Who among you will buy the Switch 2 on launch day and then complain about its teething problems?

Okay, I can see it coming. It'll be the same old story. After a big launch, it turns out things aren't perfect, and people will bash Nintendo for putting out a Switch with some flaws. There'll be trolling and complaining. I want to know, who among you is willing to take that risk?
Or will you wait and see what happens, and buy the second wave of Switches?

God forbid people buy an expensive product and expect it to work correctly without being brow-beat by defenders on the internet.

(I will probably wait a while myself but good grief)

I plan to preorder but I'll probably test it and wait to earnestly use the device for a while. Once I have everything I need and I'm ready to start a new game I'll take it out boot it up and be ready to go.

For the record, I have a launch Switch, a launch PS5, launch XSX, launch 3080 aib, and a launch PS5 Pro and they all run tip top. Knock on wood.

I probably won't buy it anytime in the next 5 years. But in general, I can't imagine buying a console in its first 2~ years. You got to wait for its library to build, so even when have larger gaps in releases, you have a backlog to help fill it. Plus, it ensures you avoid other possible issues, be it early hardware, software, or even scalping issues, it just doesn't make sense to buy a console in its first year or two.

I'm not going to buy it but I'll complain

If everyone did that then nobody would ever sell any hardware, ever.

Switch 2 is BC with the Switch so I can play new games as well as new 3rd party games as well as my backlog. I bought PS5 day 1 because of the same reason.

I look forward to playing these games on Switch 2 by end of the year I hope:

Hades 2
Silksong
Metroid Prime 4
Mario Kart World Tour
Duskbloods
DK Bananza
raidou remastered

My current switch backlog is way too big to list, but here are a few that are likely at least great on switch:

XBCX, XBC3, XBCDE, 13 Sentinels Aegis Rift, Neon White, Bayonetta 2, Baba Is You, Dragonquest XI S, Triangle Strategy, FE Engage, Unicorn Overlord, Disco Elysium

I mean, how many more games do you need?

If everyone did that, maybe instead of hardware never selling, Nintendo would have more then one game release on launch day did you ever think of that? no probably not. Probably no thoughts run through your brain other than "consooooom"

I don't know if I want a Switch 2. Since MP4 isn't a launch title, the MKW direct on Thursday needs to really deliver for me to care about getting a console at launch.

What's the hold up with third party games?

I get the feeling Nintendo is hiding poor performance with early releases for optimized games only!

I know I will probably complain about the joycon sticks... yes they made them bigger, but still use the same shitty mechanism beneath that.
those type of sticks have zero precision and feel clumsy.

I can't wait to get 3rd party hall effect replacement joycons already 🤣

I've pre-ordered so I'll be there day1.

The only thing you gonna see me complain about is the lack of Switch 2 upgrades for games that really need them, because I desperately want to replay some games.

I may also complain about handheld gaming with the thing. Switch 1 was uncomfortable to hold until Hori released their gamepad joycon thingy.

You won't see me complaining about any other issues as that is the risk I take for being an early adopter. Lack of games is also something I don't complain about.

Good thing for you the Switch 2 can naturally improve and enhance many Switch 1 games.

Well, not sure what Teething is in a gaming console, and I'm pretty much against being early adopter, but this time I'm too hyped and Nintendo tends to be very good with their quality control so I'll byte it day one if possible.

Nah, i'll do worse. I'll just ignore it like most of market will. Their communication has been terrible and I expect it will be rejected with those game prices. Especially if the 3rd party games releasing that came out years ago end up costing more than other platforms (but look and run worse).

Next mainline Zelda is still at least 3 years away. Nothing they are offering in the short term is worth buying the system for.

I think the person is saying, first year software droughts. Most consoles start of slow. They have initial strong window, then a drought.

Same, at the moment I just want MKW, MP4, and the new Hyrule but mostly the former 2. So they'll need to show more amazing stuff for MKW for me to consider doing it launch but even then I'm not sure if they got free online as long as you have a eternet plug or do I still need to pay for some additional online service to play MKW online with other racers?

Life is too short and unpredictable to hold off for two years to play the new Mario Kart or the best version possible of Metroid Prime 4. Then what, I'm just supposed to buy the new console (which will not be any cheaper) and like fifteen new games (which will also all be regular price) all at the same time and have no time to play all that at once?

There are no gaps in releases anymore, ever. Even Nintendo themselves rarely go more than 1-2 months without a first party release, then you factor in third parties, AA's, indies... there will likely be more games released for Switch 2 by the end of 2025 then I could play through in two years total anyways.

I will buy it day 1, probably won't complain unless there is a hardware issue. I didn't complain about switch 1 at release either, I know what I expected going in.

Did it with

Wii u
Switch
Ps5

nothing new

I would never have any expectation from a Nintendo system outside of playing first party games offline. If you're buying this as a primary gaming platform with the intention of buying third party games here, you can do better elsewhere.

If a multibillion dollar company creates a product over the course of many years, asks for hundreds of dollars and then has a bunch of issues, they should never hear the end of it.

We need to bring back expectations and competence.

Their one job is to provide a full functional piece of equipment that does what they say it will, in return for your hard-earned money. If they fail to do so, they're not good at their job and should be shamed.

So what if you turn on your Switch 2 and you see a bunch of dead pixels. Not enough to prevent you from gaming but enough to notice. Are you going to suck it up and not complain?

I'll treat it much the same way I did PS5: get the new system that still plays older gen stuff while waiting for new games to arrive.
In this case, however, you'll need to purchase game upgrades to fully take advantage of the new specs

That said, I'm not sure if this will apply to all of their games, unlike Sony, who at least offers upgrades for free. Unfortunately, it hasn't been a consistent policy

Oh, it doesn't affect me in this case, I'm getting the Switch 2 mostly for playing Switch 1 games at better performance and resolution. I've already said here that I prefer playing on actual OG hardware, so I'm happy that they confirmed the upgrades.

I'm mostly hyped for continuing playing TOTK since I beat Ganondorf and dropped right after due to not feeling well with 30 fps anymore, I actually played it in two periods since 30 fps ends up being too ugly visually to me (motion fluidity is part of the visual appeal I want from games). Also, they'll definitely announce Metroid Prime 2 and 3 before 4 releases.

"Yeah, who of you fucking losers are excited by a new console that will probably have bugs and jank and are gonna complain? So what you paid like £500 for a new system. Did you expect it to be of a standard worth its cost? Dumbfucks. You do know I own 3 swords and SEVERAL hats"

The fuck is this safety Nintendo blanket safe space topic? Have you got stocks with them or something?

I'm buying Switch 2 day one and hoping it works well without much issue.

Most system I bought day one worked perfectly fine.

I got the Switch(1) day 1 as well, and I did experience the dock scratching my screen a bit. But other than that it's been good. I'm just happy to not have experienced any stick-drift.
