Nintendo is officially closing 3DS and Wii U eShops today, March 27. This is the last chance to buy digital 3DS and Wii U games from both eShops.
Nintendo
announced its decision to sunset both eShops back in Feburary 2022, confirming that while users will still be able to redownload games, receive software updates, and play online even after the shops' closures, new purchases will no longer be possible. Users will also be unable to play free demos or add funds to their Nintendo eShop accounts via the 3DS or Wii U.
Beyond March 27, users with remaining funds in 3DS or Wii U eShops will still be able to use the money towards Switch purchases in the Nintendo eShop. Users can merge their wallets by linking their Nintendo Network ID and Nintendo account.
If you're wondering how much it is to buy every game soon-to-be-delisted, Jirard "The Completionist" Khalil
has an answer. The YouTuber spent $22,791 in total on all Wii U and 3DS games in the eShop. Khalil will donate a portion of the games to organizations like the Video Game History Foundation.
