Avowed ad spotted at NYC Times Square

Microsoft owns Bethesda but Bethesda was publishing Indiana Jones themselves, I didn’t even see a Microsoft logo throughout the whole game, it’s a Bethesda and Lucasfilm collaboration.
Microsoft owns Xbox. Bethesda was bought out by Microsoft and was turned into an Xbox Game Studio. The Microsoft logo you see in the game is the Bethesda logo and the MachineGames logo (also part of Xbox Game Studios). Xbox is also the main division in the credits.

I don’t understand what you are saying

That avowed will flop?

Nope.

If you see my post history im on the side of Avowed and Shadows being succesful........but all the news about these games has threads that are largely negative......and im known of being overly passionate (leading to bans) about games.

Both these games im all in on.
I dont want to get banned and cuz I cant get rid of my black swan avatar im willing to put an avowed/shadows banner.

Edit: Werent banners a gold perk?
N NeoGAF explain yourself.

If we're talking about publishing and how they work internally, Bethesda is it's own thing, just like Activision is. They also have different marketing budgets and teams. Bethesda ran the Starfield marketing campaign, activision did it for COD etc Internally this is referred as "limited integration". They're separate entities under the Xbox/Microsoft gaming branch. Xbox Game Studios is a also a separate publishing branch that's formed by older studios that didn't came under a publisher: Obsidian, Playground, etc

That clearly never happened. ZeniMax was bought out by Xbox, and Zenimax reported to Xbox and MS. Xbox and MS in turn closed some Zenimax studios. Microsoft also fired 2000 Activision employees. MS/Xbox is in charge. There is no limited integration. That said, I have no doubt that Xbox gave those studios a marketing budget and left it up to them to market their games.

It really says it all when you need to take a screenshot of the rolling credits to find any traces of Microsoft in there…

Google says that it’s published by Bethesda Softworks. On every website I’ve found. Well it says Zenimax on PlayStation store. And you don’t see Xbox Games Studios when starting the game like on other Microsoft published games, there is a Lucasfilm logo, Bethesda logo, Machinegames logo and id too iirc.

So, to go back to the original post, it was Bethesda’s job to do advertising on Indy, as a publisher.

And for Avowed it’s Microsoft’s job since Obsidian isn’t the publisher but Xbox Games Studios, we’ll likely see a logo about that when starting the game. No controversy, it’s just how it is.

Ah on wasn’t sure what you meant

Why the bans just for being excited for a game?

Btw I’m not expecting huge sales straight out the gates in such a stacked month but I don’t play excel financial calculators either. I think it will review way above what peoples think. It’ll have long legs and be remembered for a long time in cRPG world.

We will agree to disagree.

It never happened? What I just posted is from a 2023 interview. So yes, it happened, and that's how it works and has been said multiple times by microsoft execs in interviews and on stand during the FTC trial.

That's why when you launch Pentiment/Forza/Halo you see Xbox Game Studios logo at the beginning. When you launch Starfield/Redfall/Indiana Jones you see Bethesda. Different publishers.

All the decisions are being made by MS/Xbox. Bethesda fall under the Xbox Game Studio umbrella.

But are separate entities/publishers under the Xbox/Microsoft Gaming branch.
And they are not making their own decisions. They may have a marketing budget given to them. But MS/Xbox are pulling the strings even if Bethesda Publishing exists (which remained that way to push the acquistion through).

She confirms 60 fps on series X

6 companions (!?), 2 optional. So 2 mystery companions we haven’t seen

Enemies don’t scale with your level. Fuck yes!

100 NPCs in town

Confirms post launch support (DLC?)

Can side with antagonist. This is such an Obsidian thing, New Vegas, Tyranny comes to mind.

Morrowind is one of her favourite game

The cover skeleton is not us, as some speculated, but the antagonist.

Big boss battles confirmed

You can betray the empire that sent you on the quest (Tyranny again)

NO ROMANCE!

Seems like murals are also with projectors for night by adding visual effects if we go by Berlin's night result?

Inadvertently or not, they've stumbled onto a really good key-art there with that skeleton imagery.

Also, "It's the hope that keeps us here" .. must be NYC :messenger_grinning_sweat:

If I was some tourist shmuck in Time's Square I would have no idea what Avowed was from that trailer, and it's not engaging enough that I would ever try to find out.

But you'd better believe I'm hitting up that M&M's Store.

It was only through this thread that I really realized that the game can be played with early access next week. I think it's a serious mistake that marketing is only now starting with murials in different cities.

On the other hand, you really have to say that it represents a huge improvement on the non-existent marketing campaign for HELLBLADE II.

I'll translate this journalist's post on his on-going playthrough of Avowed :

"This morning I have a thought for those that keep claiming that Avowed is "ugly" (or terrible both work in french) and "technically lagging behind"😏

Amazing lore video by Mortisimal. I'm getting hyped. More PoE into my veins!

I'm still annoyed POE2 doesn't have official controller support on PC.

This will flop.

And what's the definition of success for an Obsidian RPG?

KOTOR 2 sold 1.5M copies. Does it stop anyone from recommending it as one of the GOATs? Or Pillars of Eternity which barely surpassed 1M units for both entries.

"We want single player! Not GaaS!!" and you don't put the money where your mouth is 🤷‍♂️ absolute victory for some clown somewhere on the internet.
