edit: that said, amazing looking game.

So the performance gets worse over time and you need to flick shadows down and up to fix it?
But alex just said it might require restart when changing settings. So perhaps it's just changing to lower shadows and staying there... not fixing?

Anyway - I would've not guessed the game is so heavy on pc. 1080p dlss, low settings on 4060 and like 40fps?! that's honestly insane.
And bottoming at 50fps for 5090 at 4k with dlss (1440p internal) is also kinda insane.
No wonder quality mode is locked 30fps on pro now. Even that seems like an achievement seeing how demanding the game is on pc.

imo, ubisoft should've made it RTGI and hair strands ONLY. Waste of time developing graphics modes and settings without these features. These are integral and look amazing

Game has momets when GPU requirements skyrockets - this is related to places and time of day. It fixes itself with time or you can just toggle some settings up and down and performance returns to normal. This is super weird and I have noticed it too.

Changing character in menu will also fix this. Bug that needs to be addressed.

Assuming Balanced is the same as Quality just with wider DRS, that's pretty good on the console end, matching most settings on high and above presets.

Game looks ace, no doubt about that.

I don't know where you see low settings here...

No steam keys available on sites I trust at the moment so will wait..

Maybe I will take a month of ubi+, but running short on spare time at the moment

It's not low settings. It's optimized settings for low-end GPUs. It's actually similar to Performance Mode on console, but with RTGI diffuse and Hair Strand on your character. Those two settings alone cost around 20% of your performance. However, the 4060 also runs at 1080p DLSS Quality, which is an internal res of 720p whereas the console have a dynamic scaling going from ~800p to 1080p. Their performance profile seems comparable overall.

What disappoints is the 3070 that's just 8% faster than the 4060 in this game when it should be +20% faster.

Thats why i had some random places where my fps goes down to like 60? ...and thats with framegen. Im usually over 100. It felt weird, because those places were nothing special, i thought it must be some kind of bug

Happened a couple of times in my 35 hours or so. Not a big deal.

4060 is a trash card. I feel bad for PC gamers who can only afford these gpus that are barely as powerful as a ps5 in the 5th year of this gen. Last gen, the 1060 was well over 2x more powerful than the PS4 and you could run most games at 60 fps and better settings than the PS4. Nvidia really screwed over gamers this gen. And AMD has failed to offer a good alternative.

The AC Shadows devs told DF that the reason why they offered non-RT modes was for those people who couldnt run RT games. Well, they were clearly talking about RTX 4060 users who just cant play games at 30 fps like I do.

5090 should easily destroy this game. Dont worry about 1% lows. Im maxing out the game at 4k dlss quality on my 3080 and i stay north of 30 fps most of the time. I unlocked the framerate and i was getting 45 fps in some areas.

Yeah.

This is before the issue happens:

TOD changes and issue appears:

After changing shadows from ultra high to very high and then to ultra back again in menu:

I noticed it few times so far.

Yeah, turning off reflections is just plain dumb. Better to lower shadows or something else.

Hair, RTGI and reflections are what elevate this game. Otherwise it's just good looking but not next-gen.

And even then, in some instances it can still look flat and low quality.

As recomended by Black_Stride Black_Stride I just downloaded special k (great app btw use it for all pc games now) and launch the game from there to get a fixed 60 fps cutscenes. Settings set to very high with dlss Q gets me 60 fps @1440p no matter how busy it gets. 5070 ti machine.

Ah. Now I know why the game is running super well at times and then shits itself later. What a strange thing. I don't have a very strong machine (6700xt lmao) but I don't think it should struggle this much when nothing special is happening. When I close and restart the game it plays better, but I guess changing settings in-game is enough to fix it? Odd port.

Edit: Yeah, SpecialK is magic. It's much more stable now. I urge you guys to try it if you struggle with those fps drops!

There a reason your GPU is maxed out at 1080p, but only at 78% at 1440p DLSSQ?

Also, is it because you're moving or is the DLSSQ image always that much cleaner?
I'm taking screenshots frame by frame and sometimes GPU usage spikes. just a frame later,

if you're talking about the film grain, I'd guess the game uses film grain with TAA but not with DLSS. there's no in game setting for film grain

their discord is good and helpful too - https://discord.gg/PsRJuaVN

Which GPU should I buy to maintain 4K/60fps with DLSS4 (FSR4) performance? (RTGI enabled). 1080p output looks blurry because of the low resolution.

Probably a ~4070. High settings. DLSS Balanced+Frame Gen and averages closes to 100fps on a 4070S.

5080/5090
He said frame generation. You need a base ~40 or so at 4K DLSS performance. No need for a 5090. Even for 4K DLSS Performance Ultra, I don't think you need anything more than a 4080 if you toggle frame gen on.

Edit: Never mind, I read frame generation in the wrong post. I think a 4070S in that case. Same video without frame gen, but there is no RTGI.

61fps low and 68fps average with high settings DLSS Performance, but RTGI only in the hideout. Toggling RTGI on would drop the average to right around 60, but the lows below. So 4070 Ti-ish to always be above 60.

As already mentioned, most companies that have their own launcher don't produce Steam keys. Ubisoft, EA, Rockstar etc only have keys for their launchers. Which is why I don't very rarely buy any of their games. Maybe once their launchers die we can key third party sites selling keys again. It happened after the Bethesda launcher died, so fingers crossed.

Actually, the past 2 Humble Choice bundles have had keys for the EA app included with some Steam keys, so obviously that got skipped.

So, without watching a video from that scumbag, how m,uch do I need to play this on a PC at 4K with settings at Ultra and locked at 60 frames a second?

Are you genuinely interested in knowing or do you just feel like going, "Hur hur, PC is overpriced" like you were doing in the past?

Well PC is overpriced. Would you not admit that? But either way, I'd like to know what it takes to run this game on PC at 4K locked 60.

Yeah, so not actually interested in the discussion. Go research it yourself. Got no time to feed a troll.

I didn't ask you. And I don't need to justify myself to you. Don't come in here questioning my motives, smart ass. I'm curious if anyone other than you know of what it ould cost to build a PC that can run this game at 4k at a locked 60fps...

I don't even question them. You're a fucking troll.

Cool.

Anyone in here willing to answer my question? Kids want a gaming PC and I'm interested in building a PC that can play this at 4k60...

Your question was already answered - 4070 S will get you 4K 60 maxed with DLSS. All you need is 2x performance over PS5 Pro and 4070 S gives you that.

It actually won't. This isn't max settings. This is High settings. It can only do Ultra/60fps+ with frame generation.

Ok so high settings that looks pretty much the same.

Hmm looks like you might need 4080 to double ps5 pro. 4070 S is far behind 4080, I thought they were closer. So MCreary needs to get 4080 for his son.
