One of the great races of the year is now a half hour old, with a couple hairy moments already. For the longest time the goal was to preserve the car for most of the race, and then to sprint in the final few hours. Not anymore...since the Audi's came in, it's been a 24 hour sprint for anyone who's made it to the finish.
The big storylines are Tom Kristensen going for a record tying 6th Le Mans win (and 5 in a row) in just eight tries, and the awesome battle between Corvette and Prodrive/Ferrari in the GTS class (the #65 Ferrari being co-driven by rallying bad ass Colin McRae). Last year's Champ Car rookie of the year Sebastian Bourdais is also in the race, as is his father Patrick. Should be a fun race, in a weekend that's just going to rule for this sports fan (Euro 2004, Canadian GP, NBA Finals).
