Do we expect Drag x Drive to be the next major Nintendo I.P.?

No Way GIF

I'm expecting it to do way worse than ARMS did on Switch(1).

Visually I think it's one of the most uninteresting Nintendo games I've ever seen. Black/grey colors and characters that all look identical with zero personality.

Maybe they're hiding loads of stuff for whatever reason, but right now it looks like a tough sell…

The game looks like absolute t-rex shit truthfully. Color palette is hideous, the graphics look unfinished and like dog crap, and the characters look awful. The game looks unfinished.

No. nobody wants to be disabled and play as one.
And it's not representation lol. Doubt disabled people want to be disabled in a game too...

I'm for disabled focused games but this ain't it. Why not make human characters and have a create a character option so that people who would be interested in this could create themselves into the game. They could've had a story mode with tournaments, and do online tournaments where you go against other users who might be disabled and playing this as well. They also should've made the color palette vibrant and bright to match the energy of the style of game they're supposed to be going for here. Right now this looks like shit and if they weren't going to do this thing right then they shouldn't of done it at all.

that's way better ideas you have than anything in that game

Wait, this is a full retail game and not just a tech demo?

I don't think Nintendo has made any kind of official statement on this, but we haven't seen any sign of box art or a physical retail version, so everything points to it being a smaller digital-only release.

Anyway, unless the gameplay is way more fun than it looks, I doubt it will do particularly well. The real question might be:

What do you expect to bomb harder: Drag X Drive or Welcome Tour?

It will do worse than Arms, much worse.

I am happy about Nintendo at least doing something like this, but it lacks any Nintendo flavor. It should look like Splatoon or Rocket League.

It may be fun, but it looks terrible.

Care to explain why do you believe Metroid Prime is a niche franchise?

Sales.

Anyway, when I saw this game the vibe was halfway between ARMS and a minigame in a title like Wii Play.

Doubt it will be a full on game like ARMS or that they expect anything huge.

Then again I didn't expect Welcome Tour either

lol. No.

Only reason why it isn't getting universally panned is because you play as handicap people in a wheel chair and games media would never attack a game like that.

I'm a big Nintendo fanboy and I think this game looks like absolute shit. Never should've left the brainstorm sessions.

It's a really surprisingly stupid game from Nintendo. Arms made sense because the gameplay focuses on your hands and the way you stretch them.

Here there is no sense, instead of moving the character with a joystick you're given a worse control scheme to control it.

Their next big "new" IP is Donkey Kong Bananza which likely started off as a concept that didn't involve Donkey Kong.
It seems more logical that it had Wario in it, but they probably thought that Donkey Kong would be a bigger hit thanks to the Mario movie.

Care to explain why do you believe Metroid Prime is a niche franchise?
I was joking in my post, but it actually is a niched IP in comparison to Mario and Zelda. The series has gotten great critical reception, but the sales numbers have come nowhere close to Nintendo's main franchises.

What?

- Metroid Prime is the 6th best selling GameCube title with 2.84 million.
- Metroid Prime 2 is the 33th best selling GameCube title with 1.10 million.
- Metroid is the 18th best selling NES title with 2.73 million.
- Super Metroid is the 34th best selling SNES title with 1.42 million.
- Metroid Fusion is the 23th best selling GBA title with 1.6 million.
- Metroid Prime 3 is the 48th best selling Wii title with 1.41 million.
- Metroid Prime Hunters is the 71th best selling DS title with 1.08 million.
- Metroid Dread is the 46th best selling Switch title with 3.07 million.
- Metroid Prime Remastered is the 90th best selling Switch title with 1.09 million.

The series always had a consistent sales history on different consoles along different decades, there were some fumbles and disappointments, like Federation Force, Zero Mission, Samus Returns and Other M, for sure, but everything else always sold very consistently. No wonder why Nintendo is betting on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Sure, this isn't Super Mario, Zelda, Pokémon and Animal Crossing sales level, but calling it "niche" because of that is a dubious reasoning, unless you have a shareholder/investor-like easy and quick profit-orientated mentality, then yes, Metroid isn't for you. Top Nintendo IPs sales are actually the exception of the rule and if you consider everything else "niche" under that logic, then I guess 90% of the entire gaming market is "niche" then.

Anyway, I highly doubt Drag x Drive will reach that sales margin.
