Dwayne Johnson will star as a Hawaiian crime boss in Martin Scorsese’s next film

So this is why he changed his wrasslin gimmick to the “Final Boss” recently.
Does this final boss gimmick mean that he finally brought back his heel rock persona?

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
Wow, genuinely shocked, but hes gonna pull it off.

Some actors just need great writing and directing

he certainly has the character to pull off that character

very interested

On a related note, here's The Rock as Mark Kerr on the set of Benny Safdie's The Smashing Machine. Although he was a good fit in some ways, he was also an odd choice because he's so much older than Kerr was at the time. But it definitely seems like he's trying to pivot to more serious acting roles.

I just saw how AI would create a Van Damme and The Rock love child in these photos.

Rock was better when he was still a human. Now he's 80% roids, 80% ego, and 40% money. Twice as unlikeable as he's ever been.

In wrestling terms he has go away heat in the movie industry. His acting roles are Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson playing Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and he squandered any good will he had in the industry.

He's only cheered in wrestling because he was the second biggest star in the most popular era ever.

What Rock is known for in 2025:

In wrestling he pushed his way into the spotlight in a huge storyline until the entire industry backlashed in a monumental way, forcing him to back the fuck down and pretend he was pivoting for what's right when really he was going to get himself booed out of Wrestlemania. His daughter is for some reason the GM of NXT and his cousin definitely only returned because of Dwayne.

In Hollywood he's gained himself a reputation of ruining things with his huge ego, turning up many hours late to set and pissing in bottles because going to a toilet like normal people apparently takes too long. Notable examples are Black Adam forcing focus in the DC movies but tanking like crazy. Red One for a more recent example.

On social media he's been caught lying constantly in his pursuit of shamelessly plugging anything he's asked to do. He went to In n Out Burger for the first time on 3 different occasions.

In interviews his attempts at saying the right thing are completely transparent. He comes across as incredibly fake and it just makes him look worse. He will contradict himself constantly because he just says what he thinks people want to hear.

The best thing for him would be to go away for a few years, drop the roids, pull his head out of his own arse, and have a fresh start. He was once genuinely likeable.

Oh, and the film? I don't see it being good with him as a lead.

IntentionalPun

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
Man I just don't know lol

I always thought even the roles he was praised for his acting was super mid (Pain and Gain/The Rundown.)

But still kinda curious and I LOVE every Scorsese crime flick (other than Bad Grandpas or whatever that one he made for Netflix was called.)

For some reason, someone's still trying to make this charisma black hole happen.

Guy is one of the fakest celebrities alive, and the least we talk about his "acting" the better...
As much as I like the rock. His nice guy persona really does come across as fake. Especially hearing all the wild stories of how unprofessional he is on set being late all the time etc .

Alot of his movies are bad and flop too. No idea how he became the highest earner in Hollywood.

Can you expand on the wrestling thing? I know he drops in and out of it occasionally. But what storyline has he forced only for there to be huge backlash. Is that recently?

I thought he was good in Moana. Besides that I can't think of one thing that he was in that was good. I didn't see Pain and Gain.

This does sound interesting though.

Gray, give pain and gain a go, it's Bay's only (semi) serious film, it's decently directed, has decent cinematography and the chemistry between Mark Wahlberg, the Rock and the other black guy (can't remember his name at the moment) is Good-ish enough.

It's an entertaining film, you could do (much) worse with your free time brother 😉 (ie : compared to all the other Michael Bay slop).

The other guy is none other than the new captain America 😂. Aka captain nobody.

Pain and gain is quite funny and the rock is actually retarded in it.

It was entertaining, but do yourself a favor and watch the actual true crime documentaries on it as well.

It was the Cody Rhodes storyline where his goal/dream was to "Finish the story" at 2024's Wrestlemania. The story being to win the title that they took from his dad in Madison Square Garden many years ago. This had been going on for at least a year, with him losing at the Wrestlemania 2023.

Cody won the Royal Rumble in 2024, which meant he had a title shot at Wrestlemania against a champion of his choosing. The choice had to be Roman Reigns, the top champ. But before he officially made his choice, ol' Dwayne appeared on the scene and made it all about him. He had the storyline changed so that he would be the one facing Roman at Mania. Cody was visibly unhappy delivering the promos surrounding it, and the fans saw straight through it. There was an immediate and extremely strong backlash, with the hashtag #WeWantCody being a big deal. Not too long after, things were changed around and Cody was again set to face Roman at Mania where he finished the story.

There is an hour long documentary on YouTube where Rock spouts absolute nonsense about how he wants to do what's best for fans etc, which many people don't believe a single word of. We're in the run up to Mania again and Rock is about to return. Chances are he's going to insert himself in again.

Video on all of this with a better memory than I have:
