I'm glad we get orchestrated now immediately at release over the midi crap, because of an obvious reason...

Too soon?

I wish I wasn't bothered by the 1st person combat, but I am. This is a remake, why not update that part of the game too, to make it more like the current titles? The way it is right now looks so cheap and unimpactful...

Agreed. After playing DQXI I cant go back to that first person view.

Wait, they go back of Akira art direction?

Good to know at least some sort of respect for the source material.
No the Female Warrior still wears ugly orange clothes and the Female Cleric still worships the Devil by displaying a Pitchfork instead of a Holy Cross.

They never stopped using the Toriyama style but you see censorship or altered designs everywhere. Very sad.

There's something bugging me about this game (and no it's not that)
Is it a compilation of all games or a reimagining of the three games in a single story?

I paid good money for this Dynex!

Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this, but has it been confirmed that the censorship is going to be in all versions of the game, or is it a situation where Japan still gets the normal version and the West gets the "words are violence" one?

Definitely looking forward to this question being answered myself, but it seems to be universal judging from the Japanese footage(both normal event gameplay & the now removed interview) I watched during TGS.

Pre-ordered. Love DQ11 so excited to try this, but the first person combat is something I can see myself get annoyed by.

I guess I wouldn't be surprised, though I suppose it'd make sense to give it a day or two after launch to see if there's an unbowdlerized version.

Not that the changes are massive. The Type A/Type B thing is just dumb - the only one that bothers me is them changing the troll dude's lips, because it just looks kinda weird now. And what else am I gonna do? Play the Famicom original?

If the game was fully 3D like DQXI then I would agree but this game for most part is 2D so for me it wont bother me since enjoy similar first person combat JRPG like Strange Journey.

Given the censorship in FFVIIR series(mostly Tifa stuff with revealing outfits being altered, Cid Highwind being a different character essentially), DEI Influence in FFXIV Dawntrail and the censorship of Dragon Quest it has become very clear that Square Enix has embraced DEI guidelines.

Given Yuji Horii spoke out and his interview was deleted by Square(but it's the internet) I think the changes are universal and will persist in DQ 1 and 2 HD as well.

We sadly aren't getting an answer until the game releases in November. But the censorship is here to stay. Welcome to the future of Dragon Quest.

Yeah. Really ashamed of being a DQ fan right now to be honest.

I'm Catholic and love when games have holy warrior types, but the cross change doesn't bother me much. Generally, fantasy games try to distance themselves from real-world people, countries, and religions. The religion in DQ is obviously based on Christianity on a visual/surface-level but it's still its own thing. The cross change has been around since 2005's Dragon Quest VIII (which incidentally is when the series stopped being called Dragon Warrior).

The outfit alterations are for CERO ratings unfortunately. The Appearance A/B thing is ludicrous and Yuji Horii is awesome for speaking out against it. But to those who asked, the censorship etc persists across all versions of the game. It's annoying but the rest of the game looks amazing.
