Damn, well that's good to know. Better stick wirh the C9 then. Buddy was hoping the G2 would kind of come near what the S95B is doing but based on these comments it's not even close.

QD OLED's substantial improvement is in color brightness, not white. The S95B is 2-3x brighter than the G2 is almost every color and would blow it out of the water in content that is graded to take advantage of it (which admittedly most theatrical films are not).

But for games it's a different story. I noticed it when I tried RDR2 in the snow side by side C9 vs S95B, same with Metro Exodus, Cyberpunk with the neon lights, fire effects etc. For movies he's with the C9 but he hoped the G2 would come a lot closer to S95B in games.

To be 100% sure i was seeing things I measured it and it's true.

So does LG have some kind of different tech in terms of this? I must say I quite prefer it over S95B, but I don't get what's causing it. C9 is in 16/9 with just scan enabled and S95B is that too with fit to screen.

Sounds like there some HDMI overscan going on? I think it's called "Just Scan" on LG which you should turn off in picture > additional settings.

Just Scan should be on with LGs. The Pixel Shift setting will also need to be turned off if you don't want any overscan at all. It reserves a few % of the screen to shift it around. It's too little to actually do anything for burn in though as HUDs and logos are many many times larger than what it can reasonably shift around. You're right!!! This seems to be it. This was on all the time. I actually like the bigger characters and cars though, haha. Kinda wish Sammy had this setting too. Ngl.

Finally got around to upgrading from my ol' Panasonic EX750 that I've had several years, passed the beauty onto my brother, and went OLED instead of LCD again by picking up a Philips 48" OLED806. The Panasonic was a nice TV considering, but this new one blew it out of the water on the first movie viewing with an UHD Bluray of Alien. Only downer so far is the lack of HDMI 2.1 on my 2080ti, can do 4k/120Hz in monitor mode but with none of the other TV features enabled. Settled on 1440p as I can then use HDR & GSync with a performance boost too - looks a bit softer but it'll do for now till I upgrade the GPU. PS5 works great so far, picked up VRR etc on the TV straight away.

I suppose now I need to upgrade my UHD player too as it only does HDR10 & HDR10+, so no Dolby Vision yet unless I use the Apple TV app.

oh and Ambilight is legit. You'd think its a gimmick but it works so well, especially with games as the light sits in your peripheral vision and makes the TV feel bigger.

Should be ok for that use case as it'll be your phone connected to the network and then streaming the video to the Chromecast. Not sure if you can control with the TV remote, been a while since I last used one myself. You could also try mirroring your phone screen. The Panasonic I used to have would allow for a direct connection between phone & TV so wouldn't need to go through the home network. Not sure if TV's still have that functionality though

A firestick 4k, chromecast and basically any streaming box will help your case there.


The Nvidia shield and shield pro are the best streaming boxes out there and have better upscaling plus can use plex server + be a somewhat decent emulation box if you are interested in that kind of thing.

My hope is to find something that is as cheap as possible but is nothing less than the quality the TV/Xbox Netflix give. Those first two are probably want I want, because a shield isn't exactly cheap, right? Man it's so annoying that the console Netflix app to this day forces HDR on every single thing.

Yessir, those will do good for you. I can vouch for the fire stick 4k personally. Decent little device for 50 bucks or so. Usually goes on sale as well

Probably. From what I understand the video etc from compatible apps is processed on the phone and then wirelessly streamed to the chromecast to display on the TV. I guess it will be limited by what your phone can do.

Smart tv was a huge huge mistake! This really sucks to hear that Samsung is already gimping their new tv, it's got to be a new record for them.

Just upgraded my tv not too long ago. Had a 48" LG CX as my main tv and worked well at my old place, but since the wife and I moved to a few months ago I wanted something bigger.

Anyway, I picked up a Panasonic 65" JZ2000. Still need to get used to the much larger size, but definitely loving the tv so far.
48" CX is now in my room connected to my desktop PC and slightly older game consoles. XSX and Switch dock are connected to the main Panasonic.

Woke up this morning to a crash. My dog got behind my entertainment center to retrieve a ball he'd been tossing down the stairs and on his exit he knocked over my Bravia LCD. The good news is the dog is okay. The "bad" news is the LCD is not. I'm going to dip my toe back into the OLED world after a miserable experience with my E7 (panel uniformity out of the box and later burn in under two years of usage). I'm not going to miss the Bravia. Going back to local dimming zones was a bummer and the wireless card in set interfered with my consoles. I also regret going to 65". It was just too big.

I ordered a G1 55". These are on sale right now which is a bonus and even though it is last years model, it comes with the Evo panel. I'm also a little weary of the new brightness levels of the C2/G2 but again that's probably due to my experience with the E7. The downside to the G1 is that I can't wall mount it because of my living room setup, it doesn't come with a stand and I'm pretty sure I need a new stand because of how wide the feet are on the set. I hope I made the right choice.

You made the right call. G1 is a great model, and I personally think that it's superior to the C2, which in some ways is arguably inferior to the C1, depending on how nitpicky you are.

