Ok, I know some are upset but you have to admit

if a year ago I told you the next Monster Hunter game by the core team would be launching in 2018 on the Xbox One, but not Nintendo's next handheld

you'd laugh at me and call me a dummy

I wouldn't laugh at you....

maybe a little

If this is what Capcom is doing and gives the Switch nothing then they can F themselves. Period. A port of damn expansion game from the 3DS isn't a equal offering and not on the same level. It's Monster Hunter 5 or Capcom can gtfo.

RELAX, if the rumours are to be believed (and this does give A LOT of credence to the 4chan rumours) you'll get your traditional MonHun on Switch, and it'll probably be MonHun5 (because they don't want to piss off JP fans lol)

Doubt MH5 is even in serious development until they see reception for Worlds. If it sells well and people like it, MH5 will be more like Worlds but more expanded. If not, back to the older style.

just a hunch

Lol, a "hunch"? They have multiple Monster Hunter teams. Thinking they're only working on 1 game is absurd. You realize they've released a number of MH console games in addition to portable ones in the past right? There are more console spinoffs than main series games

The more I think about drop-in multiplayer, the more I like the idea in Monster Hunter.

But then I think about some newbie dropping in and carting 3 times. Fuck.

With the game being open world I doubt there will be a cart system. I imagine it's a single life and a co-op partner dying just means they're out of the hunt.

Honestly, it's gonna sucks if they are gonna continue with a different series path with Switch if MH:World is made by the mainline team. You would want all the future titles to carry improvements and mechanics forward opposed to just splitting all the games across multiple individual systems.

I'm getting more excited for this but the thought of going back to buying across 2 platforms is just blah. June 20th come sooner.

Not coming to the Switch but coming to Xbox? Capcom being Capcom

PS4/XBO/PC are like one big platform -- they can basically make one SKU. Switch is its own thing, like WiiU -- hard to justify making exclusives for it, but being a handheld hybrid helps. That's why I'd be wary about expecting Switch to get MH5. If World does well, I could see it sticking on the big three. 3DS is getting old -- seems like they might want to move on, and PS4/XBO/PC is gonna have a larger install base than Switch.

Ok according the to 4chan rumor it says "combat is being changed to be more acceptable for the west"

I wonder if it refers to something like bowgunning/ bowing being like more easier to aim . It was pretty clunky with the aiming which I'm sure alot of people didn't like when they play the MHP series.

You know, I didn't notice it at the time, but the lack of hit-flashes is really hurting the impact of the hits there. It looks really off without them.

And I should know that as a GS main since the test demo for the first game.

As far as I know hit flashes determined affinity damage. A weapon with positive affinity had light pinkish slashes for bonus critical damage and for negative affinity weapons had dark purplish slashes for reduced damage.

i wouldnt be surprised if they made the combat more fluid like Gods Eater, where you can combo and cancel your attacks.

You're absolutely correct, but that's the thing here: there's no effect at all. Jumping GS attacks are practically guaranteed to be a crit, so seeing it missing is rather jarring.

Visually, it's what I was expecting/hoping for out of a new HD MonHun. Some of the gameplay mechanics they showed in the trailer I feel a bit iffy about, especially the detective sight. I hope they don't totally destroy the games fun, goofy charm in the pursuit of western audiences.

I'm cautiously optimistic and taking a wait and see approach. I hope we get a nice visual bump like this if/when they produce a MH for the ground up for Switch, if that's still going to happen.

I like it. Looks like MH1 rebooted. A lot of people probably isnt used to seeing MH without crazy looking monsters and gear that we have now.

Jealous of the Glory that is Johnny Depp
I can see why they included stealth in this if the zones aren't segregated into different areas.

They need to give the player a chance to flee and escape from a monster if shit goes bad and if this is indeed open, as in the zones not being segregated like in previous MH, then being able to hide from the monster as a means to retreat is a good compromise.

The added vertical movement with grappling hook is nice, too.

It is PS4 exclusive in Japan, they definitely paid for that.

I dunno know about that. I think it's more Xb1 is dead and PC MonHun performed like shit, so why bother if I were Capcom.

Okay, now this clicking into place. Actually smart on the dev team if it works as believed.

There's no point discussing the 4chan rumor anymore. We're going to be seeing more of the game very soon. If it was an actual leak, the poster could have been exaggerating or stretching the truth, too.

That looked awesome , the characters animation for running away was hilarious. But the coolest part was the wall run up then he jumped off and slashed down

Yup, that's a westernised AAA game. Looks pretty but after hundreds of hours with the series it's really not really what I want from MonHun at first glance. Will keep an eye on it though.

I wouldn'f say its a betrayal TBH. Betrayal would be if MH never comes out again to a Nintendo console like how the FF series shifted to PS after FFVII. I'm waiting for MH5 at TGS TBH now.

They aren't gonna announce MH5 at TGS when MH:W wont even be out for like 4-6 more months.

PC release? Fuck yes.

I'm sure longtime fans of the series will find plenty to dislike about this one, but as a person with a passing interest who's been waiting (and waiting...) for an HD take on it, I'm ready to jump in on day one.

Not sure I like the direction the games have taken after 3U. The game is at it's best when it's focused on tight pattern recognition, arcade combat. I'm going to remain optimistic, but the trailer wasn't super exciting.

Maybe . The question was what did monster hunter fans think of this. Not about Nintendo and Capcom and their relationship. For me personally if the Switch gets nothing (I don't count a port of an expansion of Monster Hunter X/Generations as a comparable offering) announced then I feel Capcom can F themselves. They can take their shitty online having Ultra Street Fighter with them.

You seem a little too invested in this. Relax. The Switch is getting a Monster Hunter game at least.
