Agent_4Seven Agent_4Seven Yet another banger OT from your my man! :messenger_fire:
Thank you! But I'm not done yet, I'll add more things and improve on the rest today or maybe tomorrow, I just tought that it'll be fine for now and it's 2 days the game is out already.

Speaking of which! MAN! There sure is a lot of banter at the beginning of the game (I haven't played the first game so Idk much about what was in it and stuff), but it's so fuckin' well done, well written, reminds of Aquanox 1-2, MC is voiced (!!!!) and unlike ZZZ with its boring black screen with text, there's multiple pre-rendered cutscenes during missions mixed with changing static backgrounds with sounds, VA and such to show you what's going on and then the gameplay (which is easy in story mode, but hopefully will be way harder later and in endgame) and other stuff like super cool and fun animations when you get the characters, you can look at them from various angles, there's already splash screens which are also cool and I got 3 S rank and 3 A rank (1 dupe) characters within free 30 pulls!:messenger_grinning:

Man, this game is incredible! Love almost everything about and it also helps that it's basically modern X-COM but with cool Ults, actual characters, cool story, lore and waifus ofc:messenger_smiling_with_eyes: Can't wait to play more of it!:messenger_hushed:

This OT was on Europe time lol

I've been playing on Darkwinter for a few days and it's fun. The game is literally XCOM with waifus

You might say it's ... "XCOOM"

YEAAAAAAHHHHH

As someone who never played the original game, I have no idea what's going on with the story at all but I'm enjoying the whole Command and Conquer living out in the Tiberium contaminated wasteland vibe all the same

Yeah im in europe and donwnloaded the Darkwinter client so been playing this since 3rd December. Disappointed to see this game has the same terrible drop rates as hoyoverse games (0.6%) but i got lucky in the beginner banner and already got Qiongjiu. Now trying to get Suomi from the limited banner.

Having fun with the tactical gameplay. The event has a Nikke inspired minigame so u can get to see those ass cheecks shaking. :D

Main story looks decent so far, nothing crazy but not bad. Cutscenes are nice though. Also like the multiple ways you can customize your main screen.

But because of the extreme low drop rates, if they are not generous enough with free tickets for pulls, i doubt i stick with it much longer after being done with the story content. Still seeing how good or bad this game will be in terms of character aquisition.

Game is good. Played through the first chapter today. Looks good, satisfying gameplay, good music, a lot going on.

I'm not really used to these kind of games so it dumps a TON of items/currencies/menus on you with barely any explanation. There's like six different currencies, I think? No idea what's going on with any of those or what I'm supposed to do with those.

Nemesis :pie_smiling_hearts:

What i always do when i start a new gacha is just be aware what is the premium currency and the gacha tickets. Everething else i ignore cuz when its time to level up a character or weapon, etc you can see what currency it asks.

So in this game the Cubes is the premium currency and you only want to spend those in the limited banners. The orange tickets are for limited banners and the black tickets for the normal and beginner banner.

Never played the first game so I know nothing of the story or anything. Played up until the gacha and got the girl who eats food from the beginner discount one and Suomi.
The gameplay seems kind of basic? Like there doesn't seem to be any attack accuracy or anything. Maybe I'm wrong here. It's obviously very early game so maybe it gets more interesting.
The visual novel part seems really cheaply done. As in they will talk about things without any visual representation of what they are talking about, there isn't much in the way of different poses or anything for the characters, effects are pretty much non-existent, etc. Visual novels from 20+ years ago with probably less than a 10th the budget had more going on. I feel like they would've been better off using the 3d models that already exist and look better than the 2D portraits? At least they could move them around more and have more expression, but maybe that causes problems for characters that don't have models.
Kind of a minor point but I really don't like how compressed the cutscenes are. They seem super low bitrate or something, with lots of compression artifacts. I understand they might need to do that for mobile, but the PC version is already a much bigger install size so I would've appreciated higher quality here (or just do it in engine).

The girls look good though which is the most important part.

The trick is to wait for these games to hit EoS and sometimes they release a downloadable/offline version of the game with the gacha elements removed
Considering that GFL1 (8 years old and counting!) is still operating today, your chances of getting an offline version of GFL2 are basically none in your natural lifetime

The vast majority of gamers have accepted the world of phone games and made it their own, I never stopped playing traditional games after I also started playing gachas

It's possible for a real gamer to enjoy all kinds of games, except those published by Xbox Game Studios

I haven't played much yet, but the story wasn't meant to be difficult and there's hard versions of missions you can replay later. I think the meat of this game in terms of gameplay will be in the endgame and in combat outside of the story, or maybe later story missions are hard as balls.