Rip to your 950g. Hope your g1 has good uniformity. The g1 like the c1 has the best motion out of any OLED display.

If it isn't too late, maybe change the order to a c1 since you won't have to piss around with a separate stand that way.

I don't think you can go wrong, but I think the G1's extra brightness is worth it. Yeah, the stand issue is annoying, but you get EVO and a 5 year warranty.

I wouldn't worry so much on getting the evo panel or not, which you may or may not get on the c1. In fact if it's the older panel, you have a better chance at good uniformity because it will have come from south Korea vs. China.

G1 has the software to utilize the slightly higher brightness of "evo" while c1 doesn't, but it is just a slight increase and still doesn't have a heatsink like g2, Sony a95k etc.

Imo esp. since you're not wall mounting I would have gone with the c1, as the hdr is really awesome on that set anyways, but either way good luck.

I own the S95B. Latest update. Everything is fine. The TV wasn't accurate before in filmmaker mode, Samsung didn't gimp anything. A similar situation happened with my LG B6 long after launch, and there was the same uproar.


For comparison, I'm not noticing a huge leap in image quality from the B6. It's a little brighter. The screen uniformity is much better, and the motion is smoother (I don't know if it's VRR or reduced judder). I'm still playing with the settings.


My biggest issues are the software and remote. Holy SHIT, they are both so bad. I have very simple demands of my software, and Samsung doesn't even get the basics right. Switching inputs is a pain in the ass.

I posted about this earlier in the thread. Worst remote ever bundled with a television. It's a goddamn disgrace, and even more of a disgrace that reviewers have failed to mention it whatsoever, or marginalized the issue.

Guys, i want a 75-85 inch tv for my attic. I cant afford an oled that big. Any LEDs you can recommend which wont make me regret not getting another but smaller OLED? Needs to be visibly cheaper however... Have a 65 inch b9 in the living room so that will be my point of reference.

Was trying to wait for sales for the 77 lg oleds but those are never majorily discounted over here.

I don't know man. Another owner of the TV on AVS is on 1302 or newer, I'm on 1211. He said that if I want an indication of how game mode would look with 1302 I needed to use FMM during games. So I did with Gears 5 Hivebusters with the part in the first level with lots of fire and fire sparkles (or however you call it) and they were intense, bright as hell, piercing almost on HDR Game mode and way dimmer with FMM.

No way in hell will I firmware update it.

Plus, given how 4K is barely present on the new consoles, smaller displays do all those 1080-1440p games a huge favor.

So all depends on what type of content you'll mostly spend your time on.

After measuring, I canceled my G1 order and got a C1 instead which was local. I probably saved $800+ since I don't need new furniture. I got a Q panel so non-Evo. Just got done setting it up. I'm glad I dropped down to 55". 65" was just too much real estate.

Agree that 65" is too big, I love my 49" x900e, has more pixel density and is more forgiving on upscaling low res games.

The vast majority of games are running over 1440p,and have been for a while, even if not native 4k

I probably would have pulled the trigger as that's a good deal and I could always convert into a desk monitor later but going from 65" -> 48" might be a bridge too far. Also Best Buy had 24 months of no interest financing for purchases over $1,000.00 so there is that.

Sony and samsung are pretty much your only choices, sony x95j-k or any in the 90 lineup, avoid x80j and x80k iirc as they are not that great for samsung you would look at the qleds like the qn90

I just bought the 65 inch version at Best Buy on July 4th. I started having an issue when playing Doom Eternal on 120 fps mode where the TV would reboot itself during moments of intense action. I have seen reddit threads on this. I have never had this issue with my 48 inch C1 in my bedroom.

It happens exactly like this.





I cannot simply just return and exchange it at Best Buy as it was deliveried and it will not fit in my car. I plan to hold LGs feet to the fire on this. I am just hoping someone here might have had a similar issue and found a an easy fix that doesn't involve anything drastic.

I asked it on several forums too, AVS, AVSforum, OLED subreddit and so on. Owners of the tv and they all say the same, it's not worth it if one already has the C9. One person said it absolutely was worth it, but then he said he went from a B9 to a C2, there is a significant brightness difference between B9 and C9.

I did my research, for as much as that is possible.

Until getting a CX I didn't really use TVs at all and I've gotta say, what I really hate about these is how the different video modes aren't equivalent at the same settings...

Game mode dims very heavily to the point of being unusable. Also game mode + HDR makes it so no pixels turn off for... some reason? At least on my set. Basically game mode sucks and made me disappointed over the TV at first, but switching to standard fixed those issues.

Then when I output from my computer I don't get peak brightness options for SDR modes (presumably because of ALLM kicking in, maybe also PC mode does this) BUT if I use vivid mode that enables peak brightness.

I wish they'd stop pulling this shit and just let people adjust the complete settings in a sane, transparent way. That way I would know how the TV works in the first day of ownership instead of months down the line after random experimentation.

How dark is your room? If it's too bright the C1 might not have enough brightness to bring out its OLED strengths.

If it's a dark room the C1 easily for that price between the 2.
