Dark Souls 3 Remaster Currently In Development, Says Insider

It's already 60fps on PS5 (but 1080p) and 4k 60 on pc. There is one little game that needs remaster treatment much more called... BloodBorne
That's what I was thinking. Wouldn't it be easier to make an updated patch similar to what is being done with PS5 Pro titles and just charge for it. Seems cheaper than dropping an entirely new SKU as well, but I don't know how that works.

I doubt they can even go beyond those graphics… it’s From…

But if they port and they don’t support ultrawide and 120fps… I swear to god..

If the remaster comes to Switch 2 I'll play the shit out of it. If it's not, I'm good with it on PS5. Already runs great at locked 60 fps and looks sublime. Only benefit of a remaster there would be load times, which are quite long on Playstation.

So you take the latest part, which already looks fine even against Elden Ring, and remaster it, although you have two other parts that you could do with a remaster... Is this a really weird decision, or do they think that they made Dark Souls: Remastered and Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin and that's enough? Although to be honest, the quality of both of these remasters leaves much to be desired...

It won't be that much of an improvement on PC. Even the original Dark Souls with the fps/resolution unlocker looks better on PC than DS1 remaster.

SotFS is a remaster kinda
It's very, very bad, in the DS community it's even considered worse than the original game, because they made changes that made the game worse (increased the number and location of enemies, statues that block passages and much more - you can watch it on YouTube).

You always see this argument when a new one is announced "durr splinter team not going to take away from main focus." Well if every company is making a dozen different remasters, one splinter team here, one splinter team there, in the end it is major resources to redo stuff that's already been make. Total creative bankruptcy.

The justification for these remakes/remasters was always "well they want to put it on a new platform, might as well bring it up to speed." But now they are remastering stuff that already looks and plays fine on current platforms. If a game can be played on PS4 it shouldn't be remade or remastered. This is just stupid at this point.

This is the problem with any of these releases. They will never make everyone happy.

Last time I checked (today), DS3, a 8 years old game, is still full price on the Xbox store (currently on sale at 50%, but…).
It’s pure robbery for such an old game that, to my knowledge, runs at 900p. So yeah, remaster it and sell the remaster at a reasonable price.
BTW, Dark Souls 1 Remastered is still €40 and never goes on sale below 50%.
For what it's worth, DS 1, 2 and 3 went on sale fairly frequently at 75% off for years. It was only after elden ring that they decided to cap it at 50% off. Ya snooze ya lose I guess.

If FROM is doing it, maybe this is their way to get many of their new employees up to snuff on their existing tech stack / tools while generating a bit of revenue?

If FROM is not doing it, nothing short of a remake like Demon's Souls is acceptable. Even then, I'm awfully dubious as the game looks and plays great as is. DS3 is my favorite of all-time FWIW.

What time is it?
My buddy and I replayed all of the Souls games this past year with DS3 being our most recent completion. Having not played it since the last batch of DLC originally released, my fondness for the game took a pretty big hit. It sort of reminds me of the recent trend to create sequels to classic movies that are filled with "remember when?" moments to the point of exhaustion and it fails to create it's own identity. That's not to say it isn't a good game, but I'd rank it towards the bottom of my favorite Souls list.

These "Remaster/Remakes" of recent games is silly, BUT I can see them being useful to train new game developers to learn the ropes, from something that's already made.

If it can fix that horrendous input delay and input queueing I am willing to try it.

They're going to give the DS3 remaster the lighting system that DS2 was supposed to have.

Scholar of the First Sin for PS4/XBONE/PC did most of that already. Mods did the rest. It was not that bad to begin with in comparison to the primitive lighting used in Dark Souls Remastered.

That's bullshit. Item placement is better and statues were in the original as well. The best item placement is the move of the Ember to the Bastille where the blacksmith that can do infusions early in the game instead of having it later in Iron Keep (requires beating Heide's Tower, Huntsman's Copse, Harvest Valley, and Earthen Peak). Other great moves are the availability of the unpetrifying branch to merchant in Forest of Fallen Giants, Bastille, and No Man's Wharf to allow earlier access to Shaded Woods. Also some equipment gets great bonuses and extra resistances for improved utility. The number of enemies and locations are only slightly different and in some instances the original is worse in trapping the player against mobs. Best of all it works at 60fps instead of breaking by hacking a game running on 30fps logic.

I like 2

Can we get a 2 remaster. You know, the one that needs remastering?

Thanks.
Well, there is a mod called Seeker of Fire that comes pretty close.

Cool it gives me an excuse to replay it yet again. Loved that game, was the last FROM souls game for me that got the difficulty with the bosses right because afterwards they just went retarded with it.

Midir, Sister Freide, and Demon Duo are more difficult than the Elden Ring bosses. Elden Ring also has more abusable buff stacking.

(If true) Day 1. One of my GOATs picks. Can’t understand why though cause it looks great already. Oh well. Dark Souls 2 would be awesome to see redone, especially with improvements to the controls.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
Gonna go from looking like a ps3 game to looking like a PS4 game.

From doesn’t have the ability to make a current gen looking game.

Waste of time. Make something new
