It's a big nonsense at this point, people reaching to find something about the game.
Why stop with US and Japan? We will find some tragic date for every country in the world. There won't remain free days to release games, but at least we won't hurt anyone.

Not to mention this game is set long before the events of said attack. To call this a nothingburger would be an understatement.
Seriously, the people looking for any angle they can possibly find to go after this game are reaching peak clown mode.

But if you're going to release a game set in New York maybe avoid that date after a you've had problems with 'cultural insensitivity' and trying to sell merchandise with your protagonist swimming next to the USS Arizona (Edit: Changed the exaggeration to something from WW2). Yeah, I know it's not a perfect 1 to 1 comparison. Hyperbole sure is fun though!
I don't think the release date is a problem but I do think it's funny they keep tripping over themselves with this particular game.

Unless they had adverts of Yasuke posing in front of Japanese subways, that is the exact opposite of a comparison.
And this instance is just *THE* most artificially created attempt at Ubi tripping over themselves, hilariously bad even.
