Director - Marc Webb

Starring - Rachel Zegler, Gal Gadot, Andrew Burnapp, Martin Klebba, Ansu Kabia

A beautiful girl, Snow White, takes refuge in the forest in the house of seven dwarfs to hide from her stepmother, the wicked Queen. The Queen is jealous because she wants to be known as "the fairest in the land," and Snow White's beauty surpasses her own.

The Hollywood Reporter - David Rooney
Webb proves equally adept at romantic interludes, attack scenes and production numbers, notably the joyous finale, “Good Things Grow,” with the entire cast outfitted by Powell in resplendent white. Sure, those poorly integrated CG little people take some getting used to, but this is the type of wholesome and uplifting family entertainment that comes directly from old-school Disney DNA.
Awards Watch - Erik Anderson [C+]
Snow White is more clearly made for children than most of the other Disney live-action remakes, and its focus on being a fairytale helps with that goal. This is a simple story that anyone can understand and enjoy, with a cheer-worthy lead and some catchy, if unmemorable, new songs. The film threads the needle about as well as it possibly could, which is impressive even if it doesn’t mean the film is actually great. You may not be whistling on your way out of the theater, but at least watching Snow White doesn’t feel like work.
Variety - Owen Glieberman
You could say that we’ve seen other fairy-tale rulers a lot like this one. Yet movies connect in mysterious ways. Who would have thought that a Disney live-action remake could seem this pointedly political? In the end, the most resonant romantic feeling “Snow White” leaves you with may be: Someday my chintz authoritarian will come tumbling down.
FandomWire - Manuel
Rachel Zegler is the heart and soul of this film. Not only does she deliver an impressive vocal performance, but she also radiates charisma and emotion in every scene. Her Snow White is fearless, fair, brave, and true like she should be, elevating the character to a new level of sophistication. It’s disappointing to see how many people will leave outside influences to shape their perception of her work because this is, without a doubt, one of the most memorable performances of the year from one of the most talented actresses of her generation.
Independent (UK) - Clarisse Loughrey [1/5]
With Snow White, they’ve finessed their formula -- do the bare minimum to make a film, then simply slap a bunch of cutesy CGI animals all over it and hope no one notices. The film’s prince, played by Andrew Burnap and, for some reason, called Jonathan, is essentially Disney cannibalising itself, as he has the same thief backstory and curtain bangs as Tangled’s Flynn Rider. There’s self-cannibalisation at work, too, in Sandy Powell’s costumes, which are dour replicas of their animated counterparts. At times, Zegler’s bob leans dangerously close to “little Dutch boy”. What’s most disheartening about it all is how predictable Disney’s choices have become.
The Daily Beast - Nick Schager
From a strictly political standpoint, it provides a more enlightened portrait of female independence. Such a nominal improvement, however, proves inherently incompatible with its source material, and the resultant awkwardness defines this misfire, whose every duplication is underwhelming, and whose every alteration is less a move in the right direction than a step on a face-smacking rake. No Magic Mirror is needed to identify it as the lamest Mouse House re-do of them all.
Guardian - Peter Bradshaw [1/4]
Those otherwise estimable performers Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot are now forced to go through the motions, and they give the dullest performances of their lives. Here is a pointless new live-action musical version of the Snow White myth, a kind of un-Wicked approach to the story and a merch-enabling money machine. Where other movies are playfully reimagining the backstories of famous villains, this one plays it straight, but with carefully curated revisionist tweaks.
RogerEbert.com - Nell Minow
Some parts of the film work better than others, but none of it has the sweetness and imagination of the animated feature. This “Snow White” is not the fairest of them all. It’s just, well, fair. The other core elements of any version of this story are all present here, with varying degrees of success. Near the top is replicating Disney’s version of the iconic magic mirror that answers the question about fairness (the mirror for “Sydney White’s” nemesis is the online campus popularity poll). This one is close to the 1937 film’s design, familiar to Disney fans through many appearances in various productions, from the “Wonderful World of Disney” series of the 1950s, when it was voiced by Hans Conried, through the popular “Descendents: Wicked World” series of 2015-17.
The Film Verdict - Alonso Duralde
Like so much of contemporary fantasy cinema, Snow White exists in a weirdly artificial netherworld, and not just where the seven dudes are concerned.
AV Club - Jacob Oller
For every attempt to replicate majestic shots from the original or to give them a bit of technological oomph (perhaps most effective as sunlight breaks through Snow White’s fearful first trip through the forest), there is a spurt of modern quippiness that pulls the audience in the other direction. It’s a disorienting take on a film whose success relied as much on its elegance as its beauty, and yet, thanks to sunny songstress Rachel Zegler, there is a talented throughline still obvious amidst the mess.
New York Magazine/Vulture - Alison Willmore
Snow White is, for better and (mostly) worse, a product of a corporation that has for years been lumbering after its idea of the zeitgeist with all the agility of an aging colossus. That, in chasing something vaguely progressive and YA-inspired with Snow White, Disney has turned out a film with some hilariously timely choices is a great joke, though I wouldn’t call it an intentional one. The most pragmatic aspect of Snow White is that with its plasticky set design and gift shop tacky costuming, it already looks like it takes place in a theme park — no adaptations necessary.
Consequence - Liz Shannon Miller [C+]
At the end of the day, the best parts of Snow White are the parts that feel genuinely real and authentic. If only there were more of those, and less screen time spent dancing in the realm of mind-breaking absurdity.
The Playlist - Rodrigo Perez [C-]
Films are supposed to be passion projects, even the biggest and kitschiest, but one wonders what in this material compelled Marc Webb to dedicate two years of his life to this hollow and soulless project seemingly meant to move merchandise other than hopefully what was a very handsome paycheck. White interjecting its social commentary, “Snow White” otherwise tackles much of the same ideas, but it’s all put together in a very familiar and garish package. The fairest in the land? Far from it.

