First Robert, now Chris.

Chris Evans is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of the cast for “Avengers: Doomsday,” the highly anticipated sequel that will also star Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, The Wrap has learned exclusively. Evans will be involved in some capacity, but the extent and exact nature of his role is unknown.

By the time this comes out, I don't think dragging back all the Phase 1-3 cast is going to solve anything.

There's no fucking story here. For some reason Marvel thought going the ANAD route would work for them, when the ANAD route had no appeal or creative direction in the comics.

Now, they're dangling nostalgia in front of us when there hasn't even been enough time for nostalgia to settle in.

Secret Wars is going to make $3B when Hugh Jackman and Toby Maguire lead literally every Marvel character to appear in a movie in a battle against RDJ’s Doom.
It would have to just to break even because it's gonna cost them a BILLION DOLLARS for all the cast. Those legacy characters have actors who are gonna SQUEEZE the mouse, and all the new ones are women or POC so as soon as they get a million dollar offer instead of Hugh Jackmans 50 they will go to Twitter and whinge about "white male privilege" and force marvel to some sort of more equitable pay. None of them will take a backend deal since streaming ruined that, so it's $$$ upfront or %gross these days.

They spent a billion on Infinity War and Endgame.

Disney backing the dump truck up to get Chris and Robert back:

Iger knows better than anyone how bad they fucked up Phase 4 and 5 and what they need to do to get the golden goose to lay eggs again. They always did, but they thought they could cheap out on CGI, actors, writers, directors, etc. and rely on the Marvel brand image to carry the movies.

They have a lot of story left to tell with a ton of characters. We have yet to see them really delve into Inhumans, MCU X-Men, the Shi'ar, the Brood, etc...

They didn’t do Phase 4 & 5. After Phases 1-3 make sense for the most part they transitioned into what’s best described as the “Incomprehensible Mess” era.

What’s the big event at the end of Phase 4? I honestly could not begin to guess, and I’ve looked at a list of the phases’ entries.

Just give it a break for a few years. Sheesh.

Now hold on, this is Disney we're talking about. Everything must be beaten relentlessly into the ground until just thinking about your childhood is painful.

Maybe they can buy another IP to burn through soon. There isn't much value left to dissipate from Star Wars, Marvel got cornered into desperation, Indy is already dead, I don't think messing classics like Snow White is enough to burn at Mickey's altar for a whole quarter.

Still shocked we didn’t see endless outrage over that show.

Probably because it was actually good.

Unlike many films of phases 4 and 5 that were lacking in the script department, rushed CGI, etc. Also there were no Avengers films to denote the end of a phase... It felt like there was no direction or overall story. Just a bunch of singular movies ... Which is what some folks have been wanting, isn't it? But I digress. If all of the phase 4 and 5 movie were all great and bangers, no one would be talking like this.

It would be cool if someone at Disney said "yes, the M-She-U was real, yes it was a disaster, yes it cost us billions of dollars, and we fired everyone who pushed it"

You mean the exec who said X-Men "outdated"?

Yes, she was fired.

When will they fire Kathleen Kennedy. I know she is very powerful in the biz, but man she has sucked the life out of SW

Did anyone actually like Agatha though? I hear no talk about it. My wife watched it out of the blue, having watched virtually NOTHING marvel related EVER, so there must be some bored wife instagram movement about it.

Which is FINE. I'm ok with girl stuff Marvel, so long as they don't browbeat me for not seeing it and if they give us GUY STUFF marvel as well. But lately its all girl stuff marvel, or tepid, embarassed, apologetic guy stuff and thats just trash.

A lot of people liked it. Men and women. I really liked The Ballad of the Witch's Road. The story is really good up until the very end which was ... Ok for a denouement.

Deadpool and Wolverine just made that a couple of months ago. And this is out in a year and a half.
Deadpool is very much its own thing not appealing to the same demographic as the typical Avengers movie would though. And this one will have a shit lead up with them already shoehorning in the older Avengers.

No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
Wait, so is RDJ cast as Dr Doom as Tony Stark, or is RDJ just randomly a brand new character in this, and we’re just supposed to ignore that this actor has been Tony Stark in this universe for 20 years?

'They' are saying he's a totally new character, unconnected to his portrayal of Tony, but I think that's total B$ and there is no way RDJ auditioned so well he got 80 MILLION for some villain. It's 100% the connection to Tony Stark they are paying for.

I picture this being an insanely expensive production that may make just enough back to keep this turd circling the drain - just like Star Wars.
It reeks of desperation, but most people will just clap like seals and take it in. If Moana 2 is killing it like it has been, there seems to be a real appetite for mediocre entertainment and rewatching the same shit over and over again.

Everyone already knew 5 years ago that getting rid of 2 highly popular actors will be a horrible idea. But no, they had to learn it the hard way and now pay big bucks to bring them back.

Was never a fan of multiverses being used to undo what we've already seen, but at this point who cares? I'd be completely fine with old man cap sending someone to tell young cap to get his but back to the current timeline.