They don't have Atlus's budget ma dude.

Maybe... but I prefer 2D illustrations. There's also a lot more work when it comes to 3D models and animations. Even ZZZ don't have a lot of variation in this department in case you didn't know :messenger_relieved:

I'm sure it will be harder. I mean basic in terms of systems, like the lack of any accuracy mechanic.
Not sure why you would need Atlus budget? Visual novels made by smaller companies that would only sell 50k~100k copies, if they are lucky, had far more going on. Even compared to other gacha games ie Heaven Burns Red, the visual novel aspect is pretty barebones. Maybe that is a Chinese vs Japanese thing though.
3D models can take work sure, but they are already in the game and already have plenty of animations. Just look at the default home screen. You have multiple girls fully modeled walking around with numerous animations.
I'm not gonna say the game is trash or anything though, just things I noticed.

I mean, there's animations there, but sure, they're not so complicated and stuff. I don't have problems with this tbh. Have you played Ash Echoes? God, I wish that game had the same gameplay instead of real-time BS they gone for instead. The animation work there is also pretty basic and even more so than in GF2, but the world, the lore and stuff is really good.

Well, maybe they'll improve some stuff going forward, like WuWa did, we'll see.

Game has deep combat and tactical mechanics (no accuracy system), but so far i completed chapter 3 and i can just let the game play in auto mode.

When you click in the "Campaign" tab to see the list of chapters to pick, in the bottom left corner thers a square saying "Hunter Assessment", clicking there takes you to a kinda of tutorial teaching you all kinds of combat mechanics in the game, like depleting enemy shields, different tipes of covers, enemies weaknesses to different elements and amunition, shooting from above groud locations, etc etc. Alot of times in gachas, most of the campaign modes are just made in a way to be easy to complete and only in certain game modes you actually have to use the deep game mechanics to do well.

Also completing this step by step tutorial gives rewards so ppl should do it.

This guy in the video will give some tips about the shop and will also metion some of the combat mechanics that most ppl are not aware, but in the tutorial thing i mentioned, it goes even more deeper.

How do I unlock the outfits that are locked behind Appraisal Objectives? I've searched what feels like 100 menus but I have no idea what they mean with this.

Edit: nvm, found it. It was the 101st menu.

Looks like Global launch is going well. This game has had a very hard time in CN so it's nice to see Global players supporting it

I might throw a little cash at some of the Beginner packs, maybe put in 20 bucks, just to support the game a bit. Apparently the combat gets much more difficult later on, the start of the game is very easy but they ramp it up fast after you get through the early story

Good news indeed. But why would you ever launch a game in China only in whatever year China only version came out? It's stupid and hurts the game more than anything. I can't throw money at the game in Russia so I guess no monthly sub and everything else.

SJRB

What does the montly sub even get you? I'm still super confused at the 100 different currencies and upgrade items and shit.

I don't mind supporting this game for a bit because I'm having a lot of fun but I have literally no idea if that sub is a good deal. On the other hand, dropping 15 bucks on an outfit is kind of the other end of the spectrum for me.

Well, it'll give you currency with which you can buy stuff for more pulls. I only like Groza outfit, but there's no way I'll be spending money on outfits instead of getting characters, that's a red line for me.

P.S. Finished the first chapter and after that so much stuff opens up about which ZZZ can only dream:messenger_beaming:

Like, there's multiple pages of lore you can unlock after getting certain items, you can gift items and complete trust quests to increase bonds with characters and then gift a special ring, you've 6 different idle screens for each character (completely free, unlocking after certain MC levels) for each character and you can set them to be on the main menu screen in addition to already existing specific and animated menu screens for each character, you can freely look at their rooms and stuff at different angles. The animation work is simply amazing and I just love watchin' how Mayling turns pages in the book, taking it away to drink tea and so on at the dorm menu. There's other stuff I haven't even unlocked yet and there's more to the character upgrades than just dupes and lvls. This game is packed with cool stuff man and I love it😍

P.S.S. A few more promo codes :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:
  • ELMOLIVE
  • OMNGKTWN
  • GFL2LAUNCH

Oh this is like anime xcom with girls ? Never heard of this series.
Might give this a try, and since this looks more or less turn based/menu based, I may try it on my phone first. Does this have cross progression? Like, can I move to PC later down the line if I want, and keep my progress?

