It's a good thing we LIVE IN AMERICA AND HAVE A RIGHT TO OPINOINS.

YAY FREEDOMS!1!!

A review isnt just an opinion. Its like if you are judging art at a museum you cant say Exibit A sucks cause I dont like the style, you have to acknoledge regardless of what you like or dont like its still good art.

whatever, atleast sites like Gamespot have the balls to change their reviews when they know they are wrong (Shenmue, Savage, etc.)

That's really oversimplifying. Everything would get good reviews if you followed that mentality. "I don't like how this game is, but since other people may enjoy it I'll give it an A". Same with music and movie reviews.

That's why reviews are written. You're supposed to read them and pick out parts you do and don't agree with to inform your purchasing decision. The ending score can be twisted in a million ways if you ignore all of the context.

No I dont mean that. Cleary some games are crap and some arent, regardless of what you like.

For example, you can say chocolate icecream on a hot summer day taste like crap. Its your opinion, but you are still wrong.

Same goes for giving Ninja Gaiden a C- and calling it medicore. Its anything but medicore, infact it will be remembered as one of the greatest games ever.

Most PlayStation 2 owners should remember Square's similarly over hyped The Bouncer. I'd almost go as far as proclaiming Ninja Gaiden to be the Xbox equivalent.

AWESOME finish! I didn't know it was that bad...guess I'm gonna have to skip it.

...What? An opinion is, by definition, something that cannot be proven right or wrong.

Well, I think that in those cases, someone should acknowledge that perhaps something is done well, but just isn't for them. Like I don't like stealthy games like Splinter Cell, but I wouldn't run around saying they suck. It's just not my thing.

Yet, if I had to review the game, I'd probably still give it a low overall score because it's not for me. It's not my style of game and it would be obvious within the context of the review itself... not the actual score. If you just read the "C-", you're basically stuck thinking the guy dislikes the game for no logical reasons, which isn't necessarily true. I think it has become clear over the years that many reviewers wind up having to review titles they wouldn't be interested in in the first place... Which is another reason why it's good that there's multiple review sources lol.

Reviews are still heavily opinionated in the end. If you just want information on the game without any editorializing, that's what random hands-on impressions are for... in my opinion, anyway.

whatever, like i said Ninja Gaiden will be remembered as one of the best games ever and the guy that reviewed it from Gaming Age will be remembered as "that p*ssy that gave Ninja Gaiden a C-"

So are the museum police going to arrest anybody who doesn't 'acknoledge' the good art?

I hate people who say "whatever" as an answer to any argument. Despise even.

Except the gay picture guy. He makes me giggle.

1) Everyone is entitled to an opinion whether we agree or disagree

2) Thief: Dark Shadows is an awesome game and I don't see a problem with the rating

3) The Ninja Gaiden review has been beat to death already, so GA reviews are weaksauce gamers...big whoop. ;)

its funny how you cite GA as the reviewer.

we do have more than one person doing reviews you know.

This one made me laugh. :)

Too many people judge a review by its score without reading the actual text. I enjoyed NG, and while I wouldn't have given it a C-, I could totally see where the reviewer was coming from. The camera issues are bad enough to annoy some people to death, I can see people getting bored with the combat. No games are perfect, and I don't think there's a game on the market that appeals to everyone.

How did you all overlook this? Shame.

Anyway...BALLS!? Caving in to a bunch of asshats who can't accept that a game that causes them to change their pants might not actually be everybody's idea of jesus in digital form and changing the review to satisfy them is having balls?

How's that funny? Most people cite GameSpot/IGN/etc as the reviewer and not the actual person behind it. And that's probably how it should be. A site needs to be consistant regardless of who reviewed it. C- is "Gaming Age's" position on Ninja Gaiden...

Most amusing quote of the day.

Fight the good fight, Lukas! Ninja Gaiden will be remembered as ONE of the best gameS in 2004, for sure. And that Gaming-Age reviewer, Paul, will most likely never live down that C- review.

And you... Who Are You?

Haha, yeah man, you have your balls back when your review is changed to appease advertisers, or the rabid Sega fans.
