Atomic Heart - Enchantment Under the Sea

New weapons, also grappling hook, new enemies and bosses, and... kinda Bioshock setting, best game got even better :)

Going to probably wait for the 4th DLC and then buy the full edition.

Hopefully they release a complete edition once all the DLC is out.

There's a premium and gold editions, both have the season pass with access to all 4 DLCs.

The premium edition is $44 over PSN, which is a fine price for the complete edition, but i've already finished the game with Game Pass so it's hard for me to justify the price, when it hits $30 i'm going to buy it asap.

Comparing it to BioShock is being overly generous; the powers, puzzles, writing, enemy/world design, etc. are all a huge step back. Gunplay, graphics, and animations are better, but that's not saying much.

thanks for this. I really liked the base game a lot when it landed on game pass. I genuinely enjoyed it a lot. combat of this game can get quite creative and I had tons of fun with it

turns out the game left game pass. but it has a decent sale so I bought its premium version. I will be looking forward to playing the DLCs

Did they ever balance it? I got really annoyed at the seemingly almost always constant stream of enemies.

Not sure, haven't played from launch.

The thing is that it indeed was challenging at start to mid game, but then you become so strong that you kill anything that moves in ease.

edit: also i remembered that in the open areas you have a way of disabling the enemies respawn... iirc there's this tower you need to get to and disable some alarm etc, make the area much more suitable to explore, no more mustache robots fuckers.

Is there still content to come in the future and any word on a physical complete edition - like Dead Island 2 did with the "Ultimate Edition" ?

I liked the base game except the boss repetition in the ending. Politics apart, Soviet Union ideals mixed with retrofuturistic stuff made it very cool.
I thought they were doing Atomic Heart 2 and did not care for the DLC. Maybe i'll replay it someday.

This game is so underrated, imo

The atmosphere is just incredible. There's nothing like it. Gameplay is Bioshock but better (imo), the puzzles rooms are all fun, enemies are fun to fight, story is interesting (tho written poorly).

It's a very unique experience. I recommend it to everyone looking for something fresh.

And the graphics are gorgeous, imo

Do you enter the dlcs from a menu or you have to do stuff in game?

I finished the base game but i don't remember if the game just end or you are left in the open world to do sidestuff.

I think it's just the English translation that is bad. Anyone playing in English could do themselves a favor by not taking the dialog at face value, but rather something like audio subtitles. It's not exactly what the writer wanted to say. Much like Metro, but this one is even rougher.

The open world sections with endless respawning enemies really killed the games pacing and momentum, and squandered a lot of good will the game earned, but I still enjoyed it a lot.

I just wish the game was cheaper. It's an eastern european game, so give me those Metro: Exodus Gold Edition prices.

Played this last year after dropping it at launch. Incredible game once I got past the voice acting and the story was actually quite good too despite it. That's not to mention the graphics and the gameplay. Binged it for a few weeks and couldn't put it down.

Personal GOTY of last year (I think it was 23 though)

So boys, how does this play ?
Is it something like Bioshock ? Metro ? Is it open world or is it more sandbox levels like Metro Exodus ?
Is there exploration?
Is it atmospheric ?

Also what's the gameplay to cutscene /exploration ratio (if there's any) ?

Is there a Russian voice over option and if yes, is it good/better than the English one ?

Edit : watched a couple of trailers and...sorry but that Mick Gordon music doesn't jive well with the game's esthetics IMO, how it's not God awful like the trailers suggest

Bought the game day 1, loved it, have yet to play any of the DLC so might just need to pick it all up at some point and dive back in 👌

No, it is great. And self-repairing enemies can be stopped, there is a mechanics for it ingame. But it is not even too needed because there is no reason to spend much time in the open world, it is there just to connect the actual interior levels. Better solution than loading screen.

The DLC, and all of them so far, are accessible from menu, i also wanted to know so i watched some playing yesterday, so it's not integrated into main game. I wonder if the DLCs let you keep your gear, from little i saw.. the new DLC have new weapons so it seems to me you're locked to new gear, but not sure.. don't want to watch too much for fear of story spoilers.

Umm it would be stupid not to let me keep my progress if the dlc are a continue of the main story...

The infinite enemies is not really a problem if you play a bit stealthy.

I hated this thing when i heard about it pre-launch but when i played it wasn't much of a problem really.
Also when you get the telekinesis and a particular melee weapon you can handle groups with ease.

Also as i already mentioned in this thread.. in the open areas you can disable enemies respawn by turning off some tower in that area, will greatly help exploring.

Very solid game. I had no idea they even had DLC. I played it on GamePass and binged it. Other than hearing "Crispy Critters!" way too many times, this was a top 5 game of 2023 for me. Just went ahead and bought the gold edition on Steam.

do you have like unlimited ammo/resourrces from looting? or theres a limited resources but enemies are infinite?

There's a gold and ultimate editions, both have all DLCs and are on sale right now.

There are 4 DLCs, the 3rd one just released, and the 4th one on the way, will probably take a few months to release.

So did i, didn't think they will continue the main story in the DLCs, the two first DLCs looked nice but nothing too important, the 3rd one looks really good and i must play it.