It has cross-progression, make sure you bind your account to the publisher using your email address (Sunborn/Haoplay) and not to Google or Apple

So, looking at https://www.prydwen.gg/gfl-exilium/tier-list it seems I have been pretty lucky with my character pulls as I already got all the top tier characters. 100% F2P.

After 5 days playing the game:

erZKQxS.png

BTW this game has one of the best weapon systems in a gacha game i seen. Not only each weapon looks visually diferent, the bigger the rarity more detailed the weapon design will be, but thers also 4 attachments that also become visible in the weapon and change depending of rarity, for example a scope, silencer, etc for a weapon from the lowest rarity it will have a rusty look, making you know just by looking at the weapon that you can still improve it. Different attachments also give diferent stats, so for ZZZ players its the equivalent of the W-Engine with disks but instead of being hidden in a menu its something you can always see in battle.

Damn, didn't think GAF would get a thread for a niche gacha like this.

The game is fucking fantastic. The gameplay, the story *chef's kiss*, dialogue, upgrade system, in depth-weapon parts and skins, cute t-dolls. I'm super impressed. That first event story had me legitimately nail biting to see how it was going to pan out.

Something I noticed in the new player survey:

zivKy8W.jpeg

We still got it, GAF.

Which squad are you guys running? I'm doing Suomi/Krolic/Nemesis/Peritya. Nice balance of range and AoE, Suomi is ridiculously overpowered.

I always wonder WTF those W-Engines even are and how can you logically explain them. Like you mentioned, it's always very clear what weapon attachments are, what they do and you can see them in GF2, but WTF W-Engines are and how are they even related to the characters, what they do with them etc.? I mean, you can at least explain or maybe guess how you slot it in when it comes to Billy and Qingyi cuz they're not humans or tirens, but what about the rest of the cast? Anyway, maybe I'm thinking too much here:messenger_tears_of_joy:

I'm trying all characters for now to see how they play and which ones I like more. Sabrina can wipe out groups of enemies with one AOE attack which is insane, but that's in the story mode so maybe it's not as easy outside of it. Currently pulling for Ullrid cuz she's absolutely insane in combat, Suomi also great but I'll pull for her later if I'll have enough tickets for her.

Today's reminder that Suomi is into serious death metal, players of GFL1 already know this but you can also find out by reading her Affinity 2 cutscene in GFL2

I like how they call out Reddit and GAF but leave out a certain purple insane forum which would hate this game anyways because it has attractive anime girls

Qiongjiu/Sharkry/Groza/Suomi - the amount of cover fire you get from this team is fucking insane since QJ and Suomi both provide support fire when another unit attacks and Groza provides reactive fire when one of your units is attacked during the enemy turn. This effect stacks: so when Groza returns fire, QJ pops up and supports even on reactive fire. If Sharkry or Groza fire on a target, and both Suomi and QJ are in range, they will both fire first before Sharkry or Groza fires, this results in hilarious situations where QJ has already killed the target before the unit you ordered to fire on it has even begun shooting but don't worry, they'll all keep shooting it anyways "STOP! STOP! HE'S ALREADY DEAD!!"

Can’t stop playing, it’s so good.

Halfway through chapter 4, Commander level 23 so finally unlocked weapon attachments. I like how it keeps unlocking new stuff for me to mess around with.

I unlocked several elites but Nemesis is still the goat.

What is this then?

It’s the same game, just not released on steam yet and not sure when it will.

You need to download the client from the website if you want to play the game right now.

Their worldwide publishing is a confusing mess. Some of the regions are being published by the devs, the other regions are published by "Haoplay". Depending where you live, you can only play one version and the accounts/progression isn't synced across those servers.

Darkwinter (North America, Australia, SEA and Africa)
HAOPLAY (South America, Europe, Japan, Korea, and remaining parts of SEA\*)

I even saw a weird map that a few random South American countries were Darkwinter while the rest were Haoplay. It's really kinda stupid, but I'm guessing it was necessary for some reason. VPN tricks probably work if you download the standalone client from the official website and then pick a US IP address.

Steam version will be the "Darkwinter" version of the game, I believe. Not sure if there's a Haoplay Steam version in those regions or not.

I dunno if they really look at GAF or not, it was probably just on a list of old survey examples that they copied from. I think Genshin Impact had a GAF example on one of their early surveys too.

That team comp sounds like a lot of fun honestly, might try that out too. Suomi kinda trivializes a lot of content, she does a LOT of different things with her kit. Kinda crazy she's a launch unit.

