BEAUTY&SEXY
I don't think you're going to find a very receptive audience for this here, but I did find this pretty interesting:

the [official Ocarina of Time N64] emulator itself came with a list of games that Nintendo built in, which I assume they wanted the thing to be compatible with. Those games are:

* Animal Forest
* Cruise'n USA
* Dr. Mario
* Legend of Zelda
* Mario 64
* Mario Kart
* Mario Party 1
* Mario Party 2
* Mario Party 3
* Panel de
* PaperMario
* Pilotwings
* Pokemon Stadium
* Starfox
* YoshiStory
* Zelda: Ocarina of Time

I really wish Nintendo came out with GC versions of StarFox 64, Super Mario 64, Paper Mario, etc. I really enjoyed those games but don't own them anymore; plus its a hassle trying to bust the N64 out. :(

Okay...I'd REALLY like them to do a Paper Mario 2 Bonus Disc...if they actually have it emulated in some form already, it seems like an obvious step.

I honestly do wish Nintendo would take advantage of that emulator then... I am so much more likely to play Zelda on my GameCube just because the graphics are a lot cleaner. N64 video output is absolutely awful on my HDTV.

Too bad, because Paper Mario didn't get enough exposure or sales; I believe it sold less than a million worldwide. :(

Maybe to spike sales in October, since it isn't a normally large Christmas selling season and you won't get the parents in to buy the game for their kids so early, perhaps it makes sense to release a pre-order bonus disc. It's a game that not many have played, and they can use it to their advantage to gain a lot of sales for the title. I'd like to see something along the same lines for Star Fox as well, the reason being that the title might get lost.

They seem to be putting the MP Bundle out there to help promote MP:E, and maybe to promote Star Fox they could offer the same type of bonus. In a season where many games will get lost in the shuffle, such pre-order policies can help distinguish games.

^Yes, I agree. I think a StarFox Adventures bundle is in order to help promote StarFox 2. Despite the two games being loosely related, I think it all makes sense. Nintendo has to use a bundle though; vanilla GCs are unacceptable with the Metroid bundle around.

StarFox Adventures Bundle? Do you WANT the game to sell poorly? Although not bad as a free giveaway, the game has problems. I was thinking more along the lines of SF64.

Despite the hate on THESE forums, the game is selling pretty well each month and I personally love it. Star Fox 64 would be good, but Adventures would make more financial sense.

And for a $10 deposit, they'll leave Adventures off the disc!
SOLD!

(Anyway there is something to be said for completism, even if the games suck. I mean, they put Mega Man 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and both Power Battle games on MMAC.)

Hey! Don't talk about Mega Man 4 that way!

Alrighty! Finally finished the GAF-Edition guide and updated it. Sorry for the early post. Hope some people find this interesting :)

a cool hack, but it doesn't seem compelling enough to devote the effort of finding those pieces of hardware/software for it. :/

There are lot of neat things though for the people that do own all of the things. There is even a program out that runs KDE on your Cube, making it into a Linux based webserver that you can access with your computer :D

EDIT: Bah, we can still talk specifics about it. Such as how nearly none of the N64 games listed in the emulator itself actually work with the thing. Or how the NES emulator inside of Animal Crossing is way more advanced than the one inside of The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition disk.

*hugs his BBA / PSO1+2*

This is how I've been able to preview Pikmin 2 before the US version get's released ;)

I know what you are probably all thinking about this thing (Arrr!)

But actually, this exploit has lead me to purchasing more games than I otherwise would have as well as opens up the possibility of playing games that would not be available locally. I was dubious on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles but have since bought the game after trying it out with friends over this method.

What people need to understand is that playing ROMs from your computer through the GameCube (the only method possible right now), simply doesn't work well enough to enjoy a game. The gameplay is usually smooth, but the music skips violently or is just so bad you need to mute it, it takes forever to load through FMVs (if the game ever loads), and just causes a lot of waiting.

It barely gives you a taste of what some games are like, but its still nice having backup copies of all your games. With the ROM sizes, it wouldn't be worth your time downloading them to be honest.

Too bad PSO:Episode I and II are currently going for upwards of $60 on eBay. Anyone have any idea where I can get it for a reasonably decent price?

NES and N64 Compatibility:
The emulators from Nintendo work nearly perfectly, however, they are only compatible to an extent. Recently, the NES emulator built inside of Animal Crossing for the GameCube has been hacked and functions well with most games under 256k in size. The NES emulator built into The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition for the GameCube however, has far less compatability. Its limited to games using mapper #1 and roms under 256k in size. As for the N64, the emulator itself came with a list of games that Nintendo built in, which I assume they wanted the thing to be compatible with. Those games are:

*Animal Forest
*Cruise'n USA
*Dr. Mario
*Legend of Zelda
*Mario 64
*Mario Kart
*Mario Party 1
*Mario Party 2
*Mario Party 3
*Panel de
*PaperMario
*Pilotwings
*Pokemon Stadium
*Starfox
*YoshiStory
*Zelda: Ocarina of Time
just wanted to point out that this list is not anywhere near close to being accurate :D

OH, and you didn't mention the awesome homebrew memory card utility GCS that will back up and write saves on nintendo brand memory cards

I'm realitively sure PSO Episode III: C.A.R.D Revolution will work as well.

No, PSO3 doesnt work with either PSOLoad or PSUL. Also these loaders were created for home brew not piracy, you can get devkitPPC R7, a legal build environment + sdk (supporting 3d, bba, etc), from www.devkit.tk

... anyway Max Drive Pro will probably make PSO unnessecary

i have heard that it works, but you have to do alot more work because you can't use a LAN IP (192.168.x.x) and have to instead use a WAN IP which makes it a pain to be able to set up...

Yeah PSO3 wont accept a lan ip... so what? Both loaders need to be updated with the specific location of the patching function before PSO3 will work

Not sure why you thought this was acceptable to post here, but it is NOT.

E. Emulation/Piracy

The topics of emulation and piracy, including the technical nature of emulators and ROM images, hardware modification technology, as well as their effect on the industry as a political topic are deemed to be generally acceptable.

Linking to pirate download sites, directions on how to get pirated software to work, reviews or impressions of pirated software will all result in the banning of the user in question.
