Assassin's Creed Shadows Length Between 40 and 80 Hours

Shadows' main story should take most players around 30 to 40 hours to complete — but that playtime can be doubled to roughly 80 hours if you decide to see out every side quest and explore the open world in its entirety.

This means that Shadows should be a bit smaller than Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which is often criticised for its overall length.

Next, Benoit reveals that the developer is considering various updates including a New Game+ mode, dependent on player demand. New Game+ is particularly noteworthy because the aforementioned Valhalla never got it — which turned out to be a fairly controversial decision amongst fans who wanted to replay the viking adventure with all of their endgame gear intact.
  • Now was the right time for Japan because the team really wanted to do it and it was a dream for them.
  • Japan needed movement in the natural world and the technology is there now and they could find a good story.
  • Inspired by movies such as 13 Assassins, Sekigahara, Zatoichi and Kurosawa films but with their own AC spin
  • Devs see the online controversy and try to take on fair criticism but the team are really focused on delivering an outstanding game
  • Main story is 30-40 hours long- Above 80 hours or much more with side content
  • Looking into adding New Game+ and other modes based on player feedback
  • Vast, dynamic, breathing open world- New gameplay mechanics include light and shadow stealth, ability to go prone, grappling hook, observe mechanic, spy network system, newly expanded customisable hideout, more dynamic world (seasons/ weather systems/ night and day)
  • Minigames that give character knowledge points
  • Can recruit some characters from side quests
  • Dynamic cutting system. Can cut a lot of stuff. Cuts exactly where your sword strikes and can impact gameplay
  • Performance (60fps) and Quality (30fps) modes on PS5 and Xbox Series X- PS5 Pro Enhanced with both Performance and Quality- Xbox Series S specs will be revealed later- New Animus story that ties this game into future AC games/ projects.
  • Team want to show Japanese fans the effort they put into the game.

The problem with Valhalla wasn’t just the length.

It was the fact it was very repetitive and even that is an understatement. You would go to a new area of the (way too big for its own good) map, meet the characters there, do their quests and that was that. No story progress just tons of hours spent doing the same thing you’ll have to do again and again for different areas.

Don’t get me started on being forced into having to complete side content in order to progress the main story too. It became a huge chore in Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla.

There’s a reason Mirage was a much better game. The older style Ass Creed games are so much better, way more fun too.

Still debating on if I'll get this one, I absolutely hated Valhalla and I didn't like Mirage. I did enjoy Odyssey and Origins.

I'd be spending much closer to the 40 hours though, these games outstay their welcome very quickly for me.

I gave up on Origins maybe 1/3 of the way through for this reason and it's the last AC game I've touched.

Kinda felt like the game was telling me, "either buy some coins with real money to level up and skip this boring side crap or we are going to make you do it all you bitch."

I don't mind games guiding you towards doing side quests if the side quests are actually any good. That was not the case for Origins.

Who the fuck has time to play games this long, unless they want to play the same game on end for 6-7 months?

Give me a tight, shorter single player game over repetitive garbage.
Who has time for 80-hour games? LOL, who only plays like 5 hours a month? If it takes you 6-7 months to finish a game, that’s a you problem

Not everything needs to cater to people who play for 30 minutes before bedtime.

"New Animus story that ties this game into future AC games/ projects."

Are they still trying to continue the story outside of animus like on Present/future??

I mean I play all the AC and after AC 3 I have no ideia what's is going on or cannot be bother with the story outside of the animus 😂😂😂😂

Here's my review.

Absolutely unacceptable. I can already tell it’s a massive disappointment. First, the graphics? Haven’t seen them in-game yet, but I know they should be better. The story? I’m sure Ubisoft ruined it. And don’t even get me started on the gameplay, I can just feel in my soul that it’s clunky , repetitive & I'll climb a historically inaccurate pagoda only to reveal 500 icons on my map and immediately regret my purchase.

Also, why is the protagonist not exactly how I personally imagined them? Huge mistake. Uninstalling immediately (once I install it first).

0/10 Worst game I’ve never played!!

do not tempt fate do not contrain Wonder Woman's thighs do not do not
Luck of the draw got the game for free with the Intel partnership.
Was gonna buy the game anyway as I skipped Valhalla but im all in for this one.

40 hours straight run sound at the very edge of what i would tolerate these days.
So im in.
Not too worried about doing sidequests cuz I just dont care all that much about that, and wont be doing the DLC as its not part of the deal.

And like almost all bloated Ubisoft games it's going to run out of worthwhile new content like 15 hours into the game.
Then it's just the same boring gameplay loop against the same handful of level scaled enemies for another 25-45 hours.

Wait 6 months. Game will get patched up and you can get it for under $40.

Played and finished Odyssey, most of Valhalla main story, and like 15% of Mirage.

I'll probably skip this or wait for a deep sale. Way too many games on my plate right now.

(I still want Division 3 to happen but that's a dream)

40+ is fine IF the quests really are worth it. Valhalla murdered me with all the stupid running around shit. I'll wait for actual players to comment before jumping on this. I have other games to play than invest in a game with hours of filler.

Sounds like everything I want from a AC game

Meh Twitch GIF
let's go this game hopefully be good??

I just realized i have Assassins Creed Brotherhood in my Steam Library. Since i've never played any AC game i'm gonna install it and see what the fuss is all about.

if u dont plan playing ac 2 make sure to watch a recap of it otherwise you may not enjoy ac brotherhood

Is it really that important to watch a recap? But i will do it, thanks for the tip.
ac 2 and ac brotherhood can be considered a single game split into two lol
now that I've taken a look actually, the game has its own recap when you start a new game so I guess you're fine, no need to watch anything outside of the game
i hope you like it but controls may feel ancient as they weren't even smooth to play even back then lol
