It's weird, because it's David Duchovny in a dress, but I felt like Denise was done with subtlety and tact compared to so much of the bull shit we see today. Denise came in the room, people reacted, and at some point Cooper asked her what caused the change, and that's it. Every time someone "comes out" as something today, it feels like they're throwing a parade, and are like "ME ME ME". It's not the "being yourself" aspect that gets me, it's shoving it in other people's faces and acting like they're better for it. Also, at least Denise seemed to be a person who just accepted their physical body, and don't mutilate it.
I did always like what Gordon says to her in The Return, lol

Not going to lie, seeing clips from this thread and reading comments it brings me back to 2014, nobody talks about their gender expression as it was back then when young cringy Twitterinos made everything about their gender. And gamers™ were hating on everything. This definitely missed time (by a long shot) when this would be for certain group "the most important thing". High school was like... fine, Sure it was me at my most athletic and getting the first bits of action, but university for me was better and where i made most of my close friends today. I think people are pissed because the only reason this character exists is to promote an agenda.
The developers of this game made an intentional decision to use this franchise to promote their utopian societal, political agenda.

In the original game I had to choose to kill a child who was possessed, or decided to kill a tribe of werewolves over an elf tribe. Those were dark decisions that really tested your morality, which was on par with RPGs of the day (choosing to nuke megaton in FO3 comes to mind)
I haven't seen anything like this in the new DA game. It all looks very safe and friendly. Not my cup of tea.
