Game Overview

- The Killing Antidote is a survival horror game developed by Metal Star Studio, heavily inspired by the Resident Evil series.
- Players assume the role of Jod, a young investigative journalist exploring a creepy facility while avoiding zombies and other horrifying creatures.
- The game features character customization and includes elements such as item collection, puzzle-solving, and occasional character showers to clean up after encounters.
- Released in October of the previous year as an Early Access title, the game has received mixed reviews but shows potential beyond its initial appearance.

Gameplay Mechanics

- The game offers a 6-7 hour campaign, New Game Plus mode, and various challenge maps, providing a range of gameplay experiences.
- The core gameplay involves navigating through an abandoned research facility, gathering items, and solving puzzles while managing encounters with enemies.
- Players experience a weight limit for inventory management instead of a traditional item limit, impacting stamina rather than item availability.
- The environment is well-constructed, allowing for exploration and backtracking, with hidden areas and collectibles to discover.

Combat System

- Combat includes a variety of weapons such as knives, pistols, shotguns, SMGs, and bows, each with distinct mechanics and effectiveness.
- The knife serves primarily as a defensive item, while the pistol and revolver provide basic ranged options, with the shotgun delivering significant damage.
- Players can find and utilize grenades and other explosive devices, enhancing the combat experience and allowing for strategic gameplay.
- Despite the presence of various weapons, the game lacks a weapon upgrade system, which is a common feature in survival horror titles.

Enemy Design

- The enemy roster includes slow-moving zombies, faster mutants, and unique creatures that require different strategies to defeat.
- Enemies exhibit diverse behaviors, such as crawling, leaping, and ambushing players, contributing to the game's tension and challenge.
- Certain enemy types are reminiscent of classic horror games, invoking nostalgia while providing fresh gameplay experiences.
- Boss fights are limited, and while some encounters can be challenging, they may not meet the expectations set by other games in the genre.

Puzzle Elements

- The puzzles primarily involve finding items and using them at specific locations, lacking complexity compared to other survival horror games.
- Keypad combinations for locked doors vary in difficulty, with some being straightforward while others require more thought and exploration.
- There are hidden briefcases and data recovery mini-games that add variety but may not appeal to all players due to their complexity.
- The game could benefit from more diverse puzzle mechanics to enhance player engagement and challenge.

Character Customization

- A significant feature of The Killing Antidote is the extensive character customization available for Jod, including various outfits and accessories.
- Players can find clothing items throughout the game, with a mix of preset locations and randomly generated pickups, encouraging multiple playthroughs.
- The customization options allow for personal expression and enhance the player's connection to the character.
- The game includes a side mode where players can try on outfits and change Jod's appearance, reminiscent of features in other games.

Visual and Technical Aspects

- The graphics and animations are generally well-executed, contributing to an immersive atmosphere despite some reliance on pre-existing assets.
- The character design and environmental details enhance the horror experience, though some elements may feel derivative.
- Technical issues are present due to the game's Early Access status, leading to occasional bugs and gameplay inconsistencies.
- Future updates are expected to address these issues and expand the game with new content, including additional challenge maps and story elements.

Final Thoughts

- Despite its cheesy elements and early access status, The Killing Antidote offers a surprisingly engaging experience for fans of the survival horror genre.
- The game successfully combines familiar mechanics with fresh ideas, making it a worthwhile title for indie horror enthusiasts.
- Player feedback and ongoing development may lead to improvements that further enhance the gameplay experience.
- Overall, The Killing Antidote stands out as a promising entry in the indie horror scene, providing both fun and challenge for players.

I don't know why anyone would want to play that trash 😂
You mistakenly posted this on a Killing Antidote thread. The Veilguard thread is over here.

Some parts seems interesting, while others not so much. The hit boxes seems infuriating.

Hopefully on the final release they can improve it.

A total rip off of Resident evil with sexy ladies and nice sounding guns, is there even a market for this?

Utterly lame, terrible. Disgraceful, abhorrent even

Looks like cheap assetflip slop. What the fuck?

I mean he brings that up, but says despite that it's... good. Like from a mechanical point of view.

In many way, I suppose I'm more forgiving with stuff like that as I grew up in the era when half of what was worth playing was a mod using existing assets from anouther game to create something new.

But yeah I was watching the video and got that same impression, but GManLives is someone who "most of the time" lines up with my type of games that I enjoy. I think i bought something once he recommended I just couldn't get into vs the other stuff he's played which I would not have enjoyed otherwise.

But it's up to you really, watch a few videos of some of the stuff he's played and see if they line up.