i mean dwarfism is literally the medical term isn't it.
I think the 'bad word' is the m-word, midget?
Yeah I think you're right, it's the m word they don't like, but sometimes they get uppity about dwarf too, no idea why.

By the way, ya ever been to a midget wrestling show? Holy shit are they fun. Midget stripper shows are hilarious too, just great fun.

Oh yeah, uh....bummer about the movie for any grown men here who were excited about seeing a Disney film for children.

“She hates you all”

This compulsion to make yourself the main character and the victim of these things is odd. But that’s the culture war for you.

A while back someone on here told me I have an obligation to talk about this film. They had fully bought in that much.
Well, considering Ziegler said she hopes Trump supporters know no peace, I think "she hates you all" is accurate for the people Chrissie Mayr is talking to.

Does Rotten Tomatoes always show All Critics and only Verified Audience? I never visit the site so I truly don't know.

Because that actually paints Snow White in the best possible light.

If you click on Top Critics the score is 28% and if you click on All Audience the score is 24%.

Rachel actually did a good job as snow white ... But the movie as a whole was, IMO, boring. Rachel was the best things about it. The rest .... Zzzzzzzz

The aura and aesthetics of this movie are some of the worst I've ever seen. Just everything about it looks some combination of off, cheap, and shitty.

Political stuff aside, this looked shit and was always going to be shit. Disney are creatively bankrupt and have been for years. I'll be eye rolling hard when they start blaming this movies failure on anything but the movie itself. The movie and AAA games industry are basically the same these days.

Donn't care about this movie so:

My Indian-Style Chai Tea Recipe:

1. 800 mL good quality full fat milk
2. 220 mL clean water
3. 2 full Spoons sugar (Per taste)
4. 2 full spoons of good quality black tea (Leaves or Coarse Ground)
5. 3 cloves
6. 4 cardamom pods (open and separate into the tea)
7. A small piece of cinnamon (0.5 teaspoon)
8. A small piece of star anise

Mix all the ingredients in a clean pan on low heat. Keep mixing lightly until the tea boils, mix for 2 minutes more then turn off the heat. Use a filter before pouring the tea into cups to remove all the ingredients. Add more sugar later if required. The sugar can be replaced with honey to decrease the calorie count.

