are cleared, be they side ops or main ops it'll open a new story mission. The only things required to be played are the yellow dot missions. If there are no yellow dots do a hard level of some side ops until one shows up. It's not the most clear system in the world.

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
Well, obviously not and why would it? Calling airstrikes limit to A, calling an chopper exfiltration is what I do basically in every mission.

Oh, you mean to go back to the ACC.

I thought you meant an actual support chopper in which they attack enemies, which does limit your rank to an A

The servers are just bullshit. Up long enough for other people to rob me blind but down when I want to strike back. Either that or it says someone else is invading the thief's base already and I can't get my shit back. Frustrating.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
Where in that village can you find the She Blinded Me With Science tape? Every guide says the NE post in the village but I can't find a thing.

Still not missing much though because I would say the story relies more on Peace Walker though. I would call this Peace Walker 2 as well, still an awesome game.

I finished the story missions last night and I really liked the ending. I just wish it was presented in a different way.
I did not like having to play through the prologue all over again

Oh for fuck's sake. Just tried my first FOB invasion, was doing quite well, but then the connection dropped. The problem?

FAILED INFILTRATION
-500 Heroism
-23000 GMP
0 staff recovered
(nope)
And a wormhole opened up for him to invade me.

Damn it.

I had Quiet with me, and I'm still not sure how useful she is since she can only snipe from certain spots and apparently none of those spots are along the escort route.

Equip Grenades
Tell her to "Shoot This"
Wait for heli to stop moving, or distract it by c4-ing something away from you.

Toss grenade. Literally anywhere.

Quiet will shoot the grenade at the chopper and hit it as long as it isn't moving too much. Do it twice for getting rid of the chopper. She also helps tranw everyone you come across, just listen for the humming and tell her to take them out.

I'm going to have to stop using Quiet so much. She makes missions waaaaaaay too easy.

It's like:

Step 1. Cover Me
Step 2. Win

She never does shit for me even though i have maxed her loyalty. She marks a couple guys and leaves tons of guys unmarked so you have to go in as if you are solo. When fighting breaks out she sleeps guys and leaves them unmarked so they wake up after you think everything is clear. Shes the worst buddy imo.

Or shes on the move when you need cover..

Quick question post mission 12.

I got Huey, can I visit him in game? I know he's on the command platform but where?

Same predicament. I'm capped out on ALL staff. Slowly building 1 expansion at a time since resources are impossible to come by fast enough. It's gotten to the point where even B level staff are getting kicked out of my teams into the waiting room.

Side note: does anyone know how resources go from unprocessed to processed? Seems that I have a bunch of extra resources that are unusable for whatever reason.

Your Base Development Platform processes materials. More platforms + better staff = faster processing.

I also had an overcrowding problem. Hit 700 staff and couldn't recruit any more, but then I unlocked FOBs which add 45 positions per area as a standard, and then more when you upgrade them.

I'm about 30 hours in and I have no desire to keep playing. It's crazy to me, because I was super hyped for this, but the lack of story is really getting to me. What I've witnessed so far is interesting, don't get me wrong. But such moments are few and far between and I don't feel like spending another 30 hours to complete it.

Regarding the gameplay, I definitely prefer the tightly constructed level design from past games. The open world here feels awfully lifeless and monotonous. When I got to Africa, I was hoping for a huge explosion of variety, but I don't feel that was the case. In fact, Africa feels even less interesting than Afghanistan (based on what I've seen).

Also, the style of gameplay I've employed (100% stealth) is getting very tiresome (even though I feel it's the most effective and truest to MGS). I have zero interest in playing this with a lethal and loud play style, so the majority of the upgrades available in R&D are of no interest to me, which gives me considerably less options in gameplay.

Given the selection presented to me, the game clearly expects me to experiment with the more lethal arsenal that's available. But as someone who went in purely for the stealth, I'm beginning to feel like I'm running out of reasons to care anymore.

To me, TPP feels a bit shallow as a stealth experience. If you're a bit more open to less than subtle tactics, then I can see why you'd adore this game. It's a truly diverse sandbox in that respect. But as a fan of the stealth gameplay present in throughout the series, this game just isn't cutting it for me :(

Well of course it does. It's the fifth installment in an extremely story-heavy franchise that's been going for 28 years.

Is it better to use lethal or non-lethal weapons on your security team?
When I tried losing to the non-lethal team on the tutorial they would never capture me or anything even if I just slept there. Guess that could be just a tutorial thing, but eh.

Ok, so even if you don´t do anything online after you have to set up a FOB you can get invaded and they can take your resource containers?

Had to do this one at night in game, and with no NVGs. Didn't even know you could get it to start during the daytime. Was pretty tough without the NVGs !

I think if you finish another mission during the day and hit ASAP for deployment time you can start it mid day. Night is always better though, easier for stealth .

Not only do I disagree, but did Kojima make this game? I thought that guy was the one to say what was true Metal Gear... Guess not.

Either way, get yourself the water pistol and use it and only it. Perfect stealth game.

Deploy her more wisely. Quiet is only as good as the direction she's given. Understand when to micromanage her actions and when to unleash her on the poor souls of the world. She's a bonafide destroyer when used correctly. I keep her lethal unless I'm prioritizing extractions; there are so many ways to stealthily incapacitate hostiles myself . Also you sometimes have to assign her to scout adjacent deployment points to get a full read on an area.
