My other cat in my avatar is getting old, and, gosh, looks like she is contemplating her life.. :(

Adopted cat, mother was tossed into a vet place to euthenize. Vets in Sweden do not do that for pregnant animals, so we got, Shakira.. :p

I have had many kitties in my life, but this one, seriously, I am going to have a hard time when he croaks ... He was dumped in a box, during christmas, in a winter day, that had -25 temps. His siblings froze to death, but his mom survived. But, she was so stressed when they found them in a frozen box, she was chewing on his tail and rejected him.

If you want a pet, don't go for the breeders, there are millions of pets, tossed out by their owners, go and adopt at a shelter pet.

Wether it is a dog or a kitty, they will form a special bond with you, that you will never forget.

You're lovely :)

Be sure to clean their poop or they'll mind control you.

I'm a dog person.

Joy to the world~

I adopted my kat three years ago. He was in a shelter inside a Petsmart. Before that Im pretty sure he spent his life as a pampered house cat haha. First kitty I ever owned because growing up my family did not have any dogs or cats, just a couple of guinea pigs. I wanted a cat after having fun playing with a friend's cats at her house. Three years after adopting my cat I can say that he is one of the best decisions I have ever made and I am very happy to have him and he is too.

Cats are pretty cool, if I ever have a pet again it will be a cat, but honestly pet free is the way to be, they just complicate your life, and Im lacking that emotional neediness that seems to drive so many people into weird domestic relationships with animals.

Our cat was adopted, apparently kids put her in a bin and someone recovered her.

She's quite the character and with her antics I reckon she put herself in the bin. (A screening process for a cat is weird).

Awesome fun though. When she isn't ripping up the carpet and wallpaper!

I’m sorry but I have to disagree here - it’s your choice and understand that there are disadvantages to adopted pets. Most of the time they were treated badly and are stressed. Many do not go well with other animals, kids or living in an apartment. Finally the breed that you want might simply not be available at the shelter.

We knew from the start we wanted an Angora Turc, because of how they look, how smart they are and because they are great with kids (we have two).
The breeder kept the kitty for four months which is the optimal time due to the need to be with the mother. Came fully vaccinated and from the first moment knew exactly where to do her business. Doesn’t scratch the furniture and adores the kids.

Getting a cat from the shelter is ok, just be aware that YMMV.
