ToLoveRu Darkness
Director: Atsushi Ootsuki
Studio: Xebec
Site: http://www.j-toloveru.com/
Its ToLoveRu, that cesspool of manic fanservice, the quagmire of loose morals, stripped of any petty concerns like storytelling and quality, single-handedly responsible for declining birth-rates in Japan and the mental corruption of males worldwide. ToLoveRu Darkness was the spinoff-cum-sequel of the original manga, deviously born out of both shamelessness and rage, the product of a maddened cuckold furious at having drawn 2-D panties for a living even as another man lowered those of his wife. This is the anime for those without shame, for those who have fallen so low there is no turning back.
---
----------
From the New World
Director: Masashi Ishihama
Studio: A-1 Pictures
Site: http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/shinsekaiyori/
Trailers: PV 2, PV 3 (watch these!)
hosannainexcelsis: Hot stuff. An adaptation of a Nihon SF Taisho Award-winning novel. Intriuging premise set in a unique post-apocalyptic world. Strong visual design and excellent production values. A skilled animator making his full directorial debut and bringing a host of talent along with him. If you check out one show this season, make it this one.
----------
Magi
Director: Koji Masunari
Studio: A-1 Pictures
Site: http://www.project-magi.com/
The manga this is based on is excellent stuff, full of great adventure and comedy. The characters are likable, the action is good, and the world is consistently expanding, all tied together with great pacing and intersticed with Shinobu Ohtakas humor. What weve seen of it animated has been pretty good (all twenty seconds of it) and the designs are appealing, at least in motion when you can ignore the rice bowl mouths. The director is probably known best for his work on the Read Or Die series; Hiroyuki Yoshino, the master behind Guilty Crown/Qwaser/My-HiME, is handling the writing.
---
----------
Gothicmade (movie)
Director: Mamoru Nagano
Site: http://gothicmade.com/
Yes, the same Gothicmade from the noted animator, mecha designer, and author of the minutiae-packed, obsessively detailed Five Star Stories, Mamoru Nagano. Its been years in the making, announced back in 2006 only to disappear for years at a time, resurfacing now and then to tease, to titillate; a quick search online will show years of posts from forgotten posters on dead forums making the same proclamation, its coming, its coming, its coming, a trail of digital echoes reverberating years back into the past. Supposedly its coming out at last; the stars have aligned and all we can do now is to wait. Should be lovely, featuring mecha whose designs are fantastically elegant and probably a terrible fucking pain to animate.
---
----------
Psycho-Pass
Chief Director: Katsuyuki Motohiro
Director: Naoyoshi Shiotani
Studio: Production IG
Site: http://psycho-pass.com/
duckroll: Dystopian future scifi police thriller. Gen Urobuchi. Production IG. Is this real life? An actual original scifi anime with adult characters, a potential for solid gun action, cloudy character motivations, and an Orwellian system just waiting to fall apart? Sign me up!
---
----------
Robotics;Notes
Director: Kazuya Nomura
Studio: Production I.G.
Site: http://roboticsnotes.tv/
I dont know much about the VN that it is based on, other than its relations to the other semi;colon abusing series in 5pbs science adventure lineup. I like the directors previous efforts, and the designs/production are appealing as well, far moreso than White Foxs effort on Steins;Gate. Its set to run through both Fall and Winter on the noitaminA timeslot, along with the other Production I.G. show of the season, Psycho-Pass.
---
----------
JoJo's Bizzare Adventure
Director: Kenichi Suzuki (SD Gundam) and Naokatsu Tsuda (Inu x Boku SS)
Studio: David Production
Site: http://wwws.warnerbros.co.jp/jojo-animation/
cosmicblizzard: You guys remember when anime was synonymous with MANLINESS? Well guess what's back! The motherfucking JoJos! The only thing more important to these guys than being manly is being fabulous. You want action? You got it! You want vampires? Screw that Twilight shit, you got that too! You want flamboyant poses from legit threatening characters? That's another check! Come and join the Joestars as they finally get a chance to shine in a 20 years overdue animation.

