Back 4 Blood 2 seems to be in development under the codename "Gobi 2"

This information comes from the resume of actor and stuntman Jesse Hutch, who worked on motion capture for the first game. In his resume, alongside other games like Dead by Daylight and Gears of War 4, a project titled “Gobi 2” can be found listed under Turtle Rock Studios, a project that seems to be Back 4 Blood 2.

What leads us to think this is the sequel to Back 4 Blood? The original Back 4 Blood’s codename was “Gobi,” as seen on the game’s SteamDB page, making it logical to assume that Gobi 2 refers to its sequel.

To cement this theory, it’s worth mentioning that in May last year, the domain “back4blood2.com” was registered and remains active.

Hopefully they've learnt from their mistakes.

L4D didn't need all those weapon drops not shitty progression shits to be fun as hell to play. Sometimes less is more.

Yeah I dunno - I played a couple hours of the first one then dropped it and never thought about it again?

The first one was so bland... And the weapons sounds and effects were so lame, I hope this one is a lot better.

They've already tried twice - Evolve then Back 4 Blood, and both times it was a failure, both games died immediately in the first months after release and here they go again... Guys, this is not your thing, you don't know how to make co-op online shooters, try another genre for a change...

That and evolve both showed how Valve fucking carried with L4D. B4B felt so fucking bad. Like I played for an hour and just went to L4D2 instead and wept at how much better it was in quite literally every way.

Also I never respected games journos from a multiplayer perspective. But do you guys remember that E3 where they all went WILD for evolve? Any sane person plays one game and realises how shit the core loop of the game is. A fundamentally boring and shit game lol.

I didn't mind the first game. Played it for about 15 hours or so then moved on, but wasn't anything I'd class as bad.

I did get it as a bundle of some sort (maybe the humble bundle Ukraine one) so maybe if I spent £40~ I'd be more critical if necessary. (think it was on gamepass too, but I don't use that)

The first could have been really good but the level locations needed to be more memorable and less recycled. Also It's much more fun with couple friends.

Valve carried the ideas and it was obvious these guys were a joke from Evolve.

No, the original concept for **Left 4 Dead** was not Valve's idea; it was conceived by **Turtle Rock Studios**. The developers at Turtle Rock wanted to create a cooperative multiplayer game inspired by survival horror and zombie movies, focusing on teamwork and fast-paced action against hordes of zombies.

Valve became involved when they saw the potential in Turtle Rock's project and acquired the studio in 2008, during the game's development. Valve's contributions significantly shaped the final product, including polishing the gameplay mechanics, refining the AI Director (which dynamically adjusts difficulty and pacing), and providing the extensive resources and support necessary for its release.

In summary, while the initial idea came from Turtle Rock Studios, Valve's involvement elevated the game's scope and success.

They helped with the game and helped polish the shit out of the game. The game itself would mostly exist as it is anyway tho.

I liked B4B. I played it after it been out for awhile but it was fun but required people to know how the game worked. Too many people scaring all the damn crows and you'd get swamped.

If they learned from their mistakes in the first game, then I'm all for it. I didn't think the game was awful by any means, it just felt pretty uninspired and passionless. Almost like a Great Value Left 4 Dead void of anything truly memorable. The weirdest thing about it is that L4D/L4D2 did a number of things better than it did, despite being several years old. Which, sure, they can't replicate TOO much because I'm sure they don't want it to be too similar, but still. It could've felt more "full" in a number of ways.

I still think the whole card thing was such an unnecessary mechanic that just didn't need to exist whatsoever. Maybe it was just me, but I really didn't feel like it brought anything exciting to the gameplay. To me it felt like if you took it out, it wouldn't be missed.

Hopefully they've learnt from their mistakes.

I think it’s less that they need to avoid mistakes, and more that they’re just bad developers/designers. There’s a good video showcasing some of the more subtle (as well as obvious) reasons why L4D shits all over B4B.

Left 4 dead and its sequel are very, very great, one of the few Valve games I have played and I love this franchise.

Not that shitty copy.

Wont be buying if it goes the same way as the first B4B. They need to look at what make L4D mega popular. All inclusive, all included, all just fun. The versus mode was epic and I spent way way way ....way too many hours on that mode alone with a group of friends.

When I attempted to play through Back 4 blood....it was like the trihard of the L4D genre lol.

I don't want to grind a bunch to unlock things. Just make a solid game that's fun to replay. This shit's not complicated.

Overhate in this thread. B2B Was a generic game. Sure. But it wasnt a super terrible game either.

Its a 70/100 game and if they can do a 80/100 game in this Genre i will try it as well.

I tried B4B when it was supposed to leave Plus, I liked it enough to buy it. It was hardly best ever, but still good fun. My main complaints are probably the difficulty spikes with some bosses and phases and the convoluted intransparent card system.

Wasn't it found out that the "makers of left 4 dead" that worked on this weren't a big part of Left 4 Dead? That they played small roles in the making for those games

I had fun with the first, so I'm in on a sequel. Hopefully an actual community will spring up on this one though.

I'd love for this to be true as the B4B has been massively improved over time. And yes, I'm one of those weirdos who put more hours into B4B than the L4D games. Sorry.