Today's reminder that Suomi is into serious death metal, players of GFL1 already know this but you can also find out by reading her Affinity 2 cutscene in GFL2

I used to play GFL1 a long long time ago, but the story got too wordy/complicated for me along the way, so I only know bits and pieces about the story and characters. Do you know of any good (hopefully quick) summary of the story where it sits in GFL1? I'd love to catch up. If I have one complaint about GFL2 story, they didn't do a very good job in the very beginning linking what happened in 1 with where we start out in 2.

The bits where SKK runs into old friends in the GFL2 story has been really cool, they did a nice job of spreading it out and making it feel organic. Suomi's letters got me right in the feels. It's cool that the data logs have little tidbits about the old dolls too, like that text log story about P90.

As far as characters I'd like to see updated and brought over to GFL2, I'd love to see TAR-21 show up (great design and I actually love the gun design in real life), PA-15, and M950A. Springfield would be great too, since they split the dolls from the guns to a degree, so she could get an updated weapon that fits the narrative/world a little better. There were a bunch of great designs when I quit that I'd love to see updated in 3D.

Yeah, but for the PC client thers no need to use VPN. They have 2 oficial websites, one has the link to download the darkwinter client, the other the haoplay client. Im in europe and could not play day 3 cuz in haoplay the game released 2 days later, so i found the darkwinter site and was able to download the client there without VPN and start playing right away.

Official website with the Darkwinter client: https://gf2exilium.sunborngame.com/main
Official website with the Haoplay client: https://gf2.haoplay.com/en/

And yeah its a mess, im guessing they did this do deal with different country currencies?

Can I not just straight up buy a character like Suomi or am I blind?
Nope, gotta roll the gacha for her and most future characters. That's the monetization model.

You can look at straight up buying her with 160 pulls, since that's the hard pity (80 max until a 5* character, if you don't get her the first time, the next 80 guarantees her). There's also supposedly a hidden "soft pity" that starts at 65 pulls (your % chances of getting a 5 star character goes up each pull starting at 65 until 80 if you're really unlucky).

So on average if you win the 50/50 and get the featured character, you're probably looking around 70~ pulls. If you lose the 50/50, probably 140? So if you want any future characters for 100% certainty, save up 160 pulls. That's how free-to-play players usually do it.

Luckily we're a year behind the CN version, so you have plenty of time to look and see if you want any of the future characters and plan accordingly. Suomi is top tier though, even in CN a year later, so she's definitely worth the resources to pick up.

Not with real money. You use the orange tickets and the cubes to pull on her banner like Pejo Pejo said, just a correction, in this game the soft pitty starts at the pull 58.

This means you will get higher chances to get her after reaching 58 pulls in her banner. I got Suomi in my pull 53, so a little earlier before reaching the Soft pitty. Shes really good its a great character to get. Thers more than enough time to get her before she goes away you should be able to save enough currency to get her (orange tickets + cubes). Dont waste the cubes in anything else, always use them only in the limited banners if the character of the banner is interesting to you.

Also I just found out that you can get Peritya (catgirl 5*) and Sabrina (shotgun big tiddie 5*) for free just by playing the game.

Peritya is available in the dispatch gacha. You get up to 4 coins per week for letting your team do dispatch jobs (idle mode, you just set it and pick up rewards later), and you use those coins to do a gacha, with Peritya as the "premium" reward. You can get all of her copies this way too, so you can eventually fully max her.

Sabrina is available in the weekly boss mode. I haven't unlocked this yet so I'm unsure what you do other than kill a boss (that presumably updates every week). You can supposedly max her out with multiple copies this way too.

Also I just found out that you can get Peritya (catgirl 5*) and Sabrina (shotgun big tiddie 5*) for free just by playing the game.

I just unlocked the mode after my post. So it looks like her pieces are 400 of the boss mode currency for 5, but there's only 3 to purchase per month(?) So you can get 15 pieces every month in the shop itself, it takes 30 to unlock the character, so two months? I was able to get 300 currency from beating the boss at the lowest level and auto-ing the last two attempts. There was no way I was going to beat the next tier at lv 26 or 27, whatever I currently am. I'm not sure if you get more currency if you beat higher levels, but I imagine you would. Even if not, if you can beat the lowest level boss 3x a week that's 1200 currency a month which is exactly enough to buy all of Sabrina's pieces.

So yea, 2 months to get a copy of her, if you skip all of the other shop rewards and don't miss a week on beating the boss.
