[Brazilian news] Based girl doesn't give her place in the window plane

CNN translated by me said:
The video that went viral on Wednesday (4) sparked controversy on social media. The image shows a woman with headphones in the plane window seat. She was recorded and exposed by a mother, after she refused to change places with a child.

In the footage, passenger Jeniffer Castro has her eyes closed, escorted close to the cabin window, while a woman records and criticizes her for not giving up her seat for her son. “I even asked if she had a syndrome, something, because if a person has a problem, a disability, we understand. But the person has nothing and doesn’t want to change anything!”, accused the woman.

When she realized she was being recorded, the passenger calmly took off her headphones and questioned the exposure. The woman continues to curse. “I'm recording you and your face, because you don't have empathy for people. This is disgusting, in the 21st century a person has no empathy with a child. If it were with an adult, that would be fine, now with a child it’s too much,” she said.

After the disagreement, the mother posted the video on social media, hoping for support. However, most people criticized the attitude.

On social media, Jennifer gained followers and support by not giving up, nor did she lose her temper throughout the discussion.

The girl was just chilling out hearing her music, then an spoiled brat with a spoiled kid wanted her place because... She was a bitch. Jeniffer didn't give much of a fuck and people liked. Before this video she was just another girl, now she is famous

People are getting tired of those spoiled people, and this is proof that doesn't need much to win the case

Good on her. You typically pay extra to get a preferred seat, but even if she didn't: fuck you and your kid. Nobody owes you anything.

Also that screeching kid in the video is nightmare fuel. I've been on 15-hour flights with little kids that literally wouldn't stop screaming, there are moments where you contemplate opening the door and throwing the kid out.

Yeah sorry but you had plenty of opportunity to get your seats together, someone might be willing to change seats but it is their perogative.
I was once on a flight where a group of maybe 20 hassidic news rearranged the entire plane so they could sit together, but they wrangled everything so that everyone got a better or equivilant seat.

I agree with the sentiment that she handled it well and that she shouldn't be expected to move for some shitty lady and her kid, but this whole article is "look! Nothing happened!"
Because recent days people are getting cancelled and shit for spoiled screaming ass people, so when someone shows some guts to fight for it, it's new

I know that this is basically a flash in the pan, but still

This reminds me of that insane woman who flipped out because someone wouldn't let her kid play their Switch on the bus or subway or something.

Like it completely warped her worldview they would keep holding the Switch while their kid can't play it. I'm gonna hand my gaming hardware to a complete stranger and if I don't you go mental. Wild stuff

I once agreed to swap seats with a dude during boarding, because I didn’t really care. Swapped aisle for window.
A pretty girl arrived and she had the middle seat. Dude immediately started chatting with her like he’d known her all his life.

Ten minutes later a hostess comes to me and asks me to follow her to the front of the plane. There’s a couple strong dudes in vests there, and a very suspicious bag on the floor between them. The hostess asks me if that’s my luggage. I say no. She asks me what number is my seat. Then it dawns on me, and I explain that I and the dude swapped seats and he’s summoned to explain about the bag instead.

Really nothing major happened. Apparently the guy wasn’t a terrorist or something like that. But that taught me that if you’ve been assigned a seat, you don’t swap it with a complete stranger before takeoff. And possibly not even later.

This is obviously a different situation, but I’d have done the same. First, I like the window seat. Second, if you want your spoiled brat to have window, reserve that in advance. Otherwise, fuck off.

There's no excuse anymore where people should feel guilty about switching seats. Plus kids should be put in mildly awkward situations by their parents so theyre not wusses who crumble when things don't go their way later in life

Fuck that, the kid can grow up, make their own money and pay the premium to choose a window seat if they want.

Edit - I think that might have seem unnecessarily harsh, but parents wanting to make their children's lives a non stop dream come true should realise that even if they really, really want to make the world revolve around their kid, it doesn't.

Could've just paid for the seat but oh no probably thought they could save money and play the kid card.

If my pass/ticket says a specific seat then it's mine. Even if I'm not given a specific seat then wherever I sit is my seat. I don't need to move. If a parent came up to me with their kid and politely asked to swap or if I knew there were other seats then I'd not mind moving. And if a staff member asked me to move then I'd move.

You come up to me talking shit and recording me then I'm not moving.

Good on that girl. Fuck these entitled cunts using their kids.

I pay extra to ensure what seat I have and it’s not my job to reunite families. This trend of people buying separate seats then browbeating people to switch seats needs to end. The people who do this should be tarred and feathered.

