The LAPD said a driver of a rented 2018 Tesla Model S, which was originally identified as a Tesla S-BLM, performed a dangerous stunt near the intersection of Baxter and Alvarado streets around 12:10 a.m. The video shows the Tesla headed toward an intersection at a high rate of speed when it suddenly catches air and then comes down hard on its front wheels.

The vehicle then crashed into several trash cans and two parked cars, the LAPD said.

The driver of the Tesla abandoned the car and fled the scene. According to neighbor Cliff Magreta’s video, they fled in a different Tesla.

That video is crazy as hell. I'm shocked he didn't roll it.

if the person renting the car knew they'd be doing this maybe they used a fake ID/alias? I cant imagine anyone intending to this giving their real name, no insurance company would cover this stunt, so they'd be on the hook for all the damages + car replacement + loss of use, that could be a 300k+ lawsuite.

Also all the footage shown here seems to intentionally leave out shots of who the driver was.

Something I am curious about, I figured with the lack of an engine, the Tesla would be an extremely balanced car, why did its front end drop so fast? You'd think it would have a more 50/50 front read balance, making the car more likely to hit middle/back when dealing with a downslope landing.

Even if evenly balanced, the front end would already have downward momentum because it reached the top of the hill first.

Hopefully they lock him up for a good long while. It doesn't look like he'd be able to pay restitution.

The Model S is dual motor one between front Wheels and motor between back wheels. The batteries in middle, very rare for a Tesla to roll over! In safety tests Tesla never rolled over.

Not sure what the balance is, but you don't necessarily want 50/50 balance in a daily driver. Some front bias helps tremendously with improving car control, particularly in bad weather. Steering happens at the front, so you want some extra weight up there.

My first reaction was that I wasn't surprised it was the same spot from the Dobrik Tesla jump video and then of course it ends up being his childhood friend that did it.
