Does the Days Gone upgrade work with the 'Instant Game Collection' version?

Hopefully it will follow and only be around £10.

The recent horizon remaster was the same, but Sony had given the original for free on so many different channels (I think I got my copy from their Covid free games promo)

I have it showing as premium for me just now, but i am sure i picked it up on the instant game collection (and more importantly the game licence from there)

Don't know how will this go, but i'm still waiting for a fix to allow me to buy 10$ upgrade Horizon Remaster with original 2017 disk lol
Strange, for me the Remaster is "$10/€10", when logging in and checking on playstation.com, and I also only own the disc version of Horizon, however its the "Complete Edition" disc version.

Pretty sure it will, people were able to do the $10 upgrade with the Instant game collection of Horizon zero dawn. I think games claimed via the instant game collection are treated like a regular purchased game. I think even ps plus monthly free games are treated like this.
Fingers crossed!!

Yeah it seems only CUSA-07319 (Special Edition Steelbook) disk version upgrade path don’t show, maybe when Days Gone launch will fix it xD

But that is the same as adding ps plus essential games, it still has the PS plus mark, which means You don't own the Game. Unlike Horizon Zero dawn which was given for free.
I think the instant game collection ones you DO get to keep if you redeemed it. It was limited time anyway.

Why would it? You got Days Gone for ps4 as part of your ps+ sub…not Days Gone Remastered. In fact, why do you think you should get any upgrade for free on a subscription included game when it comes out later?

Horizon's was even if you got the game free so I'd bet this is the case for Days Gone too. And Horizon's was a far more substantial remaster.

I'm not expecting it for free.

I just checked and it actually says 'purchased' on the game in the store.

But it's only showing the remaster as 44.99 - I think we had to wait until release date last time did we?

Why would any company give free upgrades for people who already got it on sub plan?

So if you sub to cable tv and the company launches new 4k channels, everyone who currently gets the normal HD channels gets the new 4k versions for free? Nope.

The company may give you some free 4k channels part of the existing package. But more likely the 4k channels will be part of a higher tier package you got to pay for.

If you’re one of the millions who redeemed Days Gone as part of your PS Plus subscription all the way back in April 2021, you won’t be eligible for a cheap $10 upgrade to the new PS5 version of the game.

While everyone who purchased Days Gone on the PS4 will be able to upgrade to Days Gone Remastered for the aforementioned price, small print on the PS Blognotes that anyone who claimed the game through Sony’s subscription will be excluded.

If it shows 45 GBP then it's no good.

People actually purchased it should see 10 dollar/pound.

The PS app is a bit funky in regards to those PS plus titles, they all show "purchased" in the app. But if you go to web store, it actually shows "download" and has another tab allowing you to buy the games.

Did they actually gift Zero Dawn before the collection once? Might have made a difference in license.

Regardless, my guess is they will not make it eligible initially to try getting people to pay more than 10, but will make it eligible after a couple weeks.

Yeah it wasn't ps+ technically. It was the instant game collection.
Yeah, you don't need PS+ to play the game, AFAIK. And there is no way to purchase this one like the PS+ monthly games still have after redemption.

Yes.

It wasn't a sub game like PS+

It was an actual free game you can play without subbing to PS+.

When you redeem a + game, you can still purchase it outside of the "free +" version. This one, you can't, because it was a limited time they were giving the actual games away for free.

It worked for Horizon Zero Dawn, so should work here too.

Edit: Can confirm this works for the instant collection, only way I own it is through it and it's allowing me to pre order for €10

I have the PS+ Collection and it doesn't work for me.

Looks like a change in policy, probably from revenues around Horizon. I'm guessing too many of the people who did upgrade were from the PS+ collection and PS+ monthly. I think they should be happy to get that 10 dollars from anyone who has it, but that's me.

Yes they did, it was part of play at Home initiative, when COVID pandemic started

They had a Plus version (in April 2021) along with the Game Collection one. If you claimed the Plus version prior to the IGC one (like I did since I did not get my PS5 until Fall of that year), then you are shit out of luck. Since it would not let you claim the IGC (which could only be done if you owned a PS5), and showed you already had it.

If you claimed that one instead of the game collection one, then there is the issue.

Ah well, bummer.

Probably what I did. I haven't played it yet though. So in all honesty I just wanna pay a tenner to have it in my library lol

Yeah, unfortunately it's what I did, because I didn't know when I was going to get a PS5 (and when the IGC would expire) and nabbed it on plus for the backlog. I would have paid $10 all day and dived in again, but will not $50.

Well it gave me the option to upgrade Horizon Zero Dawn that way so who knows? Maybe Days Gone will be the same.

This way there's no danger of subscription services or game devaluation taking hold too much in their ecosystem. Rude awakening only for the few freeloaders on Sony systems that don't buy their games. Most Sony gamers would rather avoid subs completely and buy their games at full price with physical copies and already got this at launch.
