Fuck this Tomb of Giants, finally made it to Nito and promptly got my ass kicked. Hate these Skeleton dogs.
Skeleton dogs are the fucking worst. I feel your pain.Fuck this Tomb of Giants, finally made it to Nito and promptly got my ass kicked. Hate these Skeleton dogs.
I barely had any problems with the skeleton dogs to be honest. As long as you only fight one at a time they're easy to deal with.
the game assumes you as a helper want to watch the cut scenes...the host likely pressed start button to rid of it, you need to do the same or it will play. Thanks for the help.
I've been quite surprised by how many people don't attempt the bosses by themselves first. I'm regularly seeing the boss introduction cutscenes but I suppose if people want to co-op the whole game, then it's up to them![]()
are you left handed what is unnatural with having the shield in the left and the sword in the right?Started the game yesterday on 360 and got to Firelink Shrine. Holy hell, is the framerate going to be this choppy for the entire game? I almost died to the first boss because one of my rolls didn't register, since I think I pressed the roll button while the game was stuttering.
Also is there any way to switch the bumpers and triggers? Blocking with LB and attacking with RB feels so unnatural.
Last question - I chose the master key as my gift but in another thread people were suggesting newcomers not pick the master key since it's made for skipping the easy parts and going to harder areas faster, and that it would get me in trouble if I'm not familiar with the game. Should I reroll and pick another gift?
SL1 is not as hard as you think...the game is based on attack power, not defense, you can dodge all attacks in the game....vitality and defense is relatively unnecessary fdr an experienced player. If you max out weapons at SL 1 you are minimally less powerful, but simply have less defence. The best way to experience a different game altogether is to do a SL1 no upgrades run and use only what you can hold at base stats....not upgrading makes it a different game and was the best experience I have had as souls enthusiast...not because I'm all macho, but because it gave me new problems to sort out and enabled me to get yet another 15-30 hours of new content out of the game that already gave me 1000.SL 1, huh? I'll probably attempt that after about 50 playthroughs. I had enough trouble at SL 75.
There are better weapons out there...it hits hard but what about reach? What about varied moveset? There are literally a hundred weapons in the game...try a few less obvious ones and find the one that turns your crank...if that is the battle axe I would be surprised, but if it is what you wish to use after trying all others..... that is definitely your choice.Do you feel like the battle axe is a worthwhile investment? I've played the game about 10 times but have always stopped and rerolled after ringing the first bell. I like attacks from the battle axe but I don't want to dump too much into it if it too will be underpowered.
For mid and late game what is a good hit damage number that will see me through?
never consume boss souls,,,make all the weapons and try them out...both the ones mentioned are relatively AWESOME for different reasons...they may not fit your playstyle or parameters, but you want to know they are there just in case. Souls are easy to come by....unique weapons, less so.Do the souls of the Iron Golem and Quelaag make any decent weapons, or should I just consume them?
Started a SL 1 playthrough. It's not going well.
Maybe I should have completed the game more than once before attempting it.
....That is so not what he said. lolare you left handed what is unnatural with having the shield in the left and the sword in the right?
You will put the Lordvessel in the altar, but will keep the ability to warp between bonfires.Um, so I talked to Frampt after getting the Lordvessel (I went back to Firelink Shrine to resurrect Anastasia) and he took me to Firelink Altar and he is telling me to place the Lordvessel in the altar. Will I lose the Lordvessel when I do this?

Yep, there is always something new...a guy did a top 10 things you didnt know about dark souls vid and had to do 5 volumes of sequels as he kept finding more stuff most people didnt know. Ive played close to 2500 hours of souls since 2009, own a hard copy of the DS guide, and his vids caught me at least once per video....just today I learned something new although it escapes me at this juncture what that was.I'll admit I haven't really given many of the weapons a go. I know I have a ton of weapons in my box that I haven't really messed with yet. I've also only ever made it to the first blacksmith. If I understand right as I make it to the others they will sell some much better weapons, right? Also I assume as I get further in the game weapon drops will get better too. So instead of always getting longsword, short sword, and axe drops I might get something a little better, I hope.
I will make more of an effort to test out some more of the weapons that I already own. I'm going to be hanging out in the Berg for a while so that I can grind and level up a bunch before I head out so that sounds like a good opportunity to put some of these weapons to the test. I probably souldn't have leveled up my axe to +5 already and waste all of those titanite pieces, damn. I really should have held off on upgrading until after I had more experience with a greater variety of weapons.
I'm always learning things with this game. That's why I love it so much.![]()
OK the Taurus Demon has kicked my butt three times in a row now and I don't even know how I'm supposed to do any damage to him. I do the plunging attack and it takes off like 1/6 of his health, but my attacks do shit for damage and he destroys me with every swipe. I try to roll through his attacks but that doesn't help. I'm level 6, am I supposed to grind before I fight this ass?
Edit: I don't have a 100% block shield so blocking his attacks still does a lot of damage to me.
....That is so not what he said. lol
ilnad, you can't switch the controls, sorry to say. It feels perfectly right on an PS3 controller, but when I tried it on PC with a 360 controller everything felt horribly off. Had to plug in my DS3 to the PC because of it.
you dont have to grind superfluously to kill taurus but a good weapon will help...upgrade what you have a bit more perhaps...
So I just encountered and died to Seath the Scaleless for the first time, and it took me to a Bonfire that I've never been to. There are two doors that are locked and I can't do anything.
I do have the pine resin and I am a pyromancer so I have the fire attack, but it takes so damn long to actually cast that it's basically worthless. I'm probably timing my rolls badly because I keep getting hit during them. I think I may not be underneath 25% encumbrance so maybe I'll change that up a little bit. I'll apply the pine resin as well, hopefully that helps.
Try installing the GFWL clienti really want to play this on my pc but it doesn't work. I have windows 8.1. every time, without fail, after the loading screen that shows up after creating a new character, the game crashes. i've tried dsfix and verifying the cache. no dice. any suggestions?
Try installing the GFWL client

