I've heard of some people seeing rainbow effects on DLP displays and projectors... if you've never had that problem then I can't think of why you'd not want DLP.

But for 1000, I'd reccomend this one:

plus there's no component input on the one you posted, so it'd just be extra hassle in having a component to vga adapter in the mix.

DLP's better for gaming though because you don't run the risk of burn-in.

For the best Image Quality, CRT is the best. Of course there are new technologies up and coming that will best CRT, for the time being CRT is the best.

The black levels are unparalleled. My friend owns two, and I can say that it is closest to film quality then any other.

oh yes, retails for 1000 or less.

I'd reccomend doing some more research on the site where that article's from.

I don't really find avsforums helpful for my price range shopping, just like a lot of those HDTV mags. But it's also a good resource.

You definetly have to buy one used. My friend bought one that had 5000 hours of use, and it cost him <$2000. He wont even need to replace the bulbs until 10,000 hours of use. Think about 5000 hours, thats 3 hours a day for 5 years, that plenty. And it still looks beautiful, the picture, after all the hours.
