Version: 1.0.12.16581

Update Time: December 10, 2024 16:00 (UTC+8) - EPIC

This patch will also be updated gradually on other platforms.

What to Know Before Patch Installation

  • Due to the platform's update mechanism, your computer will need to reserve a larger amount of free disk space for temporary storage of the update files.
  • If you have installed any mods in the game, installing the patch may cause compatibility issues. This could prevent you from launching the game or triggering error pop-ups during gameplay. We recommend uninstalling the installed mods and verifying the integrity of the game files before restarting the game
  • If you encounter unusually large update sizes during patch installation, or if the game gets stuck, crashes, or fails to start after installation, please refer to the Installation/Patch FAQ on our official website.
  • All new items introduced in this patch will not be required for any game achievements.

Major Updates

New Gameplay: Challenge

"It's tough to confront the old rivals anew, but the Great Sage will always prevail!"

  • After completing the game at least once, the Destined One can find "Challenge" at any Keeper's Shrine.
  • There are two types of challenge available: "Return of Rivals" and "Gauntlet of Legends".
  • "Return of Rivals"
    • The Destined One can challenge a former opponent to a duel, choosing from three levels of difficulty.
    • If any opponents remain undefeated in the main game, the corresponding rebattle will be unavailable.
  • "Gauntlet of Legends"
    • The Destined One can battle against multiple opponents in succession, using customized curses to tailor the difficulty.
    • This mode can be difficult, as some old opponents may surprise with new moves. Proceed with caution!
    • If any opponents remain undefeated in the main game, the related gauntlet will be unavailable.
    • Completing any gauntlet rewards players with new rare treasures.
      • Medicine: "Glimmering Scale Pellets" and its formula;
      • Drink and Soaks: "Sour Wine", "Frost-Enduring Chrysanth", and "Robust Antler";
      • Curios: "Stone Tiger Tally", "Ever-Burning Palace Lantern", and "Fragment of the Ocean-Settling Pillar";
      • Equipment: "Three Hill Crown";
      • Weapons: "Qing Mallet", "Fanged Cyan Staff", and "Leeching Centipede Staff".

New Game Feature: Journeyer's Chart

"Let the chart chart the journeyer's journey."

  • A remarkable one has captured these landscapes, organizing them into charts for guidance and marking.
  • A Journeyer's Chart can be unlocked when the Destined One first enters Black Wind Mountain and meets the Keeper.
  • Afterwards, for each new territory reached, a "Journeyer's Chart" can be purchased at the Keeper's Shrine.

New Equipment: Armor Set of Opulence

As the year comes to a close, we wish all Destined Ones an early Happy Chinese New Year! May you have joy and prosperity all year round.

  • Four special armor pieces have been crafted to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year.
  • After installation, all Destined Ones can claim these directly through "Trailblazer's Gift" at any Keeper's Shrine.

New Music Library Functions

  • "Black Myth: Wukong Soundtrack Selection" has been added as a new soundtrack application (some tracks are not available for export due to copyright restrictions).
Please note: Due to configuration issues on EPIC, purchasers of "Black Myth: Wukong Deluxe Edition Upgrade" may experience delays in receiving the soundtrack selection. Your patience is much appreciated.

This is huge quality of life update.

Although much slower than I would love them to arrive. I guess the dev took a good break after the launch. Now, add HDR and PS5 Pro support, chop chop.

Man, tried to continue this (I'm at the snow level) the other day since getting my Pro and...how the FUCK did we play this to begin with ? It looks absolutely horrible due to that FSR, terrible, TERRIBLE noisy and over sharpened image quality, ghosting and the input lag (I presume it uses frame generation in performance mode) is very noticeable.

It may sound dramatic but I just can't go back unless they fix this /release a (good) Pro patch, God knows it absolutely needs it, it really is one of the worst looking games on PS5 due to the abhorrent IQ, even AW2, with all its image quality problems looks miles better than this, then again, i still haven't played Jedi survivor so...

Put it on the back burner for now but I'm afraid that when and if they fix it I'll have lost all my interest by then

I agree, my man, the game on PS5 needs much more tinker, especially they are also releasing the PS5 physical edition soon. Hope they deliver a solid PS5 enhancement patch.

