Giant Bombcast - | 01-01-2013 |

Brad was the highlight. It didn't feel like he was being forced to be on the show. lol :P

Also...BROTHERHOOD LOVE

Any games of the year deliberation spoilers? I still haven't listened to them all yet.

I find it funny that you are worried about podcast spoilers, yet people were saying things like "stop being a baby about game spoilers" and what not on the thread about their GOTY podcast

I don't know if I should watch or listen to the podcast now that I have a choice D:

Which one is preferable?!

Thank God they talked about how awful all of the ball drop coverage has become now on TV. Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy - BLAH.

We had to turn to FOX at the last minute as ABC was not live, and the woman was talking over the whole ball drop and didn't even KNOW it was dropping (she was talking about how the police wouldn't disclose how many "boots" were on the ground for security. Why do I care about that at 11:59:30 P.M>?!!!!!)

Ryan says the overall GOTY early on in the show.

edit: thanks Zaph, haha
Assy, all right well fuck

Problem is for some reason this year my wife wants to listen to all the deliberation podcasts with me, and we're only halfway through, but I want the decisions to be a surprise even though I think I know what their GOTY is going to be. Oh well

Did Jeff actually link to that on Twitter or did you search for it? If it's the latter then that's kinda creepy.
Jeff's tumblr is a goldmine (scroll down about a third for the review).

Wanna see creepy? Check out this dude asking about his love life and Jeff actually responding with an earnest answer.

Just out of curiosity, give us your sealed envelope prediction.

Pfft that's an amateur example, you want to see the true extent to how creepy some giantbomb fans are? Let me tell you. Someone on their forums managed to track down, God know how, a book Vinny had written about how he met his wife and their marriage. What's creepier is that one of them even bought the book.

So, uh, yeah.
While it's a cute book, it feels sort of like I've just gone and crashed their wedding. I can't be the only one who ordered one of these, right?

Not sure how apparent this is, but sorry about the huge size of the photo. No access to any image editing software

After this I can no longer be creeped out by obsessed Giantbomb fans.

Be honest, what's the closest you've come to playing Persona 4 Golden over this break?

At one point I picked up the backpack that might have my Vita in it because I was looking for a cable. Not sure if it’s actually in there or not.
Vicious Jeff is best Jeff.

Thats weird.

Maybe Vinny wrote it to show how much he loved his wife and gave close friends and family copies as wedding gifts or something?

Unless Vinny is secretly a author writing and publishing romance books on the side to make some quick scratch?

Here's the thread http://www.giantbomb.com/forums/off-topic/31/vinny-wrote-a-book/468172/?
Also the book was found on this site http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/908902 where you can buy it, so that poster actually bought the book 0_o
In my defence, it's not like I've made a shrine out of his skin flakes and pubic hair.
The book was only three quid, so I figured it'd be an amusing conversation piece. It wasn't until people pointed out that it was a wedding favour that things started feeling kind of creepy.

On top of all that, it came in a huge fucking box that was way overkill, requiring the FedEx guy drive out to the house on a cold, icy night.
It's been a bit of an embarrassment on all fronts.

Still, the book is really sweet, even if I feel a right cunt for reading it. :(

From the thread on GB, seems like yeah, it's probably for people close to them. The reason it's available online was probably for friends/family to access who couldn't make it? It's a little weird that someone with no real life connection to them thought it was a good idea to buy and read it.

I notice on the site that it is a premium video (poor show guys it is the Bombcast), but non members can still watch it on the twitch site.

That's pretty much the standard for the TNT's, a lot of their live stuff and PAX podcasts. Unlike the Twitch archive, the premium video is a high quality, locally rendered video.

I'm so glad the Giant Bomb community exists, if only to make GAF look better in comparison. Thankfully, Vinny is a good sport.

At least the guy seems to see he made a mistake.

If I had a CC and too much money and randomly learned Vinny wrote a book I might have done the same without thinking as well.

Still thats a pretty cool little thing to do for a wedding. Oh Caravella you smooth guy you.

Edit.. actually that thread was 2 YEARS ago.

double edit. No wait vinny had a baby this year. Dave was the one who got hitched.

I just spent 30 minutes looking through people's private wedding and family photos (although actually not Vinny's) and I feel dirty in a way that makes me want to blame the site for being so open.

That tumblr sure has weird questions...

thisemptybox asked:what were the stains on your shirt in the collectshun video

Mustard and soy sauce. They were a last-minute addition, so I essentially poured those things onto myself after I was already wearing the shirt.

I practically gagged a little bit due to the disgusting smell of mustard.

Don't listen to Ryan about AC: Revelations, Brad! If you like Ezio's character it is totally a must play for the closure. He is the suavest old man ever.

indeed. i dunno how Ryan can be so wrong about that. one of the only GB guys who finished all the games. Brad should skip AC3 over Rev if given the choice.

Also watch the AC:Embers short animation after finishing AC:Revelations to finalize Ezio's story.

AND SEE WHAT COULD'VE BEEN AC:CHINA. Damn still salty, I wanted to play as Shao Jun... :(

she's a girl
so i bet it'll be a portable release.

Whoa thanks for the reco. That was great.

Man, Ezio is such a well flushed out character, and Shao Jun seems super interesting. Loved his story. Makes AC3 that much more disappointing.

That's the way to go, yup. Shame you have to pay for AC Embers to get the full ending to the Ezio story, but it was fairly cheap even at launch.

Yeah, you're right. The reasons for playing AC Rev keep piling up.

I feel sad for Patrick still wanting a Vita but having missed out on the Amazon Black Friday deal. Mine only cost me $150 after selling the download codes, and it could have been even cheaper if I had bothered to sell AC3 Liberation.

Oh man. I write for a site (just for fun) with a couple of long time friends and yesterday we did our own GOTY deliberations and AC3 ended up being #6 on the list. I was really annoyed because not only was it not on my list but it was definitely my most disappointing GOTY.

I just have so many problems with AC3. From the control changes (auto free-run is good for trees, sucks for climbing and running across rooftops), to the mission design (not enough freedom of approach), to the bugginess, to the weird lack of music at times, and also the under use of the frontier as a place where core story missions happen.

Back to Giantbomb's take on AC, one of the things they mentioned in the most disappointing GOTY talk for AC3 was how they barely mentioned Lucy in AC3 or Revelations. The reason is that all of the Lucy stuff ins in the ACR DLC called the Lost Archive. If you want to know about Lucy, play that.
