I beat Ludwig on my second try but I have god gifted skills
I've given up, over 100 attempts at Ludwig now.
I have a small child at home and just don't have the time.
Don't understand why they made the first DLC boss so difficult, immeasurably harder than anything in the main game.
Orphan of Kos is easily the worst boss in the souls series. I could only beat him by summoning two other players, I tried helping other people beat him after but everyone kept dieing.
His phase 1 was good but as soon as his health drops half way it's a whole new game. But I seem to struggle against the human bosses more than the giant ones, martyr logarius and father g where the only others ones I had trouble with but Kos was insane.Really? I think he's one of the best bosses, both thematically and how the fight plays out in phase1 and 2. He also has one of the best arenas when you take him to the sea, which people should do as the lightning move in phase 2 emanates from the corpse of kos. He has very few lingering hitboxes, good but fast telegraphs and can be both parried and backstabbed. I guess it's just different priorities in what people look for in boss fights. I don't want them to be difficult for difficulty sake but for them to be fair, which I believe orphan is.
However, I acknowledge what can be fair to one person can be incredibly unfair to another depending on build, playstyle and the amount experience a person has with souls games. Glad that these games have the summoning system and that you beat him regardless
I thought Laurence was easy, ludwigs holy blade destroys him.i never had too many problems with ludwig & orphan and have beaten them both solo at one stage or another
laurence tho, hardest souls boss for me without doubt.
Defiled Amygdala is the hardest boss if you don't cheese
I started my first Arcane run last week and I'm just up to Yahagul. I really recommend getting the Firesprayer from Gilbert (or buying it). I've put all my stat points into Arcane so far and am at 55. The firesprayer ripped through Amelia (no surprise there, she goes down in 10-15 seconds normally any way). But I also used it on Rom and the Firesprayer is +8 it was a total joke. I used an oil urn and then a couple of bone marrow ash and she didn't even get chance to teleport once! The Executioner's Gloves took care of Amygdala and SoY in very short time too. A bit boring to stay at distance and just pew-pew, but not a playstyle I've ever really done before in BB.I did it! I went arcane! I've finally got the Tonitrus and it is doing awesome so far (at like 32 arc, 12 str) I have pretty much ignored Vit and End so far, so I'm going to start pumping them finally.
Any suggestions on other weapons to use?

Pretty hype for potential new Bloodborne sweetness soon, prob won't get it so I don't want to get my hopes up too much tho.
I would LOVE for them to announce Bloodborne 2 but I don't think it's happening, sadly.
I find myself in the Nightmare of Mensis around level 60 to 65, and I am getting destroyed pretty badly. Is this right? I feel like I skipped some areas. I've seen talk of Upper Cathedral Ward, Cainhurst (?), and Nightmare Frontier, but apparently I've missed those areas. Is it worth going back, or should I push forward into the Nightmare?

I was pure melee and was frankly overmatched in a non-cheese toe to to fight.
Jumping is how you cheese him actually. If you stand still the moment he jumps, he will 100% always land with his head next to you, so just charge your weapon once he jumps and hit him when he comes down. I tried to fight him legitimately and got embarrassed. 75% of his attack straight up 1 shot me with 50 points in health (or whatever the attribute was called).
Na you should be fine. I just ran through there with my current character at that level.
Are the enemies giving you trouble or enemies combined with Frenzy?
How do you guys adjust your brightness setting for this game? Despite playing through it something like ten times I've never been able to set it in a way that I was happy with. If I follow the in-game brightness instructions and adjust my tv settings until the beast is invisible then the I get all sorts of black crush. Most other games I play on PS4 are fine at default or near default settings, but Bloodborne has such an abnormal brightness slider.
Oh I didn't mean that I literally ran through it, just that I do finished it at that level.Charging through an area runs counter to how I approach these games, but I am finding that Bloodborne has a way of subverting expectations including my previous Souls play-style.
.
I've dealt with the frenzy by stacking frenzy resistant runes and using the Hunter outfit (it has the highest frenzy resistance of all the gear I have). I'm ashamed to admit it, but it's those damn worms that do me in every time.
I know how to get to Upper Cathedral Ward, but I am surprised I missed Cainhurst Castle and Nightmare Frontier. I don't even know how to get to those places.

The worms are some of the most annoying things in the game. An unnecessary cheap enemy, if I have to be honest. If I recall correctly, you can prevent them spawning from the white wolves is by either killing with a visceral or with fire.
Cainhurst is one of the most obtuse areas in the game to access. I'm sure someone can explain to you why the item you need to access it appears where it does and make it all seem ok but I honestly think it was a bit too hidden.
You're going to kick yourself once you realize where Nightmare Frontier is. Hint: Which door of the Lecture Hall did you exit from to get to Nightmare of Mensis?
The worms are annoying - I don't think I've ever tried killing them with bullets or molotovs though - maybe there's an easier way than pure melee? I do recommend not locking on for melee though, and pointing the camera down - an old trick for small/weird enemy hitboxes from a long time rapier user in Souls!
Oh really? I know one can finish a Souldborne game at pretty much any level, but for some reason, I thought 60 to 70 was too low for the final area of the game.
Oh I bet it was the second floor door? Or was it the first? Regardless, I didn't realize that "exit to the outside" (as the prompt states) went to two different places.
I did find my way to Cainhurst and it is certainly weird how you get there. I have to admit, it is one of my favorite level though. The way it twists and turns on itself reminds me a lot of Dark Souls, and I absolutely loved that game. I'm on Logarius now. The guy is a real pain.
Thanks for the tip. Hard to break from the habit of locking on, but I will try this.
60-70 is about where you should be I'd say considering the DLC is reccomended to be 80-90 and considered the last bit of content to do. On the bright side, you can use the pigs and shadows of yarnham to level up super quickly if you want to grind a bit.
personal opinion, but I'd leave DLC for 110-130
first-timers with low levels is probably the reason why we continue seeing people giving up on the DLC bosses.

That was going to be my next question. At what point during my first play through is it appropriate to start the DLC? I just wrapped up Cainhurst with the aide of the Beckoning Bell. I have three options at this point, 1) Nightmare of Mensis, 2) The Old Hunters DLC, or 3) Nightmare Frontier and Upper Cathedral Ward.
Thanks for all the advice with Ludwig guys, but still no luck.
Over 100 attempts now, and within those I've only gotten to the second phase maybe 15 times.
Used all my vials (had 800+ before my first attempt), and it's actually annoying me now. The fun of the challenge to beat him as gone.
I'm going to trade the game in and just let it go, really enjoyed the main game but the DLC left a sour taste.
Opus I know this is against souls mantra and everything but summoning in Valtir for that fight makes it considerably easier. Leave beating him solo for another run through (although gl on NG+ lol...)

You need to equip the rune he gives you to summon him iirc. There are two summons near Ludwig though - one where there's an armour set to loot where one of the big guys walks from, and the other down the steps next to the lamp where the crystal lizard is.I can't summon him for some reason, do I need PS+ or something?
I know that going right after that windmill you'll encounter an elevator that takes you to a lamp. Problem is I fell down from the elevator and now I can't get It down.
That means that I lost that shortcut forever? Hope Not, please help.
There should be a lever somewhere in the area to call it down. There always is.
Edit: Just checked to make sure. Yeah, you're fine. You have to go to the shortcut again, but there is a lever right at the entrance. Use it and it'll come back.