Game science doing things the right way.
A friend of mine told me that on chinese forums they are talking about the next games for them.
It still a retelling of chinese myths and will follow some taoist dude that can control spirits (i think a thousand of them) and the other will be about some zughe liang type character, a tactician who helps some guy becoming a king. Smells like rts material if you ask me (or dynasty warrior if they want to keep making action type games).

Stupid question but did you try performance mode ? It softens the edge of things so the oversharpening isn't there so much, plus the input lag is non existent.
Keep trying, that game really deserves it. Once it clics, you cannot stop.

Hey Toots, yes, I'm playing on performance, that's the mode I'm seeing the aforementioned problems, haven't tried quality mode nor the balanced one since I'm on OLED and I can't do sub 60fps anymore due to the OLED judder.

And yes, the game IS good brother, it's just that the IQ is so bad that - especially after getting the Pro - and playing RE4Re, Lies of P and Stellar blade the contrast in IQ is so big that I just can't get over it.

Really hope that they'll release a Pro patch down the line (Hope it's sooner rather than later).

Cheers

I understand, if you already play performance mode it's no use to try the other two... Lets hope for the pro patch soon then !!

They really went crazy with the oversharpened look. Thankfully, you can edit it on PC. I made mine much less aggressive and it’s now arguably the best looking game at the moment. Right up there with Alan Wake 2.

Maybe try Balance Mode if the input lag is too awful. There’s no frame gen there.

Interesting to see they use Chinese New Year explicitly instead of Lunar New Year.

I'm Singaporean Chinese. No one calls it Lunar New Year. It has always been Chinese New Year.

Before teaching piano, I held a corporate job and had clients from China. Not once have we called the holiday Lunar New Year.

I have friends from Taiwan and Hong Kong. They call it Chinese New Year as well.

Exactly.
But come to the US and parts of UK and Europe and it's now an issue using "Chinese" over "Lunar" ignoring its cultural and historical origin. But that's a different topic.

In Vietnam, nobody calls it Chinese New Year. Always Lunar New Year.
But both ways are fine, who cares?

I don't want to turn this into a race thread but Vietnamese aren't Chinese.

HongKongers/Taiwanese/Singaporean Chinese /Malaysian Chinese and Mainland Chinese = Chinese. Therefore we call it Chinese New Year.
People in these countries mostly speak Mandarin.

People who speak Mandarin in Vietnam are extremely rare.

I hope you're not a white guy trying to argue with an actual Chinese who lives amongst family, relatives, friends and colleagues who are Chinese about our custom.

This is the last time I'll speak about this as I don't want to derail the thread.

I had an old uncle that said Vietnamese people were "jungle chinese".
That was an extremely racist way of thinking and saying things.

Maybe Sloth isn't a white guy whitesplaining*, but my long lost uncle, who's dead i think but we aren't even sure because no one wants to talk to him... (Just kidding of course i don't think anyone is racist on the thread)

*i was extremely proud of my shitty neologism but a quick google search shows other morons already thought of it and use it seriously... Life's lame sometimes.

I don't said anything about being Chinese or not though. Just pointing out that there're country call it Lunar New Year like my country. Nothing more. Maybe I read your post wrong, if that's the case I'm sorry.
And I'm Vietnamese btw.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Map is a big update - I spent most of my time in the game just wandering around trying to figure out where to go. But, I also felt like that was kind of the point so 🤷‍♂️

Don't Hong Kongers speak Cantonese? I spent some time there and not once did I ever hear Mandarin.

No pro patch no play

I'm holding out on a pro patch as well. It looks like there's vaseline smeared all over the screen.

I'm towards the end of the snowy area. If I have to wait too long for the pro patch, I'll probably just delete the game as there's too many good games competing for my time.

I beat the first chapter and I like it a bit too much to continue in this state. Hope we're getting on for christmas

It's just the English translation.

Chinese people use Chinese Calendar and Lunar Calendar interchangeably.

The Chinese characters would be "农历“ or "阴历”, we use those all the time.

I needed this so badly during my playthru. Would have saved several hours of frustration.

The good news is that now the game is actually GotY worthy and should probably win.
