Sony has closed the servers for MotorStorm but a team of dedicated fans has found a workaround so that you can, once again, play it online.
Not only that, but PC gamers can use the Playstation 3 emulator, RPCS3, in order to join the fun.

As the PSONE team stated:
"Welcome back to the trail Motorstorm fans, drive, taunt, slap, and punch your way to victory in this unique fan-favorite PlayStation 3 title again available in 2021 to play online through PlayStation Online Network Emulated servers DNS, available to play now on PS3 & RPCS3."

PSONE or PlayStation online emulated is a team dedicated to reviving certain Sony games that uses Sony’s Medius server.
PSONE currently supports numerous PS3 games. By using it, players can enjoy Warhawk, Socom Confrontation, Killzone 2 and Twisted Metal Black.

In order to use PSONE, you’ll need a copy of Motorstorm, a PlayStation 3 or RPCS3, a PlayStation Network Account, and an active internet connection (to connect to PSONE DNS Servers).
Then, you’ll have to use 185.194.142.4 as your Primary DNS and 8.8.8.8 (or 1.1.1.1) as your Secondary DNS.

• PSONE DNS: 185.194.142.4
• Getting started guide: https://www.psone.online/getting-started

Have fun!

I really, REALY want to MotorStorm Apocalypse get remastered, I LOVED that game, it was my favourite arcade racer of all time.
All three were great in different ways. The original is still my favorite, especially with the expansion tracks. Pacific storm was a good evolution on the series and apocalypse had awesome set pieces. All were fun arcade racers that I hope we get more of some day. I know evolution was shut down but the IP shouldn’t die.

What I love about Apocalypse was as we were racing the world was just falling a part, so the actual map was as much of obstacles as other racers.....GOD I LOVED IT!!!!

This only make me sad because it reminds me of the closure of the studio, might be one of the biggest losses the industry has seen, the game still looks great 15 years later.

They did this for Warhawk and SOCOM confrontation too. Games didn’t age well but still cool nonetheless
Agree to disagree. I think that gen aged well. I honestly would've settled for this visual fidelity as base for future gens.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Imagine what a Motorstorm 2: Pacific Rift would look like if it got remade on the PS5.

Or you know what, fuck the remakes - just imagine a new Motorstorm on the PS5 that takes the style back to the og (MS1 or MS2).

Those offroad races in Forza Horizon capture that Motorstorm feel a little bit. Without nitro and explosions ofcourse.

Explode yourself in front of the finish line! Pacific Rift is great and I reckon it would look excellent when upgraded.

this is what sold me on HD gaming,.
that and the intro of casino royale.

It's the PERFECT game to showcase the DualSense and Sony is nowhere to announce a reboot/remake/new! WHY?
The thing about Evolution's closure and that you forgot to mention is that most of their games around that time were flops...and not just because Sony didn't market them very well. They also didn't review well.
But let's go back for a bit: The first Motorstorm was marketed quite well by Sony. I remember the game being well promoted everywhere, critics liked it and it still couldn't sell much. Sony still saw potential in the series and a 2nd one was made. It only sold a fraction of the first one and wasn't reviewed as well. Did they spend much money promoting it? No...but i mean, did that work with the first entry already? So instead of better sales and critical response...things went the other day. They STILL allowed them to make a 3rd game that not only saw an even bigger sales decline but also critics weren't that happy with it. The series was going in a decline since the first entry basically, not just commercially but critically as well.

Sony was still patient with them and allowed them to actually create a new IP from scratch: Driveclub. At this point most publishers would be done with the studio...but that didn't happen here. Still, Driveclub needed multiple delays, and even after getting released, most of its feats were added later. The game was a flop both critically and commercially on release. Sony still allowed the team to release everything they wanted for it to try and reverse course. At that point how long since Evo had an actual hit in their hands?

Forza was always bigger than Driveclub in every metric. Including critics. Driveclub's release was a mess. Probably one of the biggest ones for Sony. To try and revive the series would take years, if ever. Add to that the fact the years prior the same studio was already flopping for a while...

Saying Sony gave up on Evo studios "at the first sign of trouble" is just wrong though.

They were crazy talented and probably the Sony closure that hurts the most to me...but it's not that weird it happened. I'm not even sure the first Motorstorm broke-even after marketing costs, let alone the 2nd and 3rd entry. By the time their new IP flopped, Sony was done with them.
Personally I played the demo for Apocalypse over and over again. Didn’t buy it bc limited budget for games and racers aren’t my thing. But if I ever bought one, that would be it.

This. No remakes. A PR 2 on ps5. Sony, make it happen.

Good game but not as good as the 2nd game, 3rd was pointless
100% agreed. I absolutely loved Pacific Rift, fantastic title, had tons of fun playing splitscreen with buddies and would love to have this game remastered or remake (with Arctic Edge, please). Never liked the third title =/

Same the 3rd title was just weird it felt to much like the first game but just didnt have the edge on 1 and 2, also the design of it was very bland compared to the 2nd game which was colourful as anythig

Very cool, Motorstorm has such a great sense of scale. Driving off a plateau when it first released made my stomach drop, lol. Great sense of speed too, the game is just super chaotic in the best possible way.

I can't help but think of the load times though, absolutely atrocious but the gameplay is divine.

God that just reminds me of how amazing the first Motorstorm really was. The other 2 were good but not on the level of the first gameplay wise.

There are five Motorstorm games.
I'll show myself out.

Yeah I loved the Hurricane level and the earthquake and how they caused the levels to evolve and change so you had to adapt each lap to new paths.

I havent played the series even though it was literally made for me.
Burnout 3: Takedown was the last racing game I enjoyed.
