I mean leaving aside a select few in this industry the whole "gaming journalism" is just people with literature/arts degrees writing blog posts about games as they aren't good enough to write scripts for Hollywood. No wonder when Disco Elysium released, the writing in that game was so good, like ridiculously fragrant, these gaming journalists in disguise jizzed themselves over and over again.

btw, Disco Elysium imo is pretentious drivel, a vanity art-piece, made with skill and mastery, so good that shouldn't be clubbed with games as these shelves also have Dragon Age: Veilguard, Spiderman 2, GoW Ragnorok and Days Gone. The writing and delivery in Disco Elysium is superior to any game I have played and I hate it as it should have been a book not a game.

One side is scared shitless and always eager to hype up content like grifters. The other side doesn't give a shit.

Put it this way. I think RT considers the movie fresh if it get an above avg score. Then it gets combined with the bad reviews to get that overall tomatometer rating.

If video games used the same methodology, probably 98% of games would get a fresh rating since almost all games get rated on the 6-10 scale.

But we can still see the shift in gaming scores to almost all 6-10. Back in the 80s and 90s, game mags grilled games no problem with terrible scores. A 6-10 scale to me means every game in this range is above avg which is definitely not true. So few games get scored lower than 5/10 theres not even a point most of the time.

In movies they usually use 4 or 5 star ratings for their reviews. But probably no movie critic uses their scale giving out minimum 2/4 or 3/5 stars like gaming sites giving mostly 6-10/10.

Movie reviews stayed true to bad and good scores like nothing changed.
