Release day is 1/23. From the creator of Dusk. A VHS laced PCP trip to Meleeville, Population: redrum. Demo is available. It's not going to be the same length and scope as Dusk, but the vibes are heavy and the price will likely be single digits. Crispy melee combat reminiscent of Condemned Criminal Origins.

Blurbs:

A troubled loner with a hunger for cinematic gore finds himself on the other side of the camera when rumors of authentic snuff videotapes lead him to an abandoned cabin near Butcher's Creek, Pennsylvania. What starts as illicit urban exploration becomes a fight for survival when he's captured by a gang of sadistic killers. Now his only option is to pick up a box cutter, a hammer, a pickaxe, or whatever else is at hand, and unleash a little video violence of his own.

FEATURES

  • Use hammers, axes, pipes, 2x4s, box cutters, and more to brutalize anything that stands between you and freedom
  • When all else fails, the level itself can be a weapon. Kick props into enemies, or enemies into environment hazards.
  • Photograph gruesome murder scenes to fulfill your dark desires and regain lost health
  • Explore decaying farmhouses, collapsing factories, and seedy strip clubs in a forgotten corner of the Appalachian Forest
  • Experience a unique aesthetic combining the gritty shot-on-video look of found footage with the photosourced visual style of Source Engine games
  • An exercise in genuine audio/visual atmospheric discomfort
  • Learn more about the bizarre nightmare world introduced in Squirrel Stapler and The Pony Factory

Gentlemen, we got him. The game has released. Per usual with David, it exceeds expectations. Game is about 2 hours long, but what he is able to achieve all by his lonesome is very impressive. This game absolutely nails what it sets out to do. Studios numbering in the hundreds cannot capture the sauce that is found here. I'm not saying its' the tensest game ever, but it has a completely unique ambiance and I got physically spooked enough to smack my mouse a few times. A lot has been improved and added to the demo. The new music is a great fit.

Gameplay wise it's a love letter to Condemned Criminal Origins and Manhunt. The melee is crisp and tactile. The weapon selection is basically a small Ace Hardware store. The ping when you crack a guy with the hammer is really good. They don't last long before they break, but you can find something in just about any room. Weapons have unique traits as well. Pocket knives and box cutters cannot be blocked, just like real life. Pipe wrenches are slow and powerful, hammer is not etc.

If this image alone does not separate you from your $8 then what are we even doing here.
