Story centered around the lost sword wielded by The Penitent One in the first game.

Publisher Team17 and developer The Game Kitchen have announced Blasphemous II paid downloadable content “Mea Culpa,” which will launch alongside the free update “True Torment” on October 31 for $11.99 / £11.99 / €11.99 with a 20 percent launch discount for the first two weeks of release.

About the Paid Expansion “Mea Culpa”

“Mea Culpa” is a premium expansion for Blasphemous II. The expansion’s story centers around Mea Culpa, the lost sword wielded by The Penitent One in the first game.
Featuring a new ending, new bosses, new zones, new abilities, new enemies, new quests and a new… New Game Plus, experience Cvstodia like never before in this massive expansion to Blasphemous II and become the wielder of one of the most powerful artefacts—The Mea Culpa.
The downloadable content includes the following:
  • Two New Zones - Two massive new zones for you to endure their harsh winds and ascend their towering heights.
  • Two New Bosses - Fight some of the greatest challenges and stare defeat in the face in Mea Culpa.
  • Four New Quests – Piece together your sword and experience the power of Mea Culpa across. Plus meet new characters along the way.
  • New NPCs - Four New compatriots for your journey, will they accept their fate or will you change them forever?
  • New Alternative Ending – An alternate ending for The Penitent One . Face some of Blasphemous II‘s fiercest challenges.
  • A new (yet familiar) weapon and ability.
  • New prayers.
  • New rosary beads.
  • New Argent board figures.
  • New achievements.
About the Free Update “True Torment”

“Mea Culpa” launches alongside the free “True Torment” update. This update includes not just the highly requested New Game Plus mode but a host of other features too including the expansion of existing zones and new zone connections, new abilities, new enemies, new prayers, quality-of-life features, accessibility features and much more.

The update includes the following:
  • Expanded Zones - Choir of Thorns, Sunken Cathedral and Basilica of Ancient Faces have all been reforged with new challenges to explore and conquer.
  • New Connecting Zones -Quicker traversal between zones already explored so you can dash your way across the world faster than Sarmiento and Centella.
  • A New Challenge – The Labyrinth of Tides presents a new challenge for those ready to face it.
  • New Game Plus - Totally adjustable difficulty options to upgrade your save game from stronger enemies to deadlier spikes and lethal falls.
  • New Enemies – Cvstodia’s denizens rise to face you, are you up to their challenge?
  • A host of upgrades for the Penitent One, Quality of Life improvements and Achievements.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Great news! Thing is, this make me wonder if it's fine to play the game now or wait until all the DLC is out. :pie_thinking:

One place where Blasphemous 2 fell short was how big of an addition NG+ was in the first game and I expect no less from "True Torment". But as of now it's still one of the best metroidvanias ever made so you can totally start already and do a second run after the update, you'll want it for the alt ending anyway and all the NG goodies and secrets that might include additional bosses or changes to existing ones.

I'm glad I decided to wait on this. Blasphemous 1 is a pretty cool game, and I think I'd prefer the full experience on 2 the first time through.

Anyway, I'm ready to pay for my sins (again).

Blasphemous 2 didn't have many distinct gory finishers like the first game, looks like they're adding that stuff in

Can I play Blasphemous 2 without playing the first one? Every time I try, I get stuck deciding which one to start on and then get too much choice and never pick.

I haven't even finished the main gaine yet, so I won't be buying this until I do. I wish they'd offered a choice if you want to update the game or not, cuz I want to finish the current version and then start a new playthrough with all the new free and paid DLC. I just don't have the time to play two games and SH2R is a top priority.

Ending C done! Awesome DLC featuring what could be my fav bossfight in the series. There are some technical problems with it including one side quest progression blocker, wait for updates if you can
