What are some games you remember enjoying, but have generally been forgotten to the sands of time?

Sands of Time is actually a good example

ED: I'm going to say a specially mid game that I did love very much: SimCity Societies. I don't know what I enjoyed so much about this one, but I definitely loved it. But now it's currently almost impossible to find out.

Viking: Battle For Asgard is pretty much forgotten but it did some interesting things with an open world and large scale mobs - a bit of a precursor to Days Gone.

I Had a lot of fun with friends with the PS2 version of destruction derby, in the same vein full auto on 360.

The conflict series had some fun co-op and sp games.

some of my other picks have actually gotten remakes or are getting soon like Croc and Rocket Knight (sparkster)

I loved this game. I spent so many hours on that tower defense mode against the A.I. So good.
Shame there is no modern way to play this game, I tried seeing if it was available on PS3, but I don't think it is....and it doesn't seem straightforward to play on PC either

This was a really fun arcade style racer made by Polyphony Digital before they made Gran Turismo. It was one of the more technically impressive early PlayStation games as well. I don't know anyone else who played it and it seems like nobody talks about it.

Goofy music, non boring realistic driving and un-textured Gouraud shading polygons. What's not to like?

Mine are:

Scorched Earth, a predecessor to Worms that I find more appealing with its ground physics.

Black Moon Chronicles, I've played this game a lot in a friend's house since I didn't had the PC to move it. From the golden age of French development. The vampire servant had a super funny dub in Spanish.

Warhammer Dark Omen, what to say about this one? Simply the best. Now you can't buy it anywhere and it's hard to make it run properly. Again a very good dub in Spanish. Who would had say, eh? PC gaming back then…

Edit: maybe it's for the better that Dark Omen is hard to play nowadays. I wonder who'd find my bloated decomposed body on the bed if this ever gets a re-release for iPad.

I remember Stunts, great fun locking the F1 car into tops speed by hitting the jumps correctly. Then getting into a crash and launching into the stratosphere.

That vehicle definitely looks a lot like the cyber truck.

For my pick I'll add Metaltech: Earthseige. I remember playing it quite a bit as a teenager.

Micro Machines Turbo Tournament 96. Played the hell out of this on Mega Drive. Supports up to 4 players at once. It was epic at the time. Easily the most played title I had back then with the lads.

I still remember the madness that was the J-Cart - that and trying to constantly one up my brother's best times on Driller Killer.

I also remember spending a lot of time on a game called Ronin Blade - an early precursor to Onimusha that was probably way worse than I remember it being.

ESWAT: City Under Siege

Hmm, Nightmare Creatures maybe? Dungeon Siege? Sonic Spinball? I don't talk about games much with people in real life, so it's hard to get a gauge on what's really forgotten these days. People on enthusiasts sites like this know everything :messenger_grinning_smiling:

I remember being a beast at this game at the arcades back in the days.

After the Tony Hawk games went big, some developers tried to make sports games in the same vein that few remember, some of them were great, like Aggressive Inline, Freekstyle or Kelly Slaters Pro Surfer.

Sierra Championship Boxing - 1984 (PC)

I used to max out that kangaroo's stats and just sit back, watching it beat the doo-doo out of its opponents in CPU vs. CPU combat.

Edit - I was just 12 years old at the time.

This game had really great production value despite this game being niche and the character design was done by Tite Kubo (Bleach).

Bloody Roar seems oddly forgotten these days.

all the other fighting game series get rereleases or even new entries, but Bloody Roar is the one that just seems completely dead, both in terms of releases and in terms of online discussion.

so, I'd say Bloody Roar Primal Fury for GameCube is mine

Arx Fatalis. Arkane Studios, 2002. I played on the original Xbox. For some reason, this one got stuck in memory. Maybe because it was one of the first RPGs I played, and it was very atmospheric. The game takes place entirely underground.

Odd sidenote: When I'm in stairwells, the little Arx Fatalis theme will play in my head. I'm not sure why it's always stairwells, but that's how it goes. I can't bring it to memory now, but put me in a stairwell, and it'll start playing. It's been over 20 years since I played the game, and this still happens.

There was a very enjoyable game that I played where I drilled for oil and earned money. Problem is, I can not remember the name. The graphics was made up from the symbols available from the keyboard, one of those where you copied the code in Basic from one of those thick British computer magazines in 1970s.

There was Breakout of course, good mindless fun. Big solid shape on top on dark background where you broke of a piece with the paddle below, left to right to left to right, clicking fast on the keyboard to get to the falling white block. Ran in 8K RAM on one of those computers where the screen and keyboard was housed in one solid unit. That was the very first one I typed in, copied in Basic from a Britsh computer magazine, onto the tape in the tape recorder. Annoyingly, it did not work the first time so I had to type it in all over again. Even more annoyingly, me sister beat my record. My father really liked Lunar Lander, but I never got the hang of that one, too difficult for my teenage self.

Another fun one was a horse racing game, seven «horses». It was smartest to pick number one in the inner lane. My younger sister and I picked a horse each and saw who won. One round around the track. The computer raced the horses, that is the rudimentary horselike shapes made up of symbols from the keyboard. Not sure if it had a name beyond horse racing game. Fun times. Reminds me that you do not need fancy graphics and high resolutions to enjoy a game.

Shouldn't be too hard to get it running on an emulator. I have most of them running very well on my Deck. Just don't have the rom of this specific game (yet).

Also, does anyone remember Ghost in the Shell on PS1? That was a cool game, too!

Spec Ops: The Line. One of the best shooters on the PS3 and one of the best narratives ever made for a game. It's currently delisted on Steam and I hope they get it sorted out because I'd love to do another run on the RTX. It starts off as your typical bro shooter but then the story gets going and it gets sooo good and taking place in the middle of a catastrophic sandstorm ... It's a must play imho from that era of games.
It is interesting you mention this one. I bought it way back when it came out but never got around to actually playing the game and over the years I just kept on hearing (here, other forums, twitter, friends) how good it is so I never got an impression that it was forgotten. Finally played it earlier this year and while I enjoyed it, I'm not entirely sure if they nailed that psychological aspect of it, but that is just me. Perhaps after hearing so much how dark it is, I expected an even more nuanced phantasmagorical trip into one's damaged psyche.

I was surprised to see that barely anyone knows about the game. And was genuinly surprised when they released a remaster of it

Haha this gave me flashbacks to 2009/10 when the dude at the GameStop I went to LOVED Mini Ninjas.

He was also eagerly awaiting Naughty Bear. I wonder what he thought of that one :messenger_grinning_smiling:

I had the official 'Mini mini ninjas!' ringtone. It was in exactly the accent you'd expect and most annoying - perfect.

I'd probably be kicked out of places for having it these days.

I really miss this game. I always wanted to see it return with a sequel, but Blasphemous is pretty much a modern day version of this game anyway.
