While I still wouldn't agree with putting 3R above anything else in the mainline series, I'd at least respect your opinion if you hadn't have included 7 in that.

maybe it's my jill bias. RE7 is for sure a great game, first person sucks though. if RE7 was a RE2R style game in third person with a classic RE character as the protag it would have been better than RE3R. village is complete garbage though, i don't even know why i liked that game the first time i played it. everytime i try to replay it i lose interest. even the mercenaries mode is ass.

I want something different from RE. I want a big, bombastic, over the top action affair. It doesn't have to be a mainline numbered entry; it can be a side project for popcorn clicks until the next mainline entry releases. Then again, I loved 1-3 and stopped caring once 4 came out. Yes, heresy, I know, but 4 turned me off early and killed most of my interest in the RE series. I know that I should maybe try the remaster and see how that goes.

Don’t care what they change to make it happen, it needs to happen. And it should be a full reimagining of RE 5 Gold Edition with the Jill/Chris mansion prologue content and separate Sheva content.

That, Code Veronica, and 6. If they nail all 3 then they can have a complete series of games with better level design, better combat, and potentially fixes/better storytelling, especially CV and 6.

They have a chance at full brand synergy here and I’m all for it.

Funny, REmake 1 is one of my all-time favourite games so I don't think I'm biased towards newer ones and yet I'd put RE7 well above any other RE game apart from 1. And the 1st person was the best part about it, exploring the mansion in first person is some of the best horror I've experienced in gaming.

That's fair enough - my own bias is against 3R because of 3. It's a shame there's not a 3rd person mode in 7 just to give people the option.

I enjoy 8 for what it is, but past a certain point it didn't feel like I was playing RE. I hope they steer back towards more traditional RE, but if we're looking at anything near BSAA vs Chris we could be looking at 6 v2, and I really don't want that.

Oh LMAO no…7/8 were a return to form for the series, brought back the atmosphere and tension. 7 especially did a fantastic job of making the series a ‘horror’ series again after the hollywoodised 4-5-6…
And complaining about nothing but shooting in the 8 finale while saying RE3R is better? LMFAO did you not play the pathetic Hospital section? Hell the entire game is a shooting gallery…Literally no redeeming qualities in RE3R besides it starring Jill.

Release? Nope. Game awards last year were the time plus capcom is very aware this year has some serious shit coming out to be worried about for revenue blockers:

GTA6
Nintendo switch 2

Both of these things will be black holes for income for other products around their time frame.

Best to polish up RE9 for an early 2026 release.
