On March 11, 2025, Ai Mogami (real name: Airi Sato), a 22-year-old livestreamer, was fatally stabbed while broadcasting live from Tokyo's Takadanobaba district. The tragic incident occurred during her livestream of the "Yamanote Line Walking Tour," where she was attacked by Kenichi Takano (42), a man with whom she had a complex financial relationship. As investigations continue, fans who watched the livestream shared their firsthand accounts of the shocking moment.

Viewers who were watching Mogami's livestream that day have shared their experiences of what they saw unfold in real-time. One fan described the scene: "It all happened so suddenly. I heard her yell for help, and then the stream cut to her lying on the ground, covered in blood. Her hair was disheveled, and her eyes were wide open, almost lifeless. It was so shocking, I couldn't process what I was seeing at first."

It seems like the murder was because of financial disputes but still to kill someone in cold blood on the street like that is abhorrent. RIP:messenger_crying:

So, they apologized profusely while stealing your wallet?

I'm having a hard time imagining a japanese hood :p
Shinjuku is fine. The Kabukicho district is the wilder part of Shinjuku, where the host and hostess bars are, and the red light establishments. But it's also a completely mainstream place with tons of tourists, a life size godzilla, arcades, food, shopping, etc. Fun place to hang out, no need to partake in any seediness.

It's hard to compare Japan to other places. Yes, this is where the underworld is, but as a foreigner you're in no danger other than if you let a Nigerian tout drag you to an unmarked bar. Those are scams.

For the locals who get involved with organized crime and prostitution/drugs/host/hostess stuff, though, especially young women, Shinjuku is bad news.

Hood in Japan isn't really what you imagine it. Places like Shibuya are "dangerous" if you get drunk and either start causing some trouble yourself or get taken advantage of. Not too different to certain areas in Thailand etc.

The actual hoods in Japan are small areas that are basically where you go if you are down and out and homeless. Basically Japan's equivalent of Skid Row. They are not really well-known to people not living in the city and just look like normal neighbourhoods with lots of old cheap shops and lodgings.

Takadanobaba is totally innocuous. It's not an area you'd expect any trouble whatsoever, which makes this broad daylight murder especially shocking.

My favourite retro arcade centre (Mikado) is right near where this happened.

How exactly do these hostess bars play out? Different for foreigners or just a hussle to get you to spend?

Sounds like Thailand with the gogo bars and the bar girls getting you to buy them drinks.

It sounds like something that might have been in an 80s or 90s vision of dystopia, a murder live on TV. It should be shocking everyone everywhere, but likely won't make the news wherever you are.

Read the article. Dude had already went to court and won. Despite winning judgement, she refused to pay. This stopped being about money and is more about revenge.
I hate to victim blame but in this case the killer was a victim too. Hopefully this would at least be a lesson to simps and the people that take advantage of them.

You're right. I think a lot of people are looking at the original post thinking "awww she looks cute eating her invisible burger!" But these are very unhealthy relationships where these online thots feign interest in a guy to bleed money out of them.

You can see why it would make someone snap. We'd be better off without onlyfans and the like.

Yep, that arcade is pretty cool.

Most of them don't allow gaijin due to the language barrier.

I sometimes go to roppongi on the weekends to get falafel. A lone white guy walking through there is basically like posting a target on you for the nigerians to come bother you...EVERY SINGLE FUCKING INTERSECTION. I started fucking with em, everytime they come up to me HELLO MY FRIEND YOU WANT TITTAYS,

Every few months the cops clean em all away but they come back in a few weeks

They sound like good fellas to me.

Roppongi also has a bad rep (lots of Yakuza and illegal workers) but like you say, shit doesn't happen to foreigners. As a white english man, I could saunter around there in the dead of night by myself multiple times, no issues.

Huh, dis a little googling and found this about Nigerians in Japan.

