DC Studios: Pattinson will not be the DCU Batman

Gunn was quick to answer Weintraub with a rather revealing response, saying, "It's certainly not the plan. Like it's certainly not the plan." With Safran adding, "No, yeah, and we love him, but you know, we have to introduce a Batman into the DCU. You know, it's imperative and so, that's the plan with Brave and the Bold."

Nothing about Pattinson’s Batman would make it feel believable he had slept with Talia al Ghul over a decade ago and she had become pregnant with Damian. Also, a good chunk of the Batfamily will be pre-established, and The Batman 2022 makes it extremely clear Bruce is a loner save for Alfred. Plus, I know Pattinson is 38, but his Bruce was stated to be around 30 in the 2022 movie, so the idea of him sleeping with Talia when he was like 19, adopting Dick Grayson in his 20’s, yeah that’s fucking stupid.

For Brave and the Bold, they’ll definitely be going with an actor for Bruce who is or at least looks late 30’s.

So patently (Pattinsonly) obvious.

And I don’t mind it. We have a gritty realistic DC “universe” of The Batman / The Penguin and then the over the top new DCU that has stuff like flying jellyfish.

tbh i didnt enjoy batman by patterson. Fight scenes looked really weird, nonstop dialogue that led nowhere. His suit was very well crafted however. I respect batman ben a lot more, and batman bale close second

Pattinson is an actor, I've little doubt he could act a little differently to be a different version of Bruce Wayne. Not sure why they feel the need to keep hunting for new actors when they have one that works.

Buuuut, if we are casting fresh, give me a brick wall Alan Ritchson batman, True Paul Dini/Bruce Timm style.

I get it but the amount of batmen has gotten fucking ridiculous. Same with superman.

DC has never been good at unifying their universe. They started the multiverse and then we're the 1st to destroy it in infinite worlds cause it was too confusing.

Then they did a "good" job with the shows being consistent even with all the crossovers.

It gets boring having these origin films as someone who tangentially follows the DC universe. Same with their animated features; lots of them are great but alotv are stand alone stories so we get origin shit all the time

In the DCU, there's no origin stories... Brave and the Bold STARTS with an already established Bat-Family... Superman starts with an already established Superman and other heroes existing...

DC has never wanted to cross their TV with their movies... The DCU is the first time for that. Even Penguin is the first time for the Pattinson Batman universe. Creature Commandos was the first foray into the DCU and Rick Flagg Sr will cross over into Superman and Peacemaker season 2. Clayface will also cross over from CC to the big screen.

My point is there is no consistency. It's like Disney's shotgun approach to star wars; flood the market and hope it sticks.

I'm tired of being introduced to characters for the 1st time. I don't care that the bold and the brave has established batman.

It's too much content. Plus even if you wanna follow DC, HBO makes it hard as they pull animated features for absurd reasons, oh sorry for tax breaks.

How are non DC fans supposed to follow this shit?

As the father of a teenage Damian Wayne, the adoptive father of Nightwing?
The actor is 28. Kinda depends on how they play the backstory with Talia but I don't see why a teenage fling on Waynes part couldn't saddle him with a pre/early teen son while he is in his early 30's himself. Same with Nightwing. If a Batman just a few years in, say mid-20s, took an apprentice/ward, how long would it take for a teenaged ward to become an adult himself and strike out on his own? Alexander was conquering Persia at 22, Napolean was well on his way through wars by his mid 20s. Medal of Honor recipients have been in their teens.

I agree that, especially today, young actors look REALLY YOUNG on screen and that hurts them in being convincing for these gritty, serious roles. But if DCU Batman is a bit lighter hearted, more whimsical, less pathos ridden by the death of his parents re-lived over and over, then a younger actor who can give 10-15 years to the role might be a good choice. Sadly Hollywood is always gonna be plagued with men who can stretch into their 60's as a leading man but women who flame out in their 30's as leading women, especially structured around male oriented action projects. Harder to pair them up the older the man starts.

I think it will be Chris Pratt. Before you laugh at that idea you should watch the show The Terminal List. He's really great in that darker role. I also don't think the Gunnverse will require Nolan levels of acting from Bats.