----------
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! - or, Regardless of My Adolescent Delusions of Grandeur, I Want a Date!
Director: Ishihara Tatsuya
Studio: Kyoto Animation
Site: http://www.anime-chu-2.com/
Based on a light novel submitted to one of their contests that no one actually wins (but then, I suppose this particular novel won in the end, considering it was published and now it stands some chance at success via association with what will presumably be a popular show), it burned my eyes and now I am clinically blind. I write this with the assistance of a capable seeing-eye dog.
---
----------
Nerawareta Gakuen (movie)
Director: Ryosuke Nakamura
Studio: Sunrise
Site: http://www.neragaku.com/
Ryosuke Nakamura, noted for his work on Mouryou no Hako among others, is helming this new take on the childrens novel by Taku Mayumura. Its apparently a well-known franchise in Japan with several different adaptations of it throughout the past few decades; unfortunately I had never heard of it before the announcement of the anime, and thus is unable to offer any real perspective on just what it might be about, outside of the synopsis provided by the SLA site for its international premiere in Scotland. The premise seems amusing enough and the PVs were promising.
---
----------
Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb
Director: Akiyuki Shinbo
Studio: SHAFT
Site: http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/hidamari/index-j.html
Ultimadrago: Hidamari Sketch is a warm slice-of-life series that makes for a relaxing watch no matter how my day is going. The characters are largely simple, but have reflective moments that serve as a thicker dimension for them. The art direction is colorful, charming and at times really neat. For an anime to watch with a snack nearby along with time to ease from daily responsibilities and stressors, Hidamari Sketch's comfortable fluffy arms of "Wideface" is the place to rest.
---
----------
Zetsuen no Tempest
Director: Masahiro Ando
Studio: BONES
Site: http://www.zetsuen.net/
duckroll: Okay, full disclosure - This is based on a manga that is really bad. Not ha-ha bad, but just plain bad. It's convoluted, too "smart" for its own good, and the pacing is terrible. But have no fear, the anime staff will save the day! Maybe! Masahiro Ando, director of Sword of the Stranger and Hanasaku Iroha, reunites with studio BONES to attempt to salvage the source material into something exciting and watchable, aided by Michiru Oshima's (Fullmetal Alchemist, Xam'd) classical score performed by an 80-member strong orchestra. At the very least, this should look and sound great!
---
----------
Gintama' Overdrive
Director: Yoichi Fujita
Studio: Sunrise
Site: http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/gintama/
hosannainexcelsis: It's back, baby! Expect more delicious trolling and badass loser samurai in the best comedy on television.
---
----------
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
Director: Hiro Kaburaki
Studio: Brains Base
Site: http://www.tk-anime.info/
Trailer: PV
hosannainexcelsis: The manga is a fun romantic comedy, with emphasis on the comedy, featuring a cast of lovable, eccentric social misfits. The staff are solid and seem invested in the show, considering they put out a creative, well-produced trailer with all original material. Should be an enjoyable watch.

Kyousogiga
Director: Rie Matsumoto
Studio:Toei
Site: http://www.kyousogiga.com/

---
----------
Fuse: A Gun Girls Detective Story (movie)
Director: Masayaki Miyaji
Studio: TMS Entertainment
Site: fuse-anime.jp
I guess its some ex Bones staff (Miyaji directed Xamd, among others here) working on this movie, which even kinda sounds like Xamd, with the dog-human hybrids and such. I hope the shorter runtime of a movie gives him the kind of restraint needed to tell a story without it falling apart.
---
----------
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
Director: Atsuko Ishizaka
Studio: J.C. Staff
Site: sakurasou.tv
The Pet Girl of Sakurasou kinda sounds like a porn in the making.
Its some kinda fanservice anime about a girl whos kinda not there and the boy who becomes her master. Or something. Mari Okada, the woman who saved noitaminA with her efforts on Ano Hana, is working on this. Shes notable for being pretty fucking terrible at her job, so Im confident that this will be a good show.
---
----------
Btooom!
Director: Kotono Watanabe
Studio: Madhouse
Site: http://btooom.com/
I remember feeling pretty jelly that Kirito got all the girls with his MMO grinding skills in SAO. It was something I found hard to relate to; I knew my DKP, nowhere near as good as my KDR, would never get me a perfect life partner like Asuna.
Then Btooom! came along, a show for high KDR individuals like me. Now I too can go to sleep while cradling my Asuna pillow.
---
----------
Girls und Panzer
Director: Tsutomu Mizushima
Studio: Actas
Site: http://girls-und-panzer.jp/
Its a show about cute girls doing cute things, with a fair bit of tank-related jargon being tossed around. Theres also a bit of tanks doing tank things and explosions and tanks sitting there looking like tanks; some good potential for action, along with the kind of physical comedy that Mr. Mizushima does well with. (See: Blood-C; Joshiraku; Azazel-san; etc) Tank porn and cute girls--cant go wrong, right?

From the New World
Director: Masashi Ishihama
Studio: A-1 Pictures

Trailers: PV 2, PV 3 (watch these!)
The story is set in Japan a millennium from now. Five children - Saki, Satoru, Maria, Mamoru, and Shun have been born and raised in a tranquil town that can be described as a utopia, overflowing with water and green foilage. The world is ruled by people who have the "cursed power" or "gods' power" of telekinesis. After a certain incident, Saki and the others come to realize the true nature of their world. Before long, they learn everything, including the bloody history that brought humanity to this state. The five throw themselves into life-threatening adventure, fighting to protect friends and a world on the brink of collapse.

Psycho-Pass
Chief Director: Katsuyuki Motohiro
Director: Naoyoshi Shiotani
Studio: Production IG
Site: http://psycho-pass.com/
In a future with the technology to scan and analyze the psychology and personality of a person in an instant, the worth of one's soul is measured and recorded as a systemetic set of values - that is a person's 'Psycho-Pass'.
To protect and uphold the illusion of a utopian society, the Ministry of Welfare's Public Safety Bureau employs this system against those who are deemed by the system to have a high criminality coefficient, and locks them away.
To fight actual crime that slips through the cracks, those potential criminals found suitable are offered positions as crime enforcement officers instead - after all it takes a mind capable of understanding a criminal to catch one. Executive intendants are chosen from the elites of society to monitor and lead these officers - the system's leash on these necessary but untrustworthy hounds.
This is the story of the men and women of the Criminal Investigation Department, and their pursuit of justice...
