EA execs earned $60 million in 2024 despite layoffs and office closures

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

CEO Andrew Wilson received almost half of that total.

U.S. publisher EA has revealed how much its executives netted during FY2024, a 12-month period that saw it deliver annual net bookings of $7.43 billion but also cut 5 percent of its global workforce.

As noted in the company's annual Proxy Statement, which details its executive compensation plan, EA's named executive officers collectively earned over $60 million during the last fiscal year. That total includes individual base salaries, stock awards, and incentive plan compensation.

The biggest earner was EA CEO Andrew Wilson, who took home over $25.6 million after helping the company execute on "key strategic and operating objectives" such as restructuring the business around the new-look EA Sports and EA Entertainment pillars and launching the EA Sports FC brand.

Wilson was also lauded for overseeing "a year of continued employee satisfaction scores above industry benchmarks" and strategically aligning studio leadership to "support franchise development and success."

Writes a lot, says very little
They made more money, Executives made more money cause they executed plans that worked and made even more money by lay offs of 5%

So....that math is mathing lol

Before anyone jumps on the classic EA hate bandwagon, maybe some of you should consider some of ya'll um "media darlings" do the same shit, they just have a nice PR bullshit statement to make it sound like they are not like dem other guys lol

EA probably should have just released a series of fake PR statements and platitudes and shit lol

They should have said "Dead Space has no MTX or Multiplayer, we leave that to other scum publishers" (disregard what you do else where and make it sound like you've changed) lol

"Star Wars Fallen Order 2? No DLC or MP, leave that disgusting mess to the likes of UBiSOFT!" lol

If the whole say one thing and do another thing works for some shit publishers, maybe EA should start saying this fake ass shit, seems to be working for CDPR and others pretty fine tbh

The day they layed off 5%, they should have been like "Dragon Age will NOT HAVE MP, that is unbecoming of a single player game and EA as a company respects the wishes of their developers, shouldn't all companies?"

I worry that these execs aren't rich enough and so I hope more people will buy EA Sports FC this year and spend their hard earned money (or their parents hard earned money) on the virtual slot machine player packs. Then the execs can afford sending their kids to the best private schools and be able to purchase the latest model of the best cars. ❤️

Disgusting really. The whole corporate management structure is so fucked up and way too often a perfect breeding ground for unbelievably greedy, emotionally as well as morally rotten people, who happend to disguise themselves as businessmen. Unfortunately, this is what decades of unhinged capitalism brought us.

Execs get big bonuses for slashing costs short term.

Remember the good old days of gaming, with one guy coding the whole game in his bedroom.

Nlow look it. How do these people sleep at night, 25 million for doing what exactly, apart from getting rid of studios and staff🤮🤮🤮Make me sick.

It is pretty messed up honestly. Share holders seem fine with it all as long as they get their short term roi.

The funny thing is, you can’t really quantify the value of a CEO because nobody knows the alternative history outcome.

Sure, you can manage to get an “acceptable” ROI by doing very basic executive fuckery tactics. This isn’t rocket science.

In many cases the business could be so much better if they focused more on quality, less on DEI, and stuck to what truly matters. But that alternate reality doesn’t exist.

These executives all use the same groupthink playbook; why does this deserve outsized compensation?

Truly strategic and visionary gaming CEOs are rare and actually earn their keep. Nintendo does a great job of not overly emphasizing the contributions of a single person

As a gamer, you gotta start asking yourself if people like Wilson even deserve it.

I really miss the time when gaming execs were engineers and creators who placed priority on the creativity and inventiveness of their games first. For the most part, EA ain't that company.

And yet, idiot gamers will keep buying EA games, and preordering, and defending massive corporations, and defending CEOs, and whining about the quality of games, even though they’re still buying the shit these cunts spew out.

In this very thread people are excusing, or defending, or saying it’s not that bad…