Im always surprised when countries allow folks like this in. If you are arresting the same guy over and over and he's not a legal citizen...deport him! Obviously the US and Europe have lost in this area due to sheer numbers, but you'd think japan could still turn it around.

Damn, this story is really complicated and have many twists and turns. this video uncovers more information about the murder.

She emotionally manipulated him and eventually psychologically broke him. The dangers of parasocial relationships are obvious yet vulnerable people seem to always fall into them. She didn't deserve to be murdered like that for what she did, but you also shouldn't fuck around with people you don't know.

The guy sounds mentally unstable.
From a bit of googling he apparently has schizophrenia.

So she scammed a year's salary from a schizo then blocked him and refused to pay it back, but continued to stream in very public places.

Sounds like she was playing with a particularly dangerous fire and got burned in the worst way.

A bad story from start to finish.

Some Japanese guys are now vandalizing the place where she was killed, where people have placed candles and other offerings. that kind of reaction is just pathetic. It's one thing to disagree with someone or even be angry about something, but vandalizing a memorial site? That's just low. It's like they're personally offended as if she reached into their pockets and stole their money. Some people just need to feel righteous about something, even if it means attacking a dead person's memory.

She was clearly very rotten and manipulative but I'll never understand these simps. At the end of the day, the guy is to blame cause he kept giving her money.

Seems like she fucked around long enough to actually find out.

A horrendous act by a derranged individual.

Both of them are absolute awful human beings but at least one of them had the excuse of being mentally sick and having schizophrenia while the other was just being a manipulative degenerate cunt which isnt a sickness as far as I know, just a perk awful people have attributed to themselves in today's world in the process of "improving" their financial gain by stepping on others and losing any decency and self-respect they had in the process.

Thing is...Karma's a bitch, which is something these people never take into account and sooner or later it always comes knocking.

Never heard of this person but clicked on the thread and felt sorry for her at first but knew there was more to this. And now I don't feel sorry for either of them. She was a horrible human being that's already well off and just lie and tricked the guy even when he was already struggling himself. Pure cold hearted. At the same time the guy is a complete moron for even giving and trusting all his money to her. Both got what they deserve, two dumb and trashy human beings faced karma and rightfully so.

Yeah the blame goes to him for even being a idiot in the first place. She's definitely a piece of shit but all she really did was take advantage of his dumbass self. I don't agree with the murder but won't really sorry for her either.

The one thing I didn't get is that he says the dude sued her and won and the judge ordered her to pay back...and then she just didn't ? Without any legal consequences?

Have you guys ever sued a deadbeat before? Winning a judgement is like 10% of the battle. Actually collecting is the real challenge and will cost you money in legal fees every step of the way. A broke person drowning in debt has no chance.

I'm honestly surprised we don't see more of this type of street justice. Not that I condone murder or violence, but when you act outside of the boundaries of the law and subvert the legal process while messing with people's lives, this type of reaction should be expected.

Not sure how it works in Japan, but here in the US almost the only way to actually collect the debt is by wage garnishment through the person's employer. Since this chick's wages were tips and donations from simps on livestreams, there probably wasn't a mechanism in place to collect it and send it to the courts. It'd be almost impossible to collect this debt in the US.

The next step here would be to try and go after their assets - if the person has a car or house or something worth money, the courts can legally take it, sell it, and give you the money - but as D Dr.Guru of Peru points out above, this is a massive legal effort and will cost you tons of time and money in legal fees. The video also suggests that this lady had moved into an expensive high rise with her new fiancé, so if that property isn't in her name then this guy was SOL.

Looks like she dun goofed. Cyperpolice were able to back trace it.

This is just the tip of the iceburg. The amount of simps and vulnerable men out there handing over their money to women like this must be in the millions.

Don't condone resorting to violence and murder but I'm surprised something like this hasn't happened sooner.

And yeah winning court is nothing. Actually getting the money back is another matter. I 'won' once in court and the judge ordered my ex to pay me back. She simply refused. Unless I was willing to pay debt collectors etc the court was powerless.
