welcome to modern games, buy doom for the SP and buy overwatch for the MP ugh...
12 months of Gold + Doom + Overwatch? Hmmm...that's going to hurt a little at the end of the month.

Typical the really good games score lower in favor of the more popular games. DOOM fell off the map a while ago, and didn't leave on good footing. So there is still bad taste in the air. Even if they would have scrapped MP, people would have subtracted points for that simply because DOOM's popularity included both. It's really bad.
If this game was HL3, it would be in the 90s because HL2/HL1 was such great games. Just the way bias swings in this industry.
So surprised at how much I loved this game. Man.
Gotdamn at the downvotes and comments on the IGN review video.
My faith in gamers is being restored.
did a search, didn't see it posted.
PCGamer Review in Progress.
"Agree with my opinion or be damned!" yep sure is faith restoring. We havent gotten anywhere since the Twilight Princess days.

The reviewer himself came on here, to tell us if we didn't understand the score, we just didn't understand the "process".
Hope I'm not the only person here who thought the game was terrible....
Also if you like the multiplayer you are wrong. It is specifically and measurably bad. You are not allowed that opinion.

SteamSpy won't have accurate data yet, but the good word of mouth has propelled it to a permanent place at the top of the Steam Sales chart.

Why would anyone hope such a thing?Hope I'm not the only person here who thought the game was terrible....
Not really sure if anyone's interested, but I did a video review. I guess it doesn't have any information anyone doesn't already know, but watch on if you're interested I guess: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1MmskA0dkA
"Measurably bad"
You can measure the suckness with a stick!!
I am in the second "chapter" of the game but so far a 7 feels about spot on in my opinion. i also miss the cartoonish monster design of the old games. I felt this way about 3 too however. Now all the enemies seem to lack color and individual style and blend together. It is hard for me to tell what enemy is which while running around an "arena" the game has boxed me in while it spawns a certain amount of enemies. Hell Knights look like the bigger possessed, for example, at first glance.Come on what? 7.1? It's insulting, especially when IGN gave COD ghosts an 8.8.

I am not a fan of how the first half of the game has looked either. But I guess that's how you hit 60fps. The second chapter thankfully has better art direction so far.
I am having fun, but as a huge Doom 1 and 2 fan, it doesn't remotely compare to the old games for me.

So move on. People have differing opinions, it's a fact of life.
Except that reviewer doesn't agree with that. Doom has features that are " specifically and measurably bad". There's no room for opinion.

I'd say that the multiplayer is specifically and measurably average. I played two matches in the beta and one match in the final product and will likely never touch it again.
However, I haven't really dug into a multiplayer shooter since Modern Warfare 2. I'm sure later games have improved and what I consider average someone would consider bad.
You might not agree with the metrics the reviewer used to come to their opinion, and you may rankle at the direct language used, but it's still an opinion even if it is a harshly worded one.
And let's be honest here, DOOM is an amazing package but even with that understood, I would talk someone off the fence if they were getting this primarily/only for the multiplayer.
It's okay to disagree with reviews. It doesn't impact your enjoyment of the game, and everyone is entitled to their own views, and are allowed to express them as tersely as they want (especially if they're already put out a long review to back up their specific arguments).
It's all cool.
Sadly you're correct."Agree with my opinion or be damned!" yep sure is faith restoring. We havent gotten anywhere since the Twilight Princess days.
I will sheepishly admit to wanting more MP content.Hope the DLC is more SP oriented than MP.
No one plays DOOM for MP.
And we're back to debating numbers. I'm already missing the 3/4 days of actual discussion.