So I've been having some fun at the forest recently fighting gankers (that feeling when the ganker becomes the ganked is too good), but I wanted to know. I'm coming across a lot of people in full havels with great swords and flipping. How high of a level must they be? One guy gave me 600k souls 0_0. I'm lvl 100 btw.
So glad phantoms have to heal by themselves in DS2. Definitely going to be a brotherhood of the blood member.

DO NOT use:
ring of favour and protection, you will need both ring slots.
Also wish From had made it possible to roll dodge the Soul Missile in the fight, instead of just running left as fast as possible to get close to the king and hoping for the best.
Crest shield blocks most of the damage.
If you didn't purchase the Reinforced Club yet, do it! That weapon is significantly more powerful than your Hand Axe and you can use it without increasing dexterity.
Before doing the plunging attack, 2H your weapon and you'll see that you'll do much more damage to him.
Switching between 1H and 2H efficiently is very important and it will help you during the entire game.
Rickert. Some of the Burg enemies do drop titanite, so it's possible (but not necessary) to upgrade before getting to Andre. He hasn't made it to the Undead Parish yet, how would he upgrade?

As for Taurus, his attacks are so slow, stand in front of him (not in his face, with a little distance) and he will wind up for an attack, walk backwards as he swings, run in for a couple of hits, rinse and repeat.
Or Gold Pine Resin from Burg, jump from the tower attack x 3 and be done with it if you want to skip the challenge![]()
Infinite uses.Question about the white and orange soapstone - can I only use them once before I have to buy a new one? That seems pretty annoying.
I actually am using the longsword rather than the Hand Axe. Should I be using the club instead?
I didn't realize about the 2H thing, that makes sense. Thanks.
Edit: Woohoo killed him! Made sure to keep my distance, bait him into swings, then attack while he was vulnerable. He took me down to a sliver of health though so I ran back to the last bonfire I was at to refill my Estus Flasks and use my 9,000 souls I've gathered in my attempts to kill him.
Congratulations! I hope the 2H tip helped.
Regarding your question, the Reinforced Club is stronger, has the bleed effect and more efficient to stun enemies but it's slower, uses more stamina and its moveset is meh compared to the Long Sword. It's very powerful and especially good for low level runs since its requirements are low.
Yeah the 2H plunge definitely did a lot more damage than the 1H plunge. That combined with the Fireballs helped me take him out.
I also have a Morning Star though that I picked up near Firelink Shrine, which also has the bleed effect. Is that a good replacement for the Reinforced Club?
I just beat this guy too, took me three tries. I didn't dodge anything just used Eagle Shield and Claymore and just tanked my way through (I should really learn how to dodge properly). And damn, I did not know there was a pendant that would shrug off the magic. You are not the father!
Fight was not that bad, pretty easy to dodge all in all. That magic though, fuck. Then I remembered about the pendant, shrugged all that shit off like a boss.
All that's left now is Kalameet and Gwyn and that'll conclude my magic (or sword buffs) whatsoever playthrough. Doesn't seem like a big deal with people running around butt naked at SL1 but the other two times I beat the game (in 2011) I cheesed hard with Pyro and an Int build. The concept of hitting things exclusively is entirely new to me. Not sure what I wanna do next, I don't want to go hard on this with DS2 coming out. Man this game is good!
Morning Star has the same speed, same everything but it's less powerful than the Reinforced Club.
It has a very cool look though.
Got it. I think I'll stick with the morning star for now since I don't really like how slow it is and I don't really use it at all.
I spent 5 mins farming around the bonfire so I could buy a repair box. Not sure how helpful it is but I figured I might as well buy one. Should I also get a bottomless box from the merchant?
