Well damm that was everything I wanted out of this ep and more. Delta has been a damm treat this season with all the elements of my fav shit. Mecha, idols, and some absurd shit. The vfs have been ace in designs, and the look of the protoculture ship is nice. Ragna has been an amazing location for this show. Mad props to the dude who I can't remember doing the art for it. Hayate has been a better mc for me over alto in frontier. There has not been a character even bouge who I necessarily disliked so far.
I don't mind the romance aspect of macross as I am more found of the dope vfs. However, this episode was great in kind of moving it along. Hoping hayate and mirage become next Max/Milia. It's hard to deny how great of a character freyja is. Great episode with hopefully more good stuff coming. Expecting delta to team up with windermere near the end.

Yeah after this ep there better be more Mirage and Hayate, I'm really pulling for these two. I think mirage even shot Freyja a death stare when Hayate was talking to her. Delta is picking up, I just think Frontier got this hype sooner. Granted I marathoner Frontier and watching Delta on a weekly basis is painful.
Yeah it was right after that thumbs up. lol
I too marathoned Frontier, so bot really sure how they compare in the pacing.
Also that reminds me i pre ordered mirages vf. Although i was a bit drunk, so i may have just got that tiny one on a stand in confusion.

If Mirage ends up having a knife fight with Freyja over Hayate I'm going to laugh my ass off.
I went from loathing this show after episode 1, to loving this show. A Freyja x Hayate romance would be great, they play off each other so well. But in the long run, Hayate and Mirage... I could see them captaining a fleet or SDF warship 40 years down the timeline long after Freyja is pushing up daisies (unless they pull a "She's half human and ages normally" angle).
One of these days I'm going to have to marathon Frontier too. I'd like to finally understand the connection between Protoculture from og Macross, the Bird People from Zero, and Frontier's antagonists.

I want Mirage to win. The Jenius women can be so much fun. I'm not asking Mirage to either be Miria or Mylene, but somewhere down the middle could be fun. I think Miria got a lot more loose when she got older...that woman had no shame. Hell, let's have Mirage enter Miss Macross. Fuck why hasn't Delta had a Ms. Macross episode yet? I know the had Freyja enter to become a member of Walkure but I don't remember that being call "Ms. Macross."Because I can't be on the losing team two series in a row, i'm pulling for Freyja.
The signs don't lie when it comes to Mirage losing.

But they at least lost for very logical reasons. Minmei lost cause Rick grew up and figured out was important, not to mention that Minmei didn't really know what she wanted till it was too late, Ranka lost cause she was up against Sheryl...you just don't go up against Sheryl and win. Now with Freyja and Hayate it's actually all too obvious to the point where if chose anybody but Freyja it'd be a shock. We just need for Mirage to sing for the guy or something, she needs to break character a bit and show her hidden emotions. Mylene lost cause well...she just wasn't good enough for Gamlin, dude loved her, she was all up in Basara's shit and lost to Sivil...dude got his clothes blown off from a kiss...Sivil...what the hell even happened to her?

I'm absolutely ok with the BasaraXGamlin broship since Gamlin was one of the few people that actually got Basara and I think he understood him before Mylene even did. That shit called Bamlin on Tumblr or something?
She's middle aged yo, then she gets dusty when she hits her 30's. Better hit up that Mirage and sample the superior aging Jenius genes. Miria aged like a fucking fine ass wine. You just know Max and Miria shook the bolts off the Macross 7 when they finally got back together.

Elysion last second save, take off of the habitat colony ship, crazy dogfights with hype songs.
This being said, I vastly prefered the teamwork angle to try to take the White Knight down to that Rune flash Mahou Shoujo "Sing for love and jump out the window!" Bullshit, which on one hand did give us the archetypal Macross scene (idol falling and caught by VF hands), but also magically tuned to Hayate and suddenly made him even better than Messer.
Big fat Nope.
At least, there's hope that the series might continue to get better (though it still imo has nothing on Frontier. Not even close).
Ps: Did I read it wrong, or did it look like the NUNS envoy was actually working For Windermere?

I love how I'm not the only one that likes Frontier more. Just seemed more Macross to me. Macross is done best when you're raging at a ship. I raged at Hikaru/Minmei/Misa and I raged at Alto/Sheryl/Ranka, that and Frontier was fucking hype and I liked the side characters better. They didn't have to make Klan a likable character, but they did. That and I felt they humanized the idols better in Frontier. I'm liking Delta more than I did during ep one, a lot more, but it's not Frontier and not as good as M7 regarding certain things either...but it's still a very good follow up. I guess I just like some of the character growth in M7. Watching Gamlin's growth from jealousy of Basara, to watching him help Basara get back on track and giving him a high five and even singing one of his damn songs was heart warming. Gamlin was a fucking bro, he's like the extra member of Fire Bomber to me. I'd like Mirage to be that, but they're not giving her enough growth time.

They sort of seem like a copy pasted version of Ranka and Sheryl with less of the chemistry in my opinion. Sheryl and Ranka were actual friends. Freyja just sort of seems like a slave to Mikumo with none of the respect. Well not slave but definitely teacher and pupil.

Mikumo has zero character development. She's just the best singer and she shows up mysteriously with perfect timing to present solutions to problems.
I hope they do something with her at some point. Ami Koshimizu is being wasted here.

Yeah that's most of my problem with Walkure itself. I think I said early on that 5 of these chicks don't add up to one Sheryl Nome and 13 eps later it's still the case. My only improvement is that I can at least name all of Walkure now. None of them really have any distinguishing traits outside of Reina and Makina's implied box eating and Kaname just being a massive failure, but still good person.
Ranka had more confidence issues than Frejya, I think. She could get gloomy because of her past too.
And, yeah, the UN were fighting wars to unify the Earth in Zero. There were like a couple of VF prototypes, so you see mostly traditional fighters in it too.

Whatever focus Mikumo gets is most probably only going to be centered around her mysterious origins and what kind of connection she has to Protoculture, which will hopefully be picking up now the ruins are that much more of a focus.
I just feel Kaname, Makina, and Reina are just the extras to fill out Walkure, like Ray and Veffidas filled out Fire Bomber. Like, there's the parallel with both Kaname and Ray being semi-leadership roles and some focus early on, and Makina, Reina, and Veffidas being generally fun, quirky, and conveniently plot-relevant at times, but not really expecting much more than that.

Well it's not a like for like comparison, but I think you get what I mean. I can't see Freyja and Mikumo just randomly hanging out in a way that Sheryl and Ranka could. If they weren't rivals for Alto I think they'd actually be great friends. No wonder Alto blue ballsed that shit so often.
