Veilguard was legit woke trash, this isn't.Go woke = profit?
As the replies on this page show it could sell 100M copies in one day and there will still be goalpost moving to call it a failure.I figured it would be a hit. All this only mattered to a minority of chronically online folks and some who are culture warriors.
Yes, 2 millions players is not 2 million sales. Numbers would probably be lower but not that much, ubisoft plus is region locked, my country for example doesnt have it and its 20 bucks a month in some places. Game is still gonna sell but nothing compared to othersOk, so worse than Valhalla, and possibly still worse than Origins and/or Odyssey in $ terms once you consider all of those players would have been sales (I think there was no subscription option for those two?)
This also seems like an admission that it isn’t selling as well as Vahalla. But the post is so vague we don’t even know what metrics they’re comparing.
What monetization? And seeing the monetization in this game, I'll skip it even if I was interested at first. I have self respect.
AC Valhalla was the biggest launch in the franchise's history which was helped in big part by the increased spending on gaming during the height of the pandemic and also by the launch of the current gen consoles. I'm not sure how AC Shadows is supposed to beat that.Ok, so worse than Valhalla, and possibly still worse than Origins and/or Odyssey in $ terms once you consider all of those players would have been sales (I think there was no subscription option for those two?)
To be fair the game does need to actually sell a shit ton of copies to turn a profit due to Ubis current situation. I hate them for it as well cause I love the Farcry and Division series and they've screwed them up and wasted so much money on chasing trends that ultimately fail.As the replies on this page show it could sell 100M copies in one day and there will still be goalpost moving to call it a failure.
Once again, the writing room has saved the gameplay designers from criticism. If Yasuke was a Japanese fella this game would still have embarrassing combat more than a decade past its expiration.I figured it would be a hit. All this only mattered to a minority of chronically online folks and some who are culture warriors.
It may have sold better than Origins and/or Odyssey, but we cannot yet determine this from the information they have provided.
Eh not necessarily. Celebrating the number of “players” of a game is more tactful and community friendly than talking about how many units you sold. They are being very deliberate in their language - you have to learn to understand what they are actually saying in these announcements. If the sales were worth shouting about they would probably be doing that, instead of using 'players' while comparing a game where an unknown % of 'players' are sales to games where every player was a sale.

It's like UbiConnect and consoles don't exist lol. That's why people should use common sense and not treat Steam CCUs as the be-all and end-all metric for a game's success.
What Fear, Uncertainty or Doubt is being pushed here lmfao?Another FUD number, I see...
What monetization?
Not everyone is ignoring it. And the game is designed with that in mind so you need to grind for ressources, but thankfully you can buy them on the store! How nice of Ubisoft. And what about this powerful as fuck sword? It's only 3.99 you don't want it?There’s been a store in AC since UNITY. Everyone ignores it.

Regardless, the word of mouth is strong since it's a good game, and it will continue to sell well over this weekend, in the coming months, and during the holidays
How is it intrusive? You never see it.Not to mention it was not as intrusive as it is now.

I mean I get it you love the game but come on, no need to be like that.

And it's not because it's there since Unity that I'm ok with it. Not to mention it was not as intrusive as it is now.
Is anyone lobbying their employers to fire them? Seems a little different to me. One side just makes funny memes, mocks them and doesn't buy their product. The other sets cars on fire and harasses HR departments until people are fired and debanked. Canceled is far too broad a term in the context you're using it.I want this game to succeed just to mess with the fucking cancel culture we have right now.
They didn't lie. They avoided lying by specifically using 'number of players' for the comparison.Yes a publicly traded company is lying about their new product doing better than two previous launches.
But the question in which areas is it doing better... it may have surpassed previous entries with how quickly it gathered enough PLAYERS. But is it stronger in terms of actual sold copies?Yes a publicly traded company is lying about their new product doing better than two previous launches.
Considering the credits are literally 2+ hours long, just the entire dev team playing at the same time could get them halfway there. They didn't lie. They avoided lying by specifically using 'number of players' for the comparison.

And there’s the “UbiSoft buying games themselves to pad the numbers” excuse.Considering the credits are literally 2+ hours long, just the entire dev team playing at the same time could get them halfway there.
And there’s the “UbiSoft buying games themselves to pad 5e numbers” excuse.
In this context they don't have to even buy them. Surely Uplay+ accounts are a perk of employment. And there’s the “UbiSoft buying games themselves to pad the numbers” excuse.

I do in fact, stop assuming things. How is it intrusive? You never see it.
Nah, at best it's the same as Valhalla and Odyssey which were already terrible. But no, I know it's even worse this time. And I don't need to explain, just open the store and look at all the bullshit. It was more intrustive in previous AC games where you had to actually pay money to reduce the grinding. Thankfully this game doesn't have that. The rest of it is in the store, but it isn't like the game is advertising as you play. It isn't a big deal.
So what do you infer from them specifying Origins and Odyssey but not Valhalla, that they just didn't feel like mentioning it?
Youre not alone with that take. And seeing the monetization in this game, I'll skip it even if I was interested at first. I have self respect.