It should come out very slightly brown and red. Very fragrant and good for a warm refreshing drink.

Well.....how were the weekend returns?
Bad.

$85M global. Same number of days and approximately the same gate receipts as Dumbo from 2019. Dumbo did $350M overall.

Movie budget was minimum $270M production costs excluding reshoots and marketing. And the studio only gets about a 50% cut of theatre tix sales.

The crazy thing is after reshoots and marketing it'll probably be around $400M budget.

And it's not like this is a movie where the budget is eaten up by the cast. Googling it, Gal Gadot got paid $15M and Rachel Z $1 to $3M pending what site you read. I think it's $1M base + bonus. The rest of the cast are nonames who will be cheap. Probably $20M in cast salaries. Maybe $25M tops.

The rest of it is all CGI, production crew and marketing costs.

If anyone wants a high paying job, apply to Disney. Any of their TV shows or movies have sky high costs with zero concern for revenue. She Hulk TV show was 9 episodes costing $225M. They make media content with unlimited budgets.

I wonder where Rachel’s career goes from here. She has nuclear heat. Can’t imagine many studios wanting her for a project.

This is being review bombed to the the point where I think I'm actually going to go see it.

I mean, after six years and with far more viewers in the cinema, let alone the home audience, Dumbo has 83K reviews ratings on IMDB, while Snow White already has 69K after just a weekend.

Unless she's the luckiest person in the world still getting AAA roles, she'll probably get second rate roles. Or maybe she'll do Broadway or live theatre. In her short career, she's somehow been blessed doing a Steven Spielberg movie, superhero movie, Hunger Games sequel and a Disney movie. She's had her chances.

Right now, it's not like her Hollywood salaries are giant. And it's hard to believe it'll balloon in Hollywood. Her biggest pay day is Snow White at $1-3M. Googling it, all her other movies that had data she got paid $250k - $750k each. Couldnt find her salary for that Y2K NF movie.

The only movie she's done which did great financially (vs budget) and got decent reviews too was Hunger Games. All her other movies either bomb out financially, or reviews, or both.

That sounds like a alot but it's not that crazy if you think about it.

Average ticket price is about 10 bucks nationwide, let's say 12 dollars for this movie since the audience skews liberal and the majority live in cities with higher costs.

43 million dollars for the opening weekend equates to about 3.6 million people who watched the movie. That makes 69k ratings about 1.9% of the viewing public. Add the controversial nature/actors of the film which would motivate more people to rate, and 69k doesn't sound so unreasonable anymore.

If you look at the written reviews on there, the handful of positive ones have been hammered with 'unhelpful' ratings. People have been waiting for this to open so they can kick its teeth in on IMDB. I'm not saying it's a great movie, as the critics don't seem to like it much either, but I suspect a lot of the people who rated it have no intention of ever watching it.

I'm still continuously baffled by the complete lack of interest by Disney's investors in the performance of the company. Either 100% of shareholders of Disney are completely invested in The Message™ and are willing to lose infinity money to further their Woke Agenda™ or there is something seriously fucking wrong with the corporate governance of that company. I refuse to believe that 100% of Disney investors are perfectly happy with the financial performance of Disney and continue to vote for More of the Same despite the fact the company's stock is in the sewer system after being flushed down the toilet

If I was a Disney investor I would be livid. Thank God I'm not

This is being review bombed to the the point where I think I'm actually going to go see it.

The problem is that low ass argument aways keeping coming back again and again.
Why when theres a bad movie/series its aways the fault of review bombing? Same happened to Lightyear, Velma, Acolyte, and many others.
Also, didn't pass through your mind that people cast unhelpfull because...they are not being helpfull at all? Specially with parents wanting to see if its actually safe for their children? Hence why reviews are for.

People really need a better argument. Btw go there and watch it, I don't think anyone is barring you from it. This brainrot attitude needs to end.
