He lived a good life (95) and had a prolific career in Hollywood. He was nominated for 5 Oscars and won twice. Some notable movies in his acting career were Hoosiers, Unforgiven, The Quick and the Dead, Superman, The French Connection, The Firm, Crimson Tide, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Replacements, and countless others. He was a great actor. Rest in Peace.

I'm picking my feet in Poughkeepsie over this one.

Genuinely gutted. An actor whose performances I enjoyed and admired my whole life. So versatile. Very sorry about the family as well.

Awful. Gene Hackman was tremendous and his skill was a gift for the rest of us. Was just thinking about him a day or two ago as my friend told me he didn't know he was in Superman.
 
Gene Hackman was an amazing actor. His most underrated performance that doesn't get talked about as often, is his hilarious cameo as the blind man in Young Frankenstein. It proved he could play anything. Comedy. Action. Drama. Incredibly versatile actor. Rest in peace 🕊

It's one thing to be good at acting, it's another altogether to have his aura and onscreen presence.

The police didn't believe that foul play was a factor. We already know it wasn't natural causes and if there was no foul play involved this wasn't a suicide pact. A gas leak would explain both the husband and wife and the dog dying at the same time.

Besides that, this is a loss to Hollywood. The man was a force of nature from the late sixties up to the nineties,
 
Article says the police don't suspect foul play, but it sure is odd they'd both go at the same time like that, in their home together.

Suicide. The guy was 95, the wide probably couldn't imagine her life without him.
 
Did some amazing work. Weird that his wife and his dog also died, makes you think some kind of gas leak or something.

I never followed his career aside from remembering him in movies off the top of my head for Superman and Quick and the Dead. Didn't know he was 95. So when he did those old Superman movies he was actually already around 50-55 years old while Christopher Reeve was about 30.
