Bezos now tries to buy himself into those NASA contracts

Blue Origin said it would cover up to 2 billion for the first two years of production of a moon lander, waiving payments for the first two years if NASA awards the company the project. The company is also offering to develop and launch a pathfinder mission at its own expense, as well as work with NASA on a fixed-price contract, which would free the space agency from any cost overages.

and also

In June, the Senate passed a tech and science bill that included an amendment that would allocate an extra $10 billion to the moon-lander program and require NASA to pick a second company in addition to SpaceX.
At the time, Musk's company pushed back against the amendment, saying the bill would give Bezos "a $10 billion sole-source hand-out."

Bezos' open letter took aim at NASA's relationship with SpaceX.
"In April (prior to your confirmation as NASA administrator), only one HLS bidder, SpaceX, was offered the opportunity to revise their price and funding profile, leading to their selection," Bezos wrote. "Blue Origin was not offered the same opportunity. That was a mistake, it was unusual, and it was a missed opportunity. But it is not too late to remedy. We stand ready to help NASA moderate its technical risks and solve its budgetary constraints and put the Artemis Program back on a more competitive, credible, and sustainable path."
A NASA spokesperson told Insider the agency is aware of Bezos' letter, but declines to comment to "maintain the integrity" of the reviewal process. A spokesperson from SpaceX did not respond to Insider's request for comment.
Blue Origin and SpaceX's fight over the $10 billion cash injection is the latest development in a long rivalry between the companies and their CEOs, two of the richest people on the planet.

Because Bezos hobby company cannot keep up with Space X, he has to use money and of course his "friends" in congress to buy himself into contracts. While not having achieved a single successful orbital launch until now, he sees himself as a contender for Space X and other companies with years of experience. Not because he has the technical advantage, but because of his ego. And if this is killing the Artemis program all together it is a small price for him, for not letting anyone else get something, what he think he deserves.

So first he stopped the whole program with his lawsuit and now he wants to buy himself in and also wants congress to give him 10 billion dollars just for existing.

I don’t understand - is the tender completed or not? Because if it is you cannot just inject yourself saying ‘whopsie daisy, we gonna give you a lower price’. I say it as someone that handles multiple government tenders on a daily basis.

Hmm but isn't Bezos company one that actually succeded sending him into space while Space X mostly crashes ?

Space X rarely crashes nowadays.

Still amazed they send billion dollar satellites and multiple humans out into space when odds of catastrophic failure are still quite significant.

The Space X Falcon 9 is intended for transport to orbit. It is very reliable and also reusable. That is why private companies and states use them so much. Reliability and price. That why Nasa or the Jaxa for example use the Falcon 9 to send their astronauts to the ISS.

The Starship prototype is a prototype. They use it as a test system. They are built for the possibility to blow up, that is why they don't have expensive landing legs like the Falcon 9 for example. The Falcon 9 has to be used again. The Starship prototypes would have not been used again anyways.

If you mix those things up, the media has really made a great job in somehow diminish what Space X is actually doing. They had over 100 succesful launches and this year alone they are plaing to send 40 Falcon 9 into space.

So you probably should not use a Falcon 9 to fly into space I guess. Btw. the Space Shuttle had 1.5% failure rate as well.
yeah and their[shuttle] one crash they found a bunch of doppelgangers with similar names living after the crash and death, adding conspiracy fuel to the idea they only send machines up there or there might be nothing sent at all.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.

Wtf? Bezos didn’t even reach space while Space X flys rockets that have setup already a network of satélites (Starlink) around the earth. Are you misinformed or an Amazon fan?

How could SpaceX not have sent anything when there is a network of Satellites and a product, Starlink, that people can use as the result of SpaceX launches?

You are more discreet when you shill unusable crypto tokens.

The rumor is they are similar to the drones in interstellar, high altitude sun powered perpetually flying drones. But that is just a crazy conspiracy rumor.

Evidence indicates earth stationary sphere, true celestial sphere does exists, despite Jewish bible being very clear on solid firmament dome.

neo tychonic theory

valid under relativity

The calculation of the trajectories in the Sun-Earth-Mars system will be performed in two different models, both in the framework of Newtonian mechanics. First model is well-known Copernican system, which assumes the Sun is at rest and all the planets orbit around it. Second one is less-known model developed by Tycho Brahe (1546-1601), according to which the Earth stands still, the Sun orbits around the Earth, and other planets orbit around the Sun. The term "Neo-tychonian system" refers to the assumption that orbits of distant masses around the Earth are synchronized with the Sun's orbit. It is the aim of this paper to show the kinematical and dynamical equivalence of these systems, under the assumption of Mach's principle.

so it's a i'll give you $2 billion if you give me $10 billion? that's probably one of the best deals the government has ever gotten.

So they did not react to his offer and now he sues NASA for giving the contract to Space X

After that flight, Blue Origin offered Nasa $2bn if it would change its mind on the lunar lander contract. It did not, and the Blue Origin lawsuit was filed in the US court of federal claims on Friday.

In a court filing, the company said it was challenging “Nasa’s unlawful and improper evaluation of proposals”.

Last month, the federal Government Accountability Office (GAO) sided with Nasa over its decision to pick a single lunar lander provider, rejecting Blue Origin’s protest.

Blue Origin’s lawsuit remains under seal. Nasa must file a response to the challenge by 12 October.

I hope Bezos is successful and gets his day at court. the judge asks whether he can demonstrate the key criteria to poop in a bag.

I wouldn’t have a problem with what Blue Origin is proposing and award an additional contract to them. Hell, we finally left Afghanistan and sunk trillions into that place.

:messenger_musical:Look at where you came from, look at you now :messenger_musical:

this is pure supervillian.

this suits purpose is to bleed their coffers and waste their time. thats it. if his company loses out, he makes sure you're going to feel some pain.