I have multiple kids. First of all: even if you need to pay extra to pick your seat the airlines will try very hard to seat families together even if you didn't pick the seat. They know how much of an organisational nightmare this situation can be. In fact I almost never pay for seat selection and I were never seated without the rest of my family.
This looks very much like a manufactured controversy trying to make the thing go viral and possibly cash in on some appearances - good the stupid Karen got blasted.

1st - Why did the mother only spoke with the only woman at a window? Kinda bizzare. There's more people at the window.
2nd - If you want your kid at the window, pay for that seating. You're not entitled to steal my seat just because you chose to have a kid.
Not to mention there was another lady in the middle seat next to her. Was she supposed to move as well? This whole thing is silly llama drama.

Just to clarify.

If wasn't the mother of the screaming children that was recording and talking in the video. It's was a random ass third passenger that felt for the mother.

The woman boarded the plane, there was a kid at her seat, she asked the mother to take the kid out of there, the mother took it, the kid throws a tantrum and then random Karen draws its phone and begun to record and pep talk.

The Karen will probably be sued into oblivion now.

I’m a bit lost here, the woman just didn’t want to switch?

I don’t fly a lot so I’m probably not really understanding this but I would definitely change my seat so a kid could sit with their parent, even if they could have booked a seat. I wouldn’t downgrade or something but I’d definitely move.

Why would I want to sit by a screaming kid if I could avoid it?

I’m clearly missing lots here though.

But we see more and more people entitled to stuff like this. No one is more than i am. And using your kids as a shield is such a cheap shot. She should've paid for her seat and the kid, period. She knew where both seats were before walking into that plane. She knew what she was doing.

*pays extra for window*

*keeps window closed entire flight*

It’s my biggest pet peeve on flights. Just weird as hell to me.

We as a society take shit for granted. You’re in a vehicle flying 500mph through the clouds, 33 thousand feet in the air - open the fucking window lol

You don't owe the person your plane seat ever. It is fine to ask, fine to say no, it is terrible the way the requester responded.

People have no self awareness anymore as to when they should be embarrassed.

What airline charges extra for a window? I've only ever seen more for specific "more legroom" rows or first/business class. Though some aircraft appear to have 3-4 sections now, with seats getting smaller and smaller as you go back, to the point where the back of the plane, where I can afford to sit, is built for a toddler.

Are we ever going to be done with this "film someone who disagrees with me or causes me a mild inconvenience" thing? To me it always says more about the person filming, namely, that they're mentally ill, than the person they're filming, even if I think the person being filmed is wrong.

How long are your flights and how often do you travel?

I travel a lot for work. Looking out the window for 11 hours got old quite a while ago.

Twice I went over to my neighbor across the street to politely ask her to control her crazy dogs who bark all the time like banshees when they're outside.

Both times as soon as she saw me cross the street she started filming me.
As I asked her questions she never spoke one single word.
Just kept hiding behind her phone filming.

It was frustrating & dehumanizing.
I finally said "Keep your movies as a reminder that you're a shitty dog owner".

You gotta film her back, these days she can have you say anything hateful shit she wants and the mobs will believe it. You need your own record.

Airlines cause this bs with their greedy bs. I am one to never blame the provider but airlines are getting out of hand and there is no other choices. No assigned seating is dumb as fuck but it's a trend because they get more people on a plane. Then they charge extra to get on the plane first.

Definitely, "I meant to cover her face with a sticker, but I'm a social media novice and didn't realise her face was clearly visible in the video until 8 hours later." Seems like it's blown up on her now that it looks like her mother's getting sued.

Tbh, I don't know what the arguments for an overhaul of privacy laws might be, but it seems pretty clear that people's lives can be made miserable by someone posting a clip of them having had a bad day, one drink too many, or making an error of judgement that pre social media would require some time to cool off and an apology, not endless meme-ing, millions weighing in with their opinion or showering the subject with abuse.

This lady already had a window seat for her kid.

This story is just a Mom having that typical Mom syndrome where the entire world exists for her and her kids.

Would be difficult laws to write. You are in public, your behavior not being able to be captured isn't some right I don't think anywhere in the world. If it's a business they can ask you to not record things, but that's up to them, and they can certainly still record you.

Yeah I don't know if you can or should prevent people from recording and sharing the recordings, but either way it seems that society doesn't really seem equipped to deal with the fallout and the power of these actions when it's not being used positively.

I think most people manage to never have a blowup in public their entire lives lol

But yeah social media is certainly wildly powerful. But there are also people getting recorded daily by idiots who never go viral because they weren't really doing anything.

Did you remember to ask her in both French and English, mon ami?

Like uhhh... Les chiens ne sont pas beaucoup chanteuses. (Got a B- in high school French, no big deal)
