That's an excellent article, I especially liked this bit, which is soo fucking true, nobody has an issue with trans people, we all know they exist and id like to think we'd all be decent human beings towards them and treat them with respect but when the nutjobs amongst them start to dictate how WE should feel and how WE should act then they overstep the mark and put a crosshair on everyone, the clips I've seen no matter how short within the game are enough for me to hard pass through principe alone, nor will my kid be allowed to get it, you don't get to lecture me or my kid on how to fucking apologise for misgendering someone, god that scene is beyond a parody and they can't even see it, anyways the author gives an excellent example how THEY should've approached the scene but let's face it, the cunts where never about subtlety..
That’s the problem with preaching to the choir. Someone not normally inclined to sympathy toward trans people might read The Bright Sword and actually walk away with more complicated feelings; nobody playing The Veilguard will. Instead, they’ll be rightfully annoyed at having this type of 21st century dialogue (hamfisted even for the modern era) foisted upon them midway through a fantasy RPG.

On the one hand I LOVE cyberpunk and its pretty much all coming true, on the gripping hand cyberpunk is dystopic as all hell for anyone outside of the top 1% and I'm pretty sure I'm well outside that group

So it is possible to totally skip this character? Most of the cut scenes posted only have a few characters in them so is it possible to TOTALLY skip anything at all with each companion or do you have to have them all in your party? And if they are all forced to be in your party, can you just ignore this character to never see this stuff (I hear companion skill progression is linked to their story progression) and still play the rest of the game?
The art direction alone isn't endearing me to this game but if Taash is totally skippable or could at least be a minor character just participating in battles then maybe it would be tolerable. Though who knows, maybe there is enough with this character acting like a normal person to hook me to find out more about her and her mommy issues.

The whole scene for me just screams how cis people think trans people think and react. Maybe I’m wrong but this I think is a more realistic scenario:
Cis: (misgenders a person)
Trans: (shuts up because it’s probably an honest mistake and it happened for the first time)

Amen, a huge majority of people don’t like that crap. A lot of people don’t actually have problems with gays and lesbian especially when the world was better and more sane since it’s still male and female as it should be. It’s the whole lgbtqbbqz movement that people have problems with but only because they not only try to push the most insane stuff with weird pronouns and thinking it’s okay to sex change but worst is that they want you to think it’s normal too. If they keep the crazy stuff to themselves then it wouldn’t have been anywhere as hated by people. Like the trans in Thailand aka Lady boys there at least acknowledge that they are lady boys and will let people know that they are one and keeps to themselves.

I'm spanish and the game's subtitles are a FUCKING DISASTER. A lot of characters speak using "gender neutral" pronouns and articles in every situation, and guess what...spanish language DOESN'T HAVE gender neutral. Things use masculine or femenine articles and pronouns (ending in -a for fem and -o for masc). The game is plagued with words ending in -e that doesn't exists in my language and it's super annoying.

Edit: There is exactly one Lets Play of the Game in Chinese on Youtube, and the player is skipping through the dialogue.

For people such as the one above, can they just change their minds about how they wish to be addressed on a daily basis? Because if so, that's actually pretty unfair to everyone else.
One day, he/him, the next day, she/her, and the next day not wanting to be gendered at all. A week later, back to feeling like being he/him.
