This game is like the opposite of Tears of the Kingdom in a lot of ways, and I’m really enjoying both.
Easily the best two games of the generation and it isn't even a competition.

I moved the brightness down to 4, just a matter of preference. Btw now that I recalibrated ps5 hdr settings with 11 11 0 clicks looks marvellousI wouldn't touch the in-game slider. it's just classic brightness...youtubers use it when someone says "too dark" or when they have monitors badly calibrated lol.
The game just looks this way. I am personally playing with DTM and ps5 calibration also done with DTM(I know, blasphemy). Everything is brighter.
The orignal look with hgig calibration and using hgig is more toned down but effects and spells do pop more like that. Everything is just a bit too dark aside from spells.
the gamingtech guy does some good work but he always touches the sliders. If there are sliders, he will mess with them needlessly without understanding that maybe the game is made to look this way. Lowering slider to 2 and enabling dtm or other means to achieve more contrasts will make some scenes look good but ruin others.
It's what i distilled mostly from the vibe, us Oceanics got a special radar on these things: big mana. Not at all what he presented in the video.
Same here. System software update.. probably a patch update and the disc install.Booting it up now. Games take forever to copy over from a disc on the PS5.
you and me both, that’s why V and XII place at the top 2 for me. Both of these games introduced an impeccable job system or gameplay philosophy compared to the rest of the series.
EPIC. Absolute epic (in the Greek sense) the Eikons are.
Typhon in the flesh from a black hole once the Crystal shatters. Just like FF.
Final form Typhon is sexy af.
What is 11 11 0 clicks with ps5 hdr setting : D?I moved the brightness down to 4, just a matter of preference. Btw now that I recalibrated ps5 hdr settings with 11 11 0 clicks looks marvellous
Back to the game just wow, this one is full of those classic FF franchise moments. Peaking actually!
There’s an HDR bug in the game apparently and while is true FF16 uses ps5 system setting to output HDR it doesn’t do it properly so the usual setting doesn’t go well here. This one explains it very quickly at the beginning but it’s tricky and it’s based on your tv model the amount of clicks to be done. And again it applies only to ff16 for all the other games you have to revert to the proper setup. Might be patched too eventually. What is 11 11 0 clicks with ps5 hdr setting : D?

I don’t play with DTM but HGIG and it seems to pop up a bit more now than before without going to the exaggerating of DTM. But we’re really talking of nitpicking here nothing substantial really. Game is fine regardless of the settings. There is absolutely no difference between 11 and 14 clicks. It only affects highlights and at least lg tvs can handle mapping 4000 nits. That’s what dtm is for.
In fact this might not even be a bug. The nits in this game mostly only affects particle effects and light sources. 14 being more than in system settings might just be to add a tiny bit more pop.
I controversially play with dtm and I calibrated with dtm in system settings
Yeah as I’ve said earlier. Dtm pops the whole image more, hgig keeps the image relatively dim but really pops the effects. So it’s a preference.I don’t play with DTM but HGIG and it seems to pop up a bit more now than before without going to the exaggerating of DTM. People have eaten horses since the dawn of timeFound a reference to “chocobo stew”. Thats disgusting. Aren’t they supposed to be the equivalent of horses? Oh god.
Yup. 30fps gets a bad rap. This game does it very well. At first I was ready to kick and scream about the motion blur, but then my brain allowed me to get used to it, and now it’s very much welcomed.Btw. This is my new game to champion 30fps. It was uncharted 4 before and even bloodborne despite some stutter.
This game is stable 30, no framepacing stutters and still got a very low input lag. Perfection. Compare it to demons souls 30fps mode and it feels like demons souls got a whole second of delay. Here it’s all instant.
That and fantastic motion blur quality. Yeah a bit heavy but I like it. It looks especially insane on the enemy turtles spinning or the big hammer guys swinging. The per object motion blur is the best since lost planet.
I realised yesterday after whole day session, 2am… I couldn’t see 30fps judder even when I wanted. I got used to it and it’s not been so easy this gen or possible due to terrible 30 input lag and no motion blur.
Again, of course 60 would be way smoother if I switched now but my brain and eyes got so accommodated to 30 in this game, it looks perfectly fine.
People really don’t give their brains enough of a credit. I once went from 240hz 1080p to 4k30 and even then I Was able to get used to it without noticing jarring 30. Just give it a good chance.
The actual titan fight in the cave and everything that follows, I'm just, no words. That is the most epic thing in a game ever. So far. This is the first game in a long time where I feel like it just couldn't be done on last gen machines. That includes everything from the graphics to the ridiculous set pieces.Holy FUCK the fight against Clive’s shadow was EPIC as fuck!
People ate horses, when they had to.Found a reference to “chocobo stew”. Thats disgusting. Aren’t they supposed to be the equivalent of horses? Oh god.
There is gonna be a sidequest you're going to want to do involving hunts (when they unlock, you'll know) and the Blacksmith.I am not planning to do any side quests, but I do want to max out gear/abilities to achieve max power before finishing. Are for example any superweapons tied behind side quests?
Thank you! There is gonna be a sidequest you're going to want to do involving hunts (when they unlock, you'll know) and the Blacksmith.
No spoilers, this is what I meant when I was talking about the world interaction with spells.

