Let me make this perfectly clear, I love the original Eureka Seven series. However, each following entry in the franchise, which it didn’t need to be one as the original series ended fairly satisfactory, was increasingly worse (to put it lightly), and missed the point of the original which showcased a world that could be dark, but ultimately through people working hard, an idealistic future is possible.

Eureka Seven: good night, sleep tight, young lovers:

Just makes a darker story for the sake of it, and feels pointless.

Eureka Seven AO:

Completely pisses on the themes of the original. Revealing that humans and Scub Corals can’t coexist peacefully is a big middle finger to the original, and insanely tone deaf given the original’s obvious metaphor representing the difficulties that different cultures can have connecting with one another but it is possible and worthwhile, but AO says the complete opposite which is just, ugh.

Also, Renton and Eureka’s first child dies stillborn, because fuck all the fans of the original apparently.

Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution trilogy:

Oh, god, why? Why? WHY?!!!

In a new universe, Renton dies. Eureka creates new universes, AKA all the prior continuities including the games, manga, etc…….and Dewey reveals they are all delusions of Eureka due to her mind not being able to handle losing Renton and thus having become delusional.

In other words, this film says the original series didn’t happen, and the real Renton died and Eureka went insane.

Yeah, I honestly consider this franchise to be the most disrespectful to the original entry above what any other franchise has done. Like, that final entry is just mindblowingly baffling. Did certain fans piss off the studio? What the fuck happened?!

If they want to make a new entry, sorry, it would have to get like a 8.5 or higher on MAL for me to give a chance. They can’t keep slapping me in the face harder every time I give them a chance and expect me to keep giving them another chance.

Love the original series and always will, but man, I just try not to think about any other entries unless I just want to feel briefly miserable.

I doubt it would be any less Toonami, but I still needed to note the connection.

It would actually only be connected by what is generally recommended thus what I would have heard about it in my early years as a fan (as I feel most anime fans generally find their personal favorites within their first five years or so).

I did not watch Toonami or Adult Swim in their most well known years aside from Dragonball/DBZ, due to me at the time not really knowing much about anime and just watching the most iconic ones in the US, so Dragonball, Pokémon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh were mainly it for me at the time.

I genuinely started looking into anime in 2005, due to the TV show X-Play, which reviewed video games, whose hosts got frequent backlash from Fullmetal Alchemist fans who couldn’t understand that the reviewers giving the FMA video games low scores did not mean they also disliked the 2003 anime. I had no idea what FMA was, so I watched a little online, and loved it. I did the same with Naruto. And so I went to my Best Buy, and started picking up DVDs: FMA, Naruto, Betterman (as I had randomly seen this one on Tech TV due to my high school friend suggesting it when we were hanging out late Saturday night, but we fell asleep before finishing it all, so now I could finally see all of it. Kudos to anyone who’s heard of Betterman and better yet, watched it as well), and Evangelion (boxset was on sale and looked cool).

I then started to look into more recommendations online and checking out more stuff through DVDs. Then of course legal streaming became more prominent and of course Blu-Rays, not to mention anime home video releases in the US becoming much cheaper compared to the 4/5 episode DVD volumes days (and good lord, the VHS days apparently required a small fortune to afford ONE 26-episode series).

I only watched Adult Swim when it returned in the 2010’s, and only watched Space Dandy, Blue Exorcist, and Casshern Sins on it.

So yeah, none of my 3x3 were actually watched by myself through Toonami or Adult Swim. Hell, I wasn’t even aware Adult Swim aired Baccano, as I got those DVDs (and upgraded to BR later) day one as they released in the US as it looked hype from the trailer.

Funny enough Eureka Seven is my Number 10 favorite anime of all time. I loved the story and cast. I really enjoyed the romance between the MC and Female love interest. There was two supporting characters who also had an interesting love story. The female had pink hair and that's all I remember. I still consider this Studio Bones best work to date, I loved the visuals and animation. Especially loved how colorful everything looked. The soundtrack and voice acting was great too. I never watched the other stuff but I'm not gonna to due to your complaints. I'll eventually do a rewatch of this anime though

Anemone was the pink haired girl, and Dominic was the guy. Yeah, they were great.

The only characters who irked me for a good while in the series were Holland, as 2/3 of the show he’s frustrating in how he sometimes treats Renton, but then character development kicks in and he gets better, and the three kids being raised by Eureka once again due to how they treat Renton, but again they eventually mature (and to be fair, they are actual kids) and consider Renton part of their family.

I would say this is my third favorite Bones’ series after the two Fullmetal Alchemist series. Space Dandy, Darker than Black Season 1, Soul Eater, Carole and Tuesday, and Ouran High School Host Club were all solid for me. I need to watch Star Driver sometime (saw a few episodes, liked it, apparently it’s heavily influenced by Revolutionary Girl Utena which is another one I need to watch sometime), and I definitely need to watch all of Mob Psycho.