I found the same reference last night and was surprised only because chocobos are beloved in FF games. It'd be like finding Pikachu Stew in a Pokemon game.Found a reference to “chocobo stew”. Thats disgusting. Aren’t they supposed to be the equivalent of horses? Oh god.
On big enemies you cant lift put a lightning rod down then drop a tornado on them. Massive damage and instant stagger.Damn that looks great, I should unlock that ability.
Keep playing bro these questions will be answered by the time you reach 3/4 length of the story. This stuff is confusing on purpose. The world the characters the story and ofcourse Clive as the main character are all top notch. I am still unsure of a few things that happened but alot happened till the final fantasy logo appeared. Now I'm at the hideaway and I have alot to digest and a few things to figure out.
Early on spoilers, if anyone can help me understand it would be highly appreciated.
Is Clive's mother real mother to Joshua and step mother to Clive, Or is she just a proper bitch?
Im still unsure wtf I just witnessed, the second Eikon that kills Joshua/Phoenix came from Clive? It certainly felt that way but I'm not sure. If the second Eikon was indeed Clive, did he possess his body or did Clive transform into something?
Clive's mother Annabelle is the one who defected the duchy helped penetrate the army? Wtf is a holy empire? Why did she kill her own husband and favorite son. Am I supposed to be confused about this or am I just dumb/not paying attention?
Clive’s mother only cares about that her bloodline that can produce dominance and she saw Clive as failure and embarrassment for her bloodline because Phoenix rejected himThe world the characters the story and ofcourse Clive as the main character are all top notch. I don’t think there is any “bug”. It just sounds like some people are not calibrating properly. You don’t need a 7 minute YouTube video to explain it or to consult a chart. On the PS5 HDR calibration, you should adjust until the icon disappears, then click it one step back, so it reappears. The on-screen instructions are misleading. There’s an HDR bug in the game apparently and while is true FF16 uses ps5 system setting to output HDR it doesn’t do it properly so the usual setting doesn’t go well here.
Yes they are meant as difficulty adjustments. I do use the one that makes Torgal automatically do stuff so I don’t have to order him around. Is there anyone else not using any charms/trinkets? I’m a little confused with them tbh - I’m not sure if they are all meant to be ‘easy mode’ or just the initial ones you start the game with. I’m doing okay without any so far, but what’s the general consensus?

It makes the combat much easier though because a well timed charge of the dog can cancel « unescapable grab » attacks from bosses which do massive damage. And it does it very often when you put the dog ring onI've never taken the Ring of Do It Yourself Torgal off since I put it on. I originally only put it on because I didn't want to deal with micromanaging him during combat but yes he automatically has perfect timing Sics and Ravages, much better than a human probably could with the default control mapping. Against bosses it's just a bit more DPS really, as you are doing 90%+ of the breaking yourself at worst. Against small enemies it's fun when he launches them and you follow with Phoenix Shift to air combo them.