Finished Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. Excellent. Loved it.

Playing AC: Shadows has made me want to watch some samurai and ninja-type stuff. I might rewatch Ninja Scroll, but first I'm going to watch Ninja Ryukenden (Ninja Gaiden) for the first time.

Finished S1 of Mob Psycho 100. I liked it a lot more than I expected. I was bored to tears by One Punch Man for being a one-note gag story with nothing else (other than money) going for it and was afraid Mob would be the same deal. I'm glad I was wrong. Mob's a fun story about a superpowered kid just trying to be normal. With an absolutely insane amount of budget behind it ofc. I didn't know Bones was capable of this tbh.

Props to everyone involved for getting comedic timing too. I enjoyed so many of the stylistic jumps and flourishes in this show, like that bit in one of the early episodes when the Telepathy Club is desperately searching for new members to stay open and their whole models become increasingly ragged between cuts as everyone on campus shoots them down. Somebody else has pointed out about this show before that Mob does crazy, off-the-wall gags in the way Studio Trigger wishes it could do, and I agree.

I watched this show last month(?) too. It's alright. A lot of people have pointed out before that it seems derivative of Monogatari and SNAFU. Like, the show's not even hiding how wholesale it rips off SNAFU. For instance, It features a short-haired, less-than-brilliant, genki girl with social anxiety issues both voiced by Nao Toyama. Fuck, the characters even wear their bags the exact same way. The male lead is described as a social outcast and dead-eyed like the lead of SNAFU, but Bunny protag is a well-to-do, good-looking dood-kun leagues ahead of the SNAFU lead who is actually an outcast and actually dead-eyed. I like the female lead of Bunny show though and the show's portrayl of her and dood-kun's relationship, although their jabs at each other didn't always land with me, like they were playing the same part in a comedy duo. I think their chemistry improved as the series went on.

PS: I heavily recommend SNAFU btw (full title: 'My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong, as I Expected). NotMyProblemAnymoreCunt also listed it as a favorite a few days ago. It's a show about a group of poorly socially ladjusted teenagers trying to grow up and the various steps forward and back they make. Not the most appealing description but SNAFU earns its respect for how committed it is to telling that story and how frustrating it can be to watch sometimes when characters make a wrong turn. The leads especially are all great and the show features a ton of A-list voice talent.

I added that one to my Crunchyroll list last week, and I think I'll give it a go soon. Going to watch either Hellsing or Afro Samurai next and then I'll start SNAFU.

surprised how much attention or top on list of the season Solo Leveling is getting (in that some mainstreamers people watching it that don't watch anime)
cause its like fine, but its like the most generic style of korean manwha setting ever.

I am in an anime mood since few weeks.

I watched Violet Evergarden and I love it ! I basically cried at each episode. The conclusion with the movie is great.

And I just finished Death Note. I started it like 15+ years ago liked it but stopped early I don't know why.
Overall it's great, for most time I wanted to watch the next one to see what happen.

I'll put a spoiler for those like me who are late to the party :
L and Light "fights" are really intense. It really got me glue to my screen each time. When L was killed, I honestly though about stopping the show because it was the main draw for me.
Not convince by Near and Mello. By the end, it Near was better but not as good as L.
To my surprise I was satisfied with the ending. It's a grey ending : Both Near and Light are winning and losing at the same time : Light succeeded to change the world and despite his method reduced criminality and erased wars (for a long is the question). Near stopped Light, avenged L and makes justice prevailed but Light actions still changed the world and his vision will remains.

Small nitpick on the last episode : Why they didn't cuff Light immediately they are sure he's Kira. They let him loose for the whole episode and he almost killed Near because of that.

So now I was looking for what looking next and just started Fate Apocrypha. I heard a lot about it and was in mood for a more classic anime with fights and so on...
Looks ok for now. Action looks promising but I have a bit some difficulty to enter the universe.

I saw Blade of the Immortal on prime and was tempted. Some feedback on this one ?

Action heavy anime with good production values usually tends to do well and reach a wider and more casual audience.
I mean Demon Slayer is the same, it's about as cookie cutter and formulaic as it gets for a combat shonen show. But it has a lot of action and good production values.

Solo Leveling so far has been fun, but it's basically One Punch man without the humor.

Me too. Honestly one of my favorite shows ever, some of the best dialogue and character chemistry I've seen. The drama and comedy were spot on too.

Season 2 starts in July, so that'll be fun even though I've already read the books now.

Just finished watching The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio and enjoyed it. Voice acting seems like an interesting career but they also did a great job of showing the difficult parts about it too. It was also interesting seeing the dynamic between the 2 main characters throughout the show.
